  1. This is kind of what I was thinking. You have 8 teams in Orlando. You could stay a week or two and get 5 to 7 games in against those in Orlando. The Bills OOC schedule as we now know it just isn’t going to fully happen.
  2. I'm not sure what this committee does, but it can't be a bad thing that AD May has been appointed to it. https://slubillikens.com/news/2020/8/24/billiken-athletics-chris-may-appointed-to-ncaa-division-i-council-coordination-committee.aspx
  3. Could this put a wrinkle into the Orlando Tip-Off?
  4. All of these reviews were written before the NCAA began granting waivers...and there have been a gazillion approved. Many teams likely would need a rewrite. I wouldn't worry about any team losing a starter. (If SLU lost Collins or French, where would we be?) I am more concerned about the virus taking down 3, 4 or 5 rotation players for 10 days to 2 weeks. No team can withstand that type of loss in the heat of a season. It will be interesting to see what happens with football. We have seen how the MLB has attempted to handle positives. My guess is that the virus will have a huge role in determining how this season (hopefully there is one) plays out.
  5. This is an interesting possibility for OOC. You could list a number of regional games that would make up a nice non-conf schedule.
  6. More good news for Rhody. Carey started in Syracuse first two games last season, then hurt his thumb and was out for the rest of the year. He likely has a medical waiver and three years of eligibility left. Rhode Island now has 11 of its 13 scholarship players eligible for the 2020-21 season. Junior transfer Malik Martin (Charlotte) is awaiting word on his waiver from the NCAA. Junior Allen Betrand, (Towson), will sit out this season and have two seasons of eligibility. The Rams backcourt of Russell, Sheppard and Carey will be decent. Add Martin to this group, and they will be dangerous. I’m expecting more personal name calling from Taj.
  7. Waiting for the Taj B & M post. Did the NCAA answer your email Taj? I hope Stockard and Medley-Bacon get similar good news.
  8. I pretty much agree with you on most of what you say. We fought several wars to get out of European/Asian influence. We don't need to copy anyone. I am a huge fan of americanized names, soccer, football, hockey and baseball. I think the St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals are perfect names for this city's teams. You pick it, Stars, Archers, Rivermen, Steamers....all would have been perfect, in my opinion. I am very pleased that they adopted SC instead of FC. The NFL plays football. The Major League Soccer plays soccer. An yes, I am also glad to have a team and will support them no matter what they are called.
  9. https://carterchapleymedia.com/2020/08/12/bet-on-yourself-phillip-russell-walks-on-to-the-billikens-and-other-thoughts-from-the-commitment/ Chapley's article explains a few things.
  10. Russell hit 81% from the line. It appears Coach Tate was the key to landing Russell. Russell says he could beat Coach Ford in 'horse'. Lorentsson still not in town. Rammer: "The government in Sweden doesn't understand how important NCAA basketball is." "Somehow he's not at the front of the line. I think diplomatic relations will suffer." Russell had a 3.5 GPA at Vashon. He knows and has played pick up with French, Goodwin, and Collins,

  12. Orlando. Tourney's in Brooklyn (2), Honolulu, KC, Ft. Myers, Niceville, Cayman Islands, Maui, Anaheim, Vegas, Bahamas, all need teams. Creighton, Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, Iowa State and Mizzou all lost games. Dump TN State and pick up one of these. All could drive to the Lou.
  13. PAC 12 killed off their OOC schedules. That impacts a lot of schools that had PAC 12 on their schedules. Many schools now needing games. Ten MTE's now need teams. I didn't find any single games with A10 v Pac 12 teams on the schedule. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L-wA0XgxXDFuK0FD0lPayMevSNwM8dxm2QVYKVRFVIY/edit#gid=1967653363
  14. Yeah, but it doesn't look like we will be able to play football this season. I was looking forward to the SLU v Illini football game.
  15. Besides the obvious, the Siena game is part of the tourney, it also means we won't be drawing Siena in the first round in Orlando. We could meet them later in the tourney through the bracket.
  16. The Gophers Man among Boys last season (20/11), Daniel Oturu, remained in the NBA draft. Their PG Carr returned to the U. Their other starting guard also returns. So yes, they will be their usual physical team, they won't be as imposing inside as last season when Oturu manned the paint. A key may be if Drake transfer Roberts gets a waiver. His inside presence would help the Gophers significantly. This game likely sums up the away OOC. One to three more home games, buys?, with one rumored to be a DII. (Reason is that a DII buy is cheaper than a D1 buy.) Yeah, Coach did slip Northern Illinois in there too.
  17. I liked the mention of Coach seeing Jimmy Bell running the track while dribbling a basketball. I’d like to see that. Both Rothstein and Ford state their confidence that there will be an NCAA tourney this season, they don’t know how it will be selected or when it will be played.
  18. The Mt West Challenge to me is the first one that will be looked at. Flying teams across country for some rather obscure games may be questioned. (Air Force at St Joe, Duquesne at Wyoming). Any team flying into CA (George Mason @ Fresno State) would do so at their own risk.
  19. Jon Rothstein lists Davidson as his A10 sleeper. https://collegehoopstoday.com/index.php/rothstein-files/atlantic-10-preseason-preview/ 5. Who is the sleeper? Davidson. It’s weird to say that about a team coached by Bob McKillop, but it’s the truth. One year after the Wildcats entered a season with monster expectations, they now enter 20-21 as a bit of an afterthought after last year’s 16-14 campaign. It may not stay that way for long. McKillop loses a great player in Jon Axel Gudmundsson, but returns three double-figure scorers in Kellan Grady, Luka Brajkovic, and Carter Collins. Mike Jones and Hyunjung Lee also return after both averaging over 20 minutes per contest last season, with the 6-7 Lee tallying an impressive 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds as a freshman. McKillop is also bullish on 6-8 freshman Samuel Mennenga, a skilled forward who has the ability to make an immediate impact. There’s enough pieces in place for McKillop — one of the sport’s elite offensive coaches — to have Davidson in the Atlantic 10’s top tier by next March.
  20. For something to talk about, here is Rothstein's A10 rankings from the referenced article. Similar to everyone else's, with Rhody maybe a slot too high and UMass maybe a slot too low. Atlantic 10 Preseason Power Rankings 1. Saint Louis 2. Richmond 3. Dayton 4. St. Bonaventure 5. Duquesne 6. Rhode Island 7. Davidson 8. UMass 9. George Mason 10. VCU 11. George Washington 12. La Salle 13. Saint Joseph’s 14. Fordham
  21. Ooh, fun. Can I play? I'll take who is leaving Memphis after the 20-21 season (that may or may not get played) for $200. Cisse, Quinones, and Jeffries. Did I win?
