  1. My complaints have nothing to do with quantity and Stu has nothing to do with Mizzou articles.
  2. RU, don't burst the Yuri haters' bubbles! I'd say there's a lot more to say about Okoro's 5 turnovers in last night's loss than in Yuri's 10 assists. Maybe The Wiz's computer should've clarified that factor is when the other 20% comes into play.
  3. While we're at it I might shove him in a locker, or give him a swirlie. That oughta get my point across. That may be true, but I get the impression that he'd be more interested in the Billiken position than the Cardinals one. I imagine the pay is comparable if not better if Stu has done it this long while raising a family. Maybe I'm wrong on both accounts, but I doubt Carter would continue doing as much as he does for SLU coverage on the side if he didn't truly love it that much.
  4. The least smelly turd is still a turd. Give the job to Carter. Fu** Stu.
  5. I think we were hit the hardest in the country and I think a little bit of research would certify that. Both in quantity and duration. No need to posthumously invalidate that justified excuse because of a current sour taste.
  6. I was long a defender. I'm not anymore. I agree with @dlarry in that there's no reason we can't salvage a bit of a postseason, make an A10 run and squeak a tournament bid, but at this point short of winning the damn national championship he has got to go. I even think him going now wouldn't be a bad idea. Send a message, wake up the team, and see what it can do for the rest of the season.
  7. He acts as if he hates the Billikens. It's always a majority of highlighting negatives (granted there are often many negatives to choose from) and a minimal amount of reluctantly announcing the positives. His articles are often better than his social media presence but even in the articles I find that he doesn't do a good enough job at framing the highlights and accomplishments of the individuals or teams that he's covering. In fact I've seen examples of him (seemingly) intentionally spinning particular pieces of info in a manner that trivializes or demeans the significance of it...I most recently remember that about a soccer article this fall and there were more examples the further back we go. A trained monkey could be as good as Stu at his job if they were also granted the access that he is. Yes, he's gotten better, because the bar was set so very low. And it was set even lower by the many beat writers before him. But the biggest reason he's gotten better, invested more time and energy, and increased the quantity of his content is because Carter Chapley gave him no choice but to do so. As soon as he came on the scene there was pressure for the Post-Dispatch to step up their game and though they did so I'd say minimally. Carter's content has ALWAYS been better and it's always written and presented like he's not only knowledgeable, but passionate and actually hopes for the best for the program. They should have moved Carter to the Billiken beat a long time ago and put Stu in the fu**ing mail room, or at least some other area. I'm sick of him.
  8. This should surprise nobody because Stu Durando is TERRIBLE at his job.
  9. Nobody was actually taking jabs at Slu Sign Guy and everybody, including Slu Sign Guy (but apparently excluding you), knew that.
  10. Love that we're stealing a player from Indiana but my question is how important was he to them? Does he look to be a significant role player here next year? @courtside
  11. I just purchased it on ebay, looking forward to it.
  12. I think Brian is smart enough to know this but stubborn enough to spin it another way for the sake of a ridiculous, blasphemous argument.
  13. Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are #1 and #2 on the NBA's list of missed field goals. They're also #4 and #2 in all-time points. Exactly. My point above ^.
  14. No, Skip, because these people are without logic and reason. Usage rate, pass rate, time under pressure...none of that matters. Critical thinking is too much to ask for.
  15. The way this year is going I encourage everyone to enjoy healthy, consistent amounts of their favorite vices. In a proper world we'd be able to invoice the bills for said vices to the SLU athletic department.
  16. Probably not. I'm sure it's mathematically possible but I'm trying to force myself to live in reality.
  17. Yuri, Javonte, and Goodwin are all three some of the better Billikens of all time. At a minimum you can't argue Goodwin.
  18. I don't disagree but we're not talking about those passes. It's the routine passes that slip through our front court's hands that I'm referring to - and there's many of those.
  19. How often have we complained about moving screens? See: Obi Toppin. You and I both know they don't get called a VAST majority of the time. It's how the screen is set far more than it is when. Okoro set the screen with a shoulder, can't do that. BUT if that's the logic we're using, let's talk about the turnovers credited to Yuri that are really the fault of the receivers
  20. Okoro fouled out because he laid a shoulder into the defender he was screening. Yuri might've left early, I'm not arguing that, but what got the call was the much larger Okoro setting an obviously illegal screen on a much smaller defender. He does this often and gets away with it. The other argument I'm not willing to settle on is that Yuri's tendency to over-drive and take shots we'd probably rather he didn't is at least in part, arguably in large part or majority, due to his teammates lack of movement (Gibby excluded) and overall inability to score the fu**ing basketball. Most importantly, yes, I wish Yuri was better at closing games. We'd be in a different situation right now and surely a lot happier. Wouldn't hurt if someone else could close out a game too, though, including Ford.
  21. If coach installed a decent offense, we were running in transition more often, and the other guys were doing their jobs better he'd have the option to revert to only passing, but none of those seem to be the case.
