French may be the best interior defensive player i have ever seen in a Billiken uniform...his leaping ability and timing are amazing...it's extremely difficult to ever get him to leave his feet early...

And he can guard any player on the court.

I am assuming it’s a COVID-related issue. He may be having trouble getting back in shape or something like that. Hargrove played really well in the last game before shutdown, and we’ve played almost every other player besides him (including Russell) since, so it wouldn’t add up that he’s healthy and not playing.

TJ played the end of the first half against Dayton. Ford mentioned in an interview he needs to find him minutes. He's playing 9 now. It is tough to play 10.

Good call. I think I said this on Friday, but the timing of his statement made it pretty clear to me that he was trying to get out in front of the story before they got buried underneath it. The statement was made within a half hour of the story breaking online. The fact that it came so quickly told me that they already had this statement prepared in advance because they already knew a s—tstorm was on the way. Media statements like that, on issues like Covid, usually require approval. You don’t say things like that publicly off the cuff. It was all prepared, in advance, to spin a narrative.

Except they are now saying that the current pause is because of a test on Sunday and they were cleared to play on Friday. Dont know what is true

Thanks for this post, slu72! Here's hoping for some warmer winter days so you can get back out there on the golf course. Golf certainly preserved my sanity this past year. Since my wife does not play I made sure to spread it out so she wouldn't start to resent my mini vacations. It's the perfect sport to play during a pandemic so I never felt like I was doing something I wasn't supposed to be doing. 4 hours away from the kids, along with a few (9) beers, was just the medicine I needed.

Not a big fan of scotch but I want to try this Glen Morangie...

If your willing to play in low 50s temps you can still get out once or twice a week in STL

Truth is that he is a liability any time during the game if they opposition takes the approach of "just foul him"  he will cost them less points that way.  Assume he takes 10-12 bunnies each game and he makes 50% of them - that will be 10-12 points - if he shoots 60% then you are looking 12-14 points.  If you foul him each time the best he can hurt you is he might put in a couple but he will miss the free throw.  So you foul him and hits 30% of the FTs which honestly the way he is shooting is optimistic he will only score 8 or so points - you are ahead of the game with him and in all probability he will score less.

Except that it puts us in the bonus and double bonus much faster and puts the opposing teams big men in foul trouble.

I can't remember the exact sequence and I'm having troubling finding it in the play by play.  What exactly happened for the T on Coach Ford and what happened afterwards?  That could have been a 6 or 7 point swing with one call.

Minn player has blatant travel / double dribble that is missed and scores (2 points that wouldn't have counted w the correct call)

Ford gets a T and Minn gets 2 FTs (2 potential points) plus gets the ball back (2/3 points if they scored).

I'm not sure if Minn hit both FTs or scored on the ensuing possession, but that's a potential 6/7 point swing in an 8 point game all because of one single missed blatant travel on the Minn.  That is huge.

They missed 1 freethrow and SLU got the ball. It cost one point.

She only played 4 minutes in the game. After watching the way she closed out her freshman year, I thought she was going to end up one of the women’s all time greats. She hasn’t improved, and possibly regressed since then.

She didnt look happy from her seat under the basket

    69 - 54 final.

Harbison with 25 points.  Martinez shuts us up with 17 points on 5 -11 shooting, 2-4 from 3, and 5-6 from the line.  Double doubles for MST and Myia Clark.

    Stewart didn't play.

Flowers didnt play in the second half
