1. Oh, and since you asked, no I did not attend nor graduate from SLU. Rather, Cal Berkeley. While I am not disparaging SLU as an academic institution, last I checked it's not Cal. So maybe save the rap, troll?
 2. Why do people so readily point out Burwell's ridiculous articles? Well, because, he does such a poor job. Let me guess, you think it for other reasons? Who cares.
 3. I just did. Don't be so sensitive. Burwell does not deserve that job. That column was an embarrassing joke. He doesn't even know which schools are currently in which conference. So too bad.
 4. Are you kidding, the guy got everything wrong in the post. I've worked as a reporter, and not for the college newspaper, and I can tell you that this is embarrassingly bad. It's not like a typo or grammatical error. He clearly did ZERO homework. So save your personal attacks on me, troll.
 5. Wow! Worst. Column. Ever. From one of the worst columnists I've ever seen. When will the post fire that guy? What an embarrassment. And the editors should be ashamed of themselves for this. I'm gonna say it: Token!
 6. Ok, hold on, hold on.....me and buddy regularly concoct a story we tell, primarily at destination weddings, that "John Stamos is staying in the hotel." We tell one single female and the story spreads like wildfire. It's hilarious to watch it come back around to us, and all the people who lie and say they "saw him at the pool, beach, gym, restaurant, etc earlier in the day." Don't ask why we picked Stamos. For some reason, it's believable and hilarious. My friend is the one who claims to have come up with the idea, and I thought it was original, but is a Stamos sighting/appearance the 'snipe hunting' of the new millenia?
 7. Hehehehe......"I'm the best, I'm the best, I'm the best, and nobody beats me!"
 8. Well, if someone who calls himself 'The Wiz' says so.....lol. I would agree however that winning out probably results in a 3 seed (maybe 2?). I would still be happy with a 4 seed, if that's where things wind up.
 9. Irishdawg, As a transplant from the STL to the west coast, it's always nice to see Midwest class. Good luck to Butler the rest of the way. I think all Billiken fans aspire to what Butler has created. Pretty sure our teams will face one another in conference play for years to come.
 10. Either the Billikens are a top 12 team, or the A-10 is a second tier conference. FYI, I don't think the A-10 is second tier. This team is more than on a hot streak. Going into a team like Butler's building would douse that if SLU were truly playing above it's head. No, the Bills are deep and play together as a team as well as any I've seen in a long while. There could also be something else at work. I'm not willing to necessarily say it's the case, but the Majerus passing may have brought them together that much more. They could be playing for him and one another (some of the player quotes I've read seem to indicate that). Whatever the reason, they are about as gelled as a college basketball team gets. If they do get to the Sweet-16, expect them to become THE story in the tournament for as long as they stay alive.
 11. Absolutely. And maybe Stevens was playing it straight up when he said he thought SLU could make it to the final four? Win out, and at least make it to the conference tourney final, and no worse than a 4 seed should be in order. With that kind of seeding, we could be looking at elite 8 or better.
 12. I believe I said that I thought Charlotte would beat the spread (your spread?). Win some, lose some. I was certainly glad to see SLU dominate though. I still believe Charlotte an under rated team in the conference, a la Xavier. I think the Billikens however are just stronger than even I thought, and I've thought SLU a Sweet 16 or better team for a while. I hope that you are not telling us that you have yet to misdiagnos a spread? Just curious.

No matter what, it will be close.

We could either win or lose

Oh please.

 15. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Taj79" data-cid="342769" data-time="1360876303">
I think ACE is right on in acting like this loss might wake up Butler. However, I think Butler has been riding the name recognition wave this year ..... two final games in three years, not good last year, they eke out a one-point win over Marquette in Maui, follow that by beating an abviously flawed, young and not-too-good UNC team in Maui, move through the other, lesser Indiana teams and then catch a break when a former walk-on beats #1 Indiana. At that point, muich like a recovered junkie finding old smack, the nation remembers Butler and the love affair is quickly rekindled. This is reaffirmed by a prayer of a win against Gonzaga and a nice start (albeit against questiona\ble A10 teams) against SJU, Dayton and Richmond. And because of that old rekindled love affair, they are still in the top ten or so.

Butler can and might beat us in Hinkle but I stil am not impressed. Just to break even, they have to beat us by the reciproical 27 we kicked their arse on in Chaifetz.

Look at that roster of victories you just laid out for Butler. It's impressive.

However, you pretty much put a qualifier on each that somehow makes them not worth much. Butler is not a good team, they're a great team relative to competitors this year.
 16. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="kwyjibo" data-cid="342759" data-time="1360874247">
Not most likely; very unlikely. They have to nearly win out to be considered (they are a decent team but going 7-2 or better down the stretch seems to be more like a 5% probability).

Sorry, I edited my post while you were posting your response. I think that they are not necessarily now a tourney team, but more than capable of being one, and not necessarily with an A-10 tourney win. Again, I think youre under rating them, but we shall see.
 17. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Littlebill" data-cid="342757" data-time="1360874060">
I disagree. Charlotte played a weaker non-conference schedule than we did. (No kidding) Only one good team. (Granted, it was a quality Miami squad) They have one good win. ONE. That was their game last night at Hinkle-without BU's big man. I think, assuming the Bills show up, we cover the Wiz's spread fairly easily. We're the class of this league and we'll continue to show it on Saturday.

Well, Little bill, that's why they play the games. I think we'll win regardless. Would love a cake walk, am just not betting on it. Hopefully the Bills aren't taking your view.
 18. Forgetting for a moment about the fact that, barring a meltdown, Butler is a tourney team, I would also make the point that Charlotte still has the potential to be as well. They've been under-rated all year. On top of that, the Butler win makes this a HUGE game for them in the standings. SLU would be wise to not look past them, regardless of the home court advantage. Hopefully Crews has them focused. The last spot SLU wants to be is at 7-3 and going on the road to Butler. Huge game for us as well. I'd take Charlotte to at least beat an 11 1/2 pt spread. This will be a tough game.
 19. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="cheeseman" data-cid="342563" data-time="1360786888">
OK - I am confused. Everybody says how hard it is to recruit to SLU - so why would Crews not be like all the others before him except for RM? You can not discount his prior recruiting record for any of the reasons listed above since they are his history and history is a predictor of how a person will perform.

Being a good bench coach, Crews should have an eye for talent and determining who in the second to third tier of recruits can thrive in his system. SLU has more recruiting advantages than Evansville (and certainly Army), so Crews should benefit from that.
