  1. Crews has these guys playing tough defense tonight.
  2. I am in agreement with you here Bizziken. Butler is more recognizable to basketball fans than SLU, but as I have stated several other times, Butler isn't bringing in the viewers Fox needs. I agree, neither would SLU. BTW, I'm picking the Bulldogs over Villanova on Saturday. And I'll be watching. CBSsports is broadcasting the game, so it should get better ratings than it would on Fox Sports 1. IU doesn't play until Sunday, so there is no head to head conflicts for Indy viewers.
  3. Bizziken says they are bringing money to the league, I agree but say they aren't bringing viewers ($$) to Fox. Bizziken says Butler is the only team in Indianapolis. I said they don't own Indy by a long shot. Bizziken says the gym can easily sell out. I pointed out that it has sold out only twice this year so far (with two more likely) You brought SLU into this conversation. And Creighton. You moved the goalposts.
  4. Totally don't understand your come-back. If you think Butler owns Indianapolis, well good for you. They don't. IU is 50 miles from Indy and 10x the size. Who said anything about comparing SLU to Butler and why they chose Butler? I compared the two gyms and personally prefer Chaifetz to Hinkle. I'm allowed to have an opinion, correct? You missed my point. Butler isn't bringing Fox huge numbers. They don't own the Indy market. On a good day they are third on the Indy Star sports page behind the Colts/Pacers, IU, then Butler. Sure they are better than us this year. No brain surgery needed for that comparison. Again ??????
  5. Yes Butler will bring in $$ to the Big East through the NCAA this year, but they aren't bringing in viewers ($$) to Fox. I have been to Hinkle many times, and yes it is historic, yes the movie Hoosiers was made there, yes I enjoy going there, yes they just remodeled it, but frankly I'd rather watch a game at Chaifetz with it's much better sight lines. Drive the streets of Indy. It's my home town and I get there four or five times a year. There are no Butler flags flying on houses until you get on the north side near the campus. It's all IU and Purdue. Butler has only sold out the 9,100 seat fieldhouse twice this year. Saturday versus Villanova will be the third sellout and Georgetown should be the 4th on senior night. Indy is Big Ten country, not Big East country.
  6. Well, we could be in Boone County looking at that train wreck. It looks like at sometime during the year the entire Tiger squad will have been suspended for one offense or another. A 7-16 record with even Tipster Jeff Gordon calling for Anderson to go back to Haith's good old days of importing transfers and Juco recruits.
  7. These essays have taken the place to Tom Timmermann's Life on the Road, which I found very enjoyable. Keep up the good work....and if you don't mind start putting the + - stats in your post like Tom did!
  8. I would hope that Fox executives are shrewd enough to look at what a market brings in a down year, rather than when the market's team is on top. Look at Butler. They were riding high after the two Final Fours, and now according to this article had the lowest number of viewers ever for a game on Fox. Butler has the problem of being located in Indiana. IU, Purdue and Notre Dame to a lesser extent, control the TV market. Butler's cinderella's ride is over. So what does Fox do? Do they redo their projections and make the best of the situation or do they extend to more markets with more viewers? The Big East lost it's brand when they split. Sure they kept the name, but it isn't the same. When you trade Louisville, Sryacuse, and Notre Dame for Butler, Creighton and Xavier, you aren't gaining market share. I watch a few Butler games, but if Providence is playing Seton Hall, or Creighton is at St. John's, I have better things to do. No one in Chicago cares when DePaul is playing, so why should i? Is St. Louis one of those markets that performs well in a bad year. I would like to see how TV viewership rates for this year compared to last year. If we are pulling in only 20,000 viewers for Billiken games, why would Fox want us? The problem with the Big East is that it is comprised of small schools with accordingly fewer alumni's. They don't pull in the rest of the viewers in the state as the typical state school does. Fox knew this when they put the deal together.
  9. Kind of before my Board time, but what about our good Christian Salecich. Whipped? He got plenty of floor time with minimal results.
  10. Did Barnett have the honor of whipping boy two years in a row, or was it Remekun in 12-13? I believe Cassity was so honored for several seasons.
  11. Every year this board proclaims a whipping boy. This year it is Manning. Last year it was Barnett. Any nominations for next year's whipping boy?
  12. List the five guys who earned PT today. I don't see any.
  13. I think Jolly has jumped over Gillmann on the depth chart
