Yes that was our best chance, but not the only chance.  Like I said, the BE will be adding again, who has more than us without argument? Just Gonzaga? And that comes with a 3k mile flight every game.

It has to be a mix of market and success.  Belmont is the absolute strongest suiter along with WSU.  People think I'm kidding, I would really look into Toronto.  The more I think about it, the more I like it the most.

Toronto invites visa issues that arise from time to time.  The Blue Jays in MLB had to play in Buffalo during pandemic.  I hope that's not repeated, but it seems to be more trouble than it's worth.  And, is Toronto even an NCAA member?

So many teams should be booted from the A-10!  Maybe the Bills should bolt!!

    Blue font.

I was trying to be facetious. Some on this board say kick this or that team out. That’s not happening.

Ok, then bolt. . .to where?  Who wants us?  Our ‘golden year’ has us on the bubble, maybe. What conference that we want to be in is champing at the bit for that?

but it is not cut throatish to take part of the conference and run away to start a new conference originating with just the select members of said conference?

i am pretty sure if they form a new conference there will be a period of time they will likely not be included in the tournament or limited to the number of teams that can get in the tourney.

It is and it isn’t.  While the intent of being free of the anchor of certain schools is the same, forcibly removing a school takes the choice away from the ejected school. Leaving on your own allows the undesired school to stay in the conference.

you only need 8 teams in the conference to have a majority.   rather than go to the trouble of forming a new conference, get the 8 best possible to agree and take over the frickin conference.

then take some steps to get this once nice conference turned around.

    1. boot the bottom feeders (lasalle and fordham come to mind)

2.fire bernadette and hire a new commish that is interested in actually having a top conference that wins, not just expansion for anyone and everyone.

    3.  put in place some minimum standards for the members and any of the members lacking get a promise they will work to getting to those minimums asap (give them a time bomb do it or leave as well).

those three steps alone will elevate the A-10 back to at least where we were before. initially i wouldnt be too worried about having more than 9 or 11 members.  typically those below that will only bring down the overall ranking of the conference.

Is there historical precedent for bottom feeders to be booted from any conference?  It seems too cut throatish for an academic institution to do.   I can't recall one, but I don't have the collective memory of this board.

  5. I think Forrester has a real shot to supplant Okoro as the starter.  Minutes reasonably evenly split last night, but Okoro didn't show me much on the offensive end while Forrester did more on offense.  Not incredible stuff, just significantly more.  On D, neither shined.  Okoro is the much better defender, even if he didn't dominate last night.

Coach getting on Okoro last night hopefully sent him a constructive message.

Maybe a matchup to matchup situation.

I know there are players in the foreign leagues that get paid salaries which are close to the NBA, but wonder how much the average foreign league salary to US players is. I think Goodwin is not doing badly when compared to the average foreign league salaries.

While everyone likes to gripe about their tax rates in the US, tax rates are much higher in Europe as well.

That isn't accurate. You can enroll in college for the first time at age 38 and be a scholarship athlete if you're good enough. The clock starts ticking when you enroll so you have 5 years after that unless you get a waiver.

Back in the '80s, Georgia Tech had Yvon Joseph who was 27 and playing for the Yellow Jackets.  Georgetown had Ronnie Highsmith, who did a stint in the Army, and was 28 and playing for the Hoyas.

  8. At a state school, the university president is as much of a political job, as it is academic/administrative.  Gotta keep the gov/legislators happy.

As I see it, at the state schools, the gov/legislators are the only ones who can keep the status quo.  If they want to keep the status quo, that is.

The container on vessel port that will be coming soon will be a game changer for the region and Midwest.

I'm actually in this industry and question I ask is, 'who is putting up their own money to make this work?  No one has given me an answer.  The container vessels moving up and down the river aren't free and can't be used for anything else.  Has anyone raised their hand and said, 'yes, put me down for 2 container vessels to move containers up and down the river.'

It may work, it may not, but it takes a lot of other people's money to get the conversation started.
