  1. Seeing posts all over Twitter about JT just reminds me of the letdown of the summer. Not sure what was worse, the last two seasons or that one afternoon in July...
  2. Collinsworth getting a triple double against Valpo would be cool and BYU winning would be cool too. I'd love to see our future head coach have success, but a resolution to this open job is priority number one. Plus, that success I wish for him to have is patrolling the sidelines while leading the Bills.
  3. While May said they would focus on head coaches, the press release said this bit as well. Ingelsby seems to fit the bill coming from ND, a fellow Catholic institution. His history of success comes in varied roles on the staff. This would be a home run hire, imo.
  4. As I posted yesterday, I would love Ingelsby. Could get guard play similar to when SLU was good again. Anxiously waiting though, no matter who it is.
  5. So I know he was mentioned earlier, but in light of Notre Dame still being in the tournament I am wondering if the search firm/AD will reach out to Martin Ingelsby if a deal is not in place with another candidate. Watching the guard play of ND over the last few seasons (his area of emphasis as a member of the staff) as well as his role in helping make game plans are two reasons I would love to see SLU take a long look at him. He played at ND and is considered an up and comer in coaching circles. The experience at a major Catholic institution could lend him to sharing in the vision that the university is trying to promote. As Pistol mentioned in a prior post, there is little to be found on his recruiting, but I would much rather him than Ford or Dooley. On a semi-related note, go Irish tonight.
  6. Looking at Ford getting a second interview doesn't have me worried. Didn't interview with May the first time, and is a fallback option because if he was option 1 he would already be the coach. Drew to SLU is still promising because no one has filled the spot. Take a deep breath, there is plenty of time to panic later.
  7. I highly doubt Wade is bolting VCU one year in. Vandy will be good next year but feel like they will go another direction. Could see a promotion of a guy like Richardson who succeeded Stallings at ISU, or a run at another mid-major coach such as Jacobson. This isn't to say Wade won't be contacted, just that I doubt he would bolt for a job that has some drawbacks. While a Power 5 job, the academic challenges of Vandy make it less ideal than the standing of being in the SEC would indicate. Edit: Forgot the name who I actually would bet is the next Vandy coach, King Rice. Was an assistant there and has become a more popular name after this season.
  8. Reading Pitt reactions on Twitter, they are not happy Stallings is replacing Dixon. A couple fans believe his inability to dominate the SEC at a school with constraints such as Vanderbilt is indicative of him having little skill. How odd.
  9. According to the board or sources? (please let it be sources, please let it be sources)
  10. Oh if Coach Drew is a White Sox fan that would be my dream come true. Any fan of the team at 35th and Shields is a friend of me. Soxtober16 and Drew at SLU, what a combo. (As an aside, for any lover of baseball who hasn't been to US Cellular Field is missing out on a great experience, much better than that place up on Addison. Best food in the MLB in my opinion)But back to coach Drew. Everyone wants him, but I'm encouraged based on his total profile that SLU is a good fit for him. I just don't see him at a big state school based on his family and their connection with faith. That being said, I could be absolutely wrong since I have no info.
  11. Heard those things were going to be torn down last summer. Hopefully it gets done this summer. They are a real eye sore.
  12. So there is no place I can find it in writing, but it is being heavily rumored that Humphrey's is closing. Heard today from someone in the know that it is "definitely closing mid summer."
  13. Jones injured his elbow in HS I believe and that hindered his shooting form. He basically never had a chance to become an outside shooter. Goodwin doesn't have that problem, and I would bed he becomes a serviceable shooter.
  14. He recruits very well, which is his biggest draw. He has connections all over the country. His game coaching is decent enough. If he could recruit here like he did at Cal, we would be near the top of the A-10 every year.
  15. As a big fan of the Bulls here are my two cents on Skiles. He is a fantastic coach, very defensive minded and would have the Bills defending like a top 25 team fairly quickly. The downside to him is that players do eventually lose their love of playing for him. Now, that was the nba. In college where players are here 4 years, it may not be as big of an issue. It would be an outside the box hire for sure, but Skiles could do a pretty good job based imo.
  16. My point wasn't to blame students, what the man did was wrong. My point was more so that if SLU went ahead and hired Martin, there would be an outrage from many groups on SLU's campus based on his association with a coach who did that. Not trying to downplay the severity of the situation in any way.
  17. Baylor is always overrated come tourney time. Really feels like Drew underachieves every single ncaa.
  18. Obviously we don't know everything that went down at Cal, but I promise you that the current students at SLU are huge PC police. Trust me on that.Edit: my point is that a lot of undergrads who know nothing about basketball would read a blurb of something happening at Cal under Martin's watch and berate the administration through anonymous complaints
  19. For context though, UNCW fouled at one of the worst rates in the country. Butler and TTech was a good game. Baylor and Yale is interesting. Really excited for WSU and Arizona. Think the shockers pull it out.
  20. Before he went to Cal he said he believes SLU can be a destination job. However, I read Cal is working on extending him. He certainly can recruit, but I don't see him coming here with how talented his team is going forward.
  21. Is this tweet him announcing he is leaving, or just thanking the staff?
  22. FGCU and FDU are two of the youngest teams in the country (FDU 3rd youngest in NCAA) FGCU looks good so far.
  23. Sometimes a buyout can be nearly the full amount or even more for breaking a contract. I understand Frank isn't always right or even close to it, but I'm not entirely surprised. If it is true, that is some smart negotiating on Crews part.
  24. I sincerely hope if this bit about former coaches is true it only pertains to Romar and Bennett. Harriman as well. But absolutely not porter, brad, or any of the current assistants.
