  1. Just look at the history of the last ten years and tell me 5 programs that have been made better in the athletic department. Just 5. That's 1 every two years, not a very high bar. Go.
  2. I've found out that the AD reads this site, along with many other higher ups at SLU. I was even scolded by a boardmember a couple weeks ago for speaking the truth! I haven't seen that poster here defending AD and management. That is insane, that you have boardmembers and AD worrying about a public message board. What that tells me is that they are and have been paranoid. It's not hard to do the right thing, unless you aren't good at your job or ethically you aren't a good professional. I agree the university is systemically broken. I've heard people say this isn't on AD, I disagree. He is in charge and has no problem taking all the credit when things are good, but not when they are bad? Not buying it. If he was running a company and there were two major incidents of sexual assault under his watch don't you think after the second one, somebody would wise up and say there won't be a third? And those are just incidents we know about publicly. He's the leader and making apologies for him and Pestello is wrong. They are paid to lead not be innocent bystanders. They are both jinx's to SLU overall. This is my last rant in AD and Pestello. Beating a dead horse.
  3. Lindenwood Billiards Team who play at St. Charles Hot Shots.
  4. Those NCAA MBB credits start peeling off this year at $300 k a year and following 2 years. $900k total gone in three years. We aren't going to tournament anytime soon.
  5. This is actually the third sexual assault case/problem an athletic department has endured with Chris May as a part of it, twice as AD at SLU and when he was at Colorado. SLU has always been considered a stepping stone jon for ADs and coaches....until they get someone local, yes local and actually wants to be a program builder and wants to be in St Louis. That's just my opinion.
  6. From what I've heard, the reason Goodwin was able to play was because he couldn't be identified by the girls. Now, what happened between now and then to drag him into this deal and was there some type of cover up from the get go? Because he wasn't even mentioned as the fourth player until today. Somebody in that department, team and coaching staff knows what really happened. I wonder if SLU's security department has a report they can release? Because if Goodwin was the fourth, but couldn't be identified that's odd and if it's another player's name in the report, then something is fishy. I've been trying to wrap my head around tht one all evening. Am I way off?
  7. If these guys are enrolled as students at the university, why can't they go and sit in the student section? That's what I'd do tonight if I were them.
  8. I think the way Coach Ford has handled this situation and guided the team has been great. If any positive comes from this deal, it's that the MBB team has had the opportunity to actually be a "team." Again I feel for all parties involved, I really do but this team has heart, which is very uncommon these days. I just hope Coach doesn't get fed up with the university administration politics and leave after this season. I wouldn't blame him and would be disappointed. Hopefully this will be the week finally!
  9. A while back I said I thought the Stone era would be considered a bust and I forgot who it was but somebody thought I was being a troll or trying to be mean, that was not my intention, nor still is. Today was a good example of why I said what I said. The WBB program wasn't even a good D3 program when she took it over and she's done a great job making it respectable. I think her personality is great and she seems like a nice lady, but being nice doesn't win games. The problem is this program was and is so over-hyped, notorious for playing a very soft nonconference schedule year after year and zero NCAA appearances, all while having 4 years of the best player in program history. I actually don't blame Coach Stone, she had a big target placed on her by AD over the years and it's not fair, but now it's reality. If we hold MBB coaches to same standard, then she needs to be held to how many NCAA appearances the team has made, especially to justify her extension and I'm sure a pay raise. How many more seasons will she have to get to tournament? The road to the NCAA tournament looks like it's running through Dayton again this year. Just asking the question because I realize it's not easy to answer.
  10. Good thing, if anyone tries to talk to him they'd get their elbows pinched, eyes scratched out and hit over the head with a purse.
  11. I think I figured out the problem Stu keeps asking Underwood about SLU Title IX, go ask Travis Ford. Geez
  12. Very well said. I can say one of the candidates who turned the job down said it wasn't salary. Plus the people you work with in the building makes or breaks any job. I'm starting to think McGinty did a lot better of a job with what he was given. Not saying I agreed with his coaching style but just saying it wasn't all his fault.
  13. Really? That is insane, no wonder. Chris May is the Marvin Lewis of college ADs.
  14. Outside of caring what's happening to all these young people, I'm past the point of worrying about this basketball season. All parties involved will have to live with this the rest of their lives. The longer it's dragged on the more it has hurt all parties involved. Not sure who to point finger at but it is sad.
  15. I think lack of a plan across the whole department is the problem why the place is in the position it is as of today. Unless a big donor says hire this guy Mr. AD and tells him what to do history is doomed to repeat itself is my fear. Question is who is available at this point that isn't older or interested? Maybe a MLS assistant? That's why it's gotta be an assistant coach is my opinion.
  16. Well said, if this whole experience isn't a reality check on various levels I don't know what is. Good post!
  17. Like when you try to tell the guy hang in there at a game and he looks through you and doesn't even acknowledge your presence. Then gives you a look like, get the hell out of my way. He might have some type of social disability I think, not trying to be mean. It was so bizarre. After telling about my experience to other people, friends, alumni, it's a pattern for sure. Not good for that type of job. He very well could be a good man, just shouldn't be in a job where your main role is dealing with people and general public.
  18. Again, how to you fire a coach and not have the replacement ready to go? I've heard from connected soccer alumni, the next coach is still coaching in college cup. Ok. Guess that didn't pan out. AD is getting big time coach. Still waiting. We are hiring alum who is head coach. He said NO. Something is not right and I'm sorry two months is embarrassing. Just waiting to hear, we originally wanted a head coach, but after meeting this assistant coach from fill in the blank: Louisiville, UNC, Akron, blah, blah, blah....he was our guy all along. Hope I'm wrong but the way this has dragged, I think I'll be right. Here's hoping for the best and a big surprise. I'll be happy to eat my words!
  19. How does 4th player get to play? Just curious, that doesn't seem fair.
  20. If there are no criminal charges they should be playing. End of story.
  21. That was my point about Bellichek and Brady going to the Browns. That guy is sharp and walked into a bigger mess than he was led on to believe. It is very complicated and more sensitive than people realize.
