  1. Nicely done Dwayne's_World, thank you for the effort you have put into this.
  2. ChosenOne it is not negativity you are posting about, it is just the fact that your point of view is based purely on basketball and there is absolutely no question that there are better programs than ours that probably look a lot more attractive to you personally. What is being posted here is that JT is apparently marching to the tune of a different drummer and that there are other factors that are important to his decision. St. Louis, the city and the people that live here, are important to him. You may not see it that way but, like broy posted, even looking at it from a basketball point of view coming to SLU has advantages for JT. We just have to be patient and wait for his decision.
  3. That is basically the point I was making in my prior post. We are plainly not better than Duke or the other schools, not in basketball. Our advantage is not in basketball at all.
  4. Agree with 3 star completely. This is where our strength lies. In all truth, as had already been said, we cannot put out the same kind of rally that UK could. We cannot compete with Duke or UK in terms of the quality of our recruits or the consistency in going to the NCAAB tournament each year. SLU is different from these basketball powerhouses and cannot be confused by anyone with them. What we have to offer is different, we are local, we are a school that graduates kids, not a revolving door for one and outs. As a school we have a strong set of values. These are the areas in which we can beat UK and Duke, let's make no mistake about this. If JT decides to come to SLU, it will be for reasons other than the excellence and status of our basketball program. If he decides to come here it will be a very different decision than what the one he would have to make to go to Duke or UK. Let's just keep this in mind, he is not going to come to SLU ONLY BECAUSE OF BASKETBALL. If he comes to SLU the attraction for him will lie elsewhere, in SLU itself and in St. Louis. We have to emphasize the differences between us and the other programs, not just try to copy their methods if we really want him to choose for us.
  5. With a number of the 2015 class recruits being released, VCU has many problems for next season.
  6. Got it, thanks Bills on Crews control. I have no idea who he is, so I am not advocating his coming here.
  7. I do not think it is necessary to despair about a choice between Duke and SLU. The two choices are so very different from one another in terms of what JT may expect to gain (or will have to give up) in either case that it will be a difficult choice for him. This is not a decision between KY and Duke in which case the two choices would be so close to one another as to be a matter of relatively minor differences. SLU and Duke present very different advantages to JT, and SLU is way ahead of Duke in many ways (but of course the opposite is also true). I guess it will become a decision that will test JT's values. What is it that makes the difference for him. In fact, just to be faced with a decision such as this speaks very highly about the kind of person JT is.
  8. If this is the case and he is interested in any one of these programs and can keep his academic grades, then he might be able to transfer to SLU
  9. I confirm that Irishdude is not related to me in any way, although we share the opinion that Grandy is better off staying where he is now, out of SLU's team.
  10. I know that just thinking about getting a deal like this is enormously satisfying to many members. However, realistically, we have to think of such a deal as we think of winning the power ball or something similar. Very nice thing to think and daydream about, very unlikely it will actually happen. I would be very happy if we get JT, or any of the other kids we have mentioned by themselves, not in a package. Any one of these kids would be a welcome addition to our team.
  11. I suppose, and may quite likely be wrong in this assumption, that to transfer and play a 5th year this man would have to be enrolled into some kind of academic program that Mizzou does not offer. Since Mizzou is so large and offers so very many diverse academic programs, both undergraduate and graduate, it may be difficult to find something that SLU offers and Mizzou does not. It may even be more difficult to find a program that this man may actually be able to maintain adequate grades and meets all other criteria for the transfer. I do not think, however good a basketball player he may be, that this is a viable option for SLU.
  12. JT will do whatever he decides to do, when he gets to it.
  13. Regardless, Gone Girl was one hell of a movie...
  14. Only with a full moon if there are any, we may have to watch for a month or so to find out.
  15. Agree with this post. Besides it must be remembered that we live in an era where people adore and look up to celebrities of all kinds. Shaka has become one of these celebrities, an object of adoration by people at large. This is something that has positive and negative sides to it. I think he positive side of Shaka (the honesty with which he conducts himself in recruiting, the fact that he is an accomplished head coach) is obscured by the negative side of Shaka (the media adoration, attention seeking, the trademarked Havoc, the pictures of a hairless Shaka in hair products advertisements). The Shaka many of us see is like the (male) Kim Kardashian of the basketball world. Shaka together with his celebrity buddy Spike Lee are a machine for seeking public attention and adoration. This is not necessarily bad, it makes lots of money for them, and creates a fantasy world for the adoring public.
  16. Of course he will be at Texas until he moves elsewhere.
  17. The players in this particular game were not our players. The good news is that Crews can coach quite nicely, if the players are capable of following.
  18. That is very perceptive of you, also very true.
  19. Sure it is possible. An MBA school just like a law school, or a grad school of education has any number of specialized programs. You can get programs in anything you want, from international bartering to the development of synthetic trading algorithms. The problem is to find an MBA school that has a suitable specialized program in a university that has a basketball program at D1 or D2 level. You can always defend your position that your desire is to have an MBA in international bartering, and use it to get approval, although this may take some work. Look at it this way: if you find an MBA school with a program in international bartering you can be almost certain that a) very few if any other MBA schools will offer such a program, and your basic required courses for the MBA will be the same as everyone else's. You will graduate with an MBA, and you may even be able to switch programs after your basketball scholarship ends. This is not unattainable. I bet that there are any number of MBA special programs available elsewhere that are not offered at the SLU Cook School of Business. It is worth a try.
