  1. I followed that twitter lead and there are a lot of people telling him that he should join SLU and represent his city, and be a real person not just a number like he would be elsewhere. Check the lead, I am just paraphrasing several tweets, but he is getting a lot of support from other kids (I assume they are kids, I have no idea who they are) about coming to SLU. I think this is very good.
  2. Well, now that I have displayed my profound ignorance, I am glad to know who Matt Dickey was. Thank you all.
  3. All the best and may you be able to steer SLU in a direction of better academic standing, and improved sports programs.
  4. Last year I read a piece on Eagleton who talkied about becoming a walk on and described the fact that there were try outs for those that were willing to become walk ons. If I recall correctly the try outs were serious and including a lot of court time and evaluation.
  5. Best to you Roy. The surgeons are doing wonderful things with bypasses nowadays. I will pray that all goes well with the surgery and that you have an uncomplicated recovery.
  6. I do not know what game this happened in but Reggie was out cold laying on the court floor for a fair amount of time.
  7. The thing that bothers me about RA is that he has shown he is prone to injure himself. As far as we know he had a rotator cuff tear and a significant concussion last season. I hope part of his training since last season included accidental injury avoidance. Maybe he is just too aggressive for his own (and the team's) good. He surely is physically powerful, but I hope he takes better care of himself this year.
  8. I knew some Ghanians when i went to school, and later on in life I met professionally with other Ghanians. Ghanians appear to be, from my experience, very segregated and circumspect about other Ghanians unless they happen to be members of the same tribe. If they share tribal membership they know each other or about each other and become quite open and animated about it. There are many tribal groups in Ghana, not like Nigeria which only has three main tribal groups (Yoruba, Housa and Ibo), Ghanians have many. I hope Agbeko and this kid share common tribal backgrounds. That would go a LONG way to get him into SLU.
  9. Torch this list is interesting. Would you care to explain why Clayton, Ladue, Krikwood, and Webster Groves are not included in the foo foo municipalities list?
  10. Completely agree that at least in that one regard of body size and weight our new team will have some advantages over prior teams. Agree this has little meaning until we see how they play together, but I am also optimistic about this season.
  11. By what I have read, Joran gets his kicks out of killing women and robbing them, not out of basketball.
  12. I will follow your advice about the bottled water next time I go to Pittsburgh. Who would have known, Cowher's Revenge!
  13. Pittsburgh is in PA not in Mexico. Yes, I drank the water and the ice, something I do not do in Mexico, and did not have any trouble from doing this (in Pittsburgh not in Mexico). As for bars, if that is your thing you should talk about them in your post, I did not visit them in Pittsburgh. The restaurants I have gone to in Pittsburgh range from decent to very good and they generally serve booze.
  14. I like Pittsburgh as a place to visit. My daughter went to Carnegie Mellon and I always enjoyed my visits there. If you drive into the city at night, the view of downtown is spectacular, it just opens up as you come out of a tunnel in the mountains and there it: is a glistening jewel of a city between two rivers. Beautiful view. Pittsburgh has a museum dedicated to Andy Warhol which is very worthwhile to see. Also for those architecturally inclined, Falling Water, one of Frank LLoyd Wright's most incredibly beautiful houses, the one with the creek going though it, is about an hour east of Pittsburgh. Go visit it if you can, it is worth it. Keep in mind that the house if chock full of art treasures, the last owner was the curator of modern art at the met in NYC, including Diego Rivera's paintings. Incredible stuff in there! Pittsburgh is not a crumbling little town in the middle of nowhere it is a great city in its own right, and a place that is very different from many other cities. I always liked it a lot.
  15. SLU sign guy this is the best thing to do Please change your location from Nashville to Saint Louis.
  16. SLU has a much larger graduate program than UD that is why SLU's freshman class is smaller than theirs but the school is larger.
  17. These are my two cents worth, probably worth less than 2 cents but I want to say this. Statistics and prior results are OK when you are dealing with returning players that have played a significant amount of time. Otherwise what you have is largely a blank screen. I think we have a superbly talented team, even if they are not experienced, and expect them to be able to do better than the numbers and statistics from the prior season (s) indicate. How much better I do not know, but I would not be surprised if they do very well indeed.
  18. Yes indeed, the changes over time will be vast and will not be in favor of the best interests of everyone. The money does have to come out from somewhere.
  19. Tom I do not want to bother you with questions, but I am glad you are here. Thanks for all the information you provided in the SLU beat.
