  1. All these 3's in a close game are dumb, but a dagger from Mason.
  2. Wow I feel bad for Ash. Yeah he's underachieved, but he would have been great as a role player 2 seasons ago. Instead he gets to finish his career out with unrealistic expectations as a star on a team that is the definition of inconsistent.
  3. From what I've heard regarding old dorms once new opens is not closure but actually renovation. Except for Grand Forest which could be knocked down but that isn't until 2020 at the very earliest of the spectrum. But Gries and Reinert are scheduled to be renovated.
  4. Reading this as a current student worries me greatly based on the amount of debt I'm incurring to go to SLU. If SLU's degree value plummets that really won't be a good thing for any of us.
  5. I'm not saying the baseball people you speak to are wrong. I do like his game, but statistically he is a below average fielder who has a plus arm. This upcoming season will be interesting for his development, as his numbers last year were inflated due to his ridiculous BABIP. I expect him to be around a .270 hitter this season with a regression to his typical BABIP numbers. As for defensive metrics, 1.5-2 WAR on defense is a good measure for Molina. First off, that number is very high for defensive contributions. It is accurate in his case. Second, if you consider that to be low, take into account how many games Yadier has missed over the past few seasons. I don't agree with the statement defensive metrics are not that accurate with players because Molina's are spot on.
  6. 5 tool players are players who have potential with every tool to be plus plus. For as nice of a season Piscotty had, in my eyes he is not a 5 tool player. It is a term that gets tossed around way too often in baseball, but few players are deserving of the term. In today's game, the two closest players to 5 tools are Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. However, even those two have aspects of their game that aren't perfect. In short, 5 tool players are not grown on trees. I won't go so far as to say they are once in a generation type players, but they are a rare breed in the increasingly specialized modern game of baseball. Piscotty had a nice season, but his average was inflated by an unsustainable .372 BABIP and his defense graded out negative at every position by UZR for a net -7.2 rating. His projected stats (while just a projection) for the upcoming season .267/.327/.407 with 12 HR and 58 rbi according to fangraphs. His scouting numbers all range between 45 and 60 for different categories. Not bad, but not 5 tools.
  7. Despite the last two seasons, I feel that SLU is still an attractive job for young coaches. Great facilities, good conference, and good location for recruiting (St. Louis and Chicago not too far). I think we can land a solid coach who can really do something here. It is on the AD and Dr. P to make this happen.
  8. This is very, very interesting. In addition to top 100 guys, OK has identified some hidden gems the big recruiting services didn't rank. I'd be more than ok with this.
  9. I don't disagree but Pollard was much more under control from day one of his freshman year. Their starting points in terms of college development were worlds apart.
  10. Think they missed a goaltend right there.
  11. According to the graphic is has been only 3:30 without scoring. That cant be right.
  12. MC can't buy a bucket. This is absurd.
  13. Announcers are brutal, officials are brutal, and the invisible cap over the basket is brutal.
  14. MC can't buy a 3. Luckily Reggie is playing like a man and cleans it up.
  15. Hard to find guards that can keep up in a foot race with Miles and Bishop. Nice break for 2.
  16. Why does it seem like the rims at Dayton aren't friendly to shooters. For both teams not just us.
  17. MC moving well tonight, good burst on the coast to coast.
  18. That airball was inexplicably bad.
  19. The quote isn't about bending his knees, it is poor phrasing. What I think Crews is referring to is that Miles tends to play tall and upright. It can look stiff at times and not as fluid as other players. By bending his knees he could tap into a little more explosiveness and it also helps with things such as shooting. His statement is an over simplification of what he means but this is something I agree with JC on.
  20. According to some K-State twitter, Diarra is announcing his decision on February 3rd. The writer who the info comes from posted in on some K-State forum that required a subscription to view, so I am going based off of the conversation on Twitter. Basically, Diarra is announcing February 3rd and K-State is the presumed favorite from what I have gathered. Edit: Also, according to Yahoo, Diarra had an official visit to SLU on January 9th. http://sports.yahoo.com/ccc/basketball/recruiting/player-Cartier-Diarra-187387
  21. Riverview won again yesterday, 4-1 with whole roster now. Zeke posted this little short video. For a player who doesn't have much film, figured this is at least something.
