  1. Why does Charlotte have to be so far away? Next game will be on tv. Channel 207 if you have charter cable.
  2. The starting time for today's soccer game has been switched to 1pm. It was originally scheduled for 2pm. Don't want anyone getting there an hour late.
  3. They take the top six teams. Here are the current standings (sorry for the crappy formatting). 2010 STANDINGS Conference Overall W L T Pts. W L T Pts. Charlotte 6 1 0 18 11 5 0 33 St. Bonaventure 5 3 0 15 10 7 0 30 Massachusetts 4 1 2 14 5 4 7 22 La Salle 4 2 1 13 6 6 3 21 Fordham 4 3 0 12 9 7 0 27 Xavier 4 3 0 12 7 5 3 24 Saint Louis 4 3 0 12 7 6 2 23 Temple 4 3 0 12 6 8 2 20 Duquesne 4 4 0 12 8 7 2 26 Dayton 3 2 2 11 7 6 3 24 Richmond 3 4 0 9 4 11 1 13 Rhode Island 1 5 1 4 3 11 2 11 Saint Joseph's 1 6 0 3 2 13 0 6 George Washington0 7 0 0 2 14 0 6 They play Rhode Island on Friday and UMASS on Sunday. The soccer Bills have not lost a home game yet this year...so let's hope the trend continues. They need to win these final conference games.
  4. It hasn't changed...Adnan plays exactly like you stated. No doubt he has a lot of potential but it's frustrating watching him play because he appears lazy. I don't want to be too critical because he has scored goals. I just think he could accomplish so much more if he pressured the defense and worked harder to get the ball instead of standing around waiting for it to be given to him. As a player coming off the bench there is no excuse for his lack of hustle.
  5. Pais was in goal, not Shackleford. Final score 4-1. Adnan scored for SLU. Disappointing result...time to regroup and get ready to play Drake.
  6. Other starters from last year: Roach - started 17 games Bortolon - started 17 games Maglasang - started 19 games Pais - started 5 games This team has a lot of potential. Any thoughts on how the line up will change when/if Roach comes back?
  7. I counted 5 returning starters who started for SLU last night. Dice Brown AJ (his first start this season) Sweetin Robson Other starters Shackleford-transfer Vandergriffe-transfer Estes Briggs-freshman Holmes Roeckle-freshman McGinty seems undecided with the right wing midfield spot as several different players have started there. Maglasang, Sito and AJ have each had a start at this position. This team has some depth and the coach has options. Adnan needs to up his work rate if he wants to get playing time. I could tell McGinty was frustrated with him...constantly giving him directions from the sideline. The coach was not happy with the 2 goals SLU allowed. The first one looked like it could have been saved...lobbed over the goalies head...if only he was an inch or two taller. Second goal was a defensive blunder. ORU player was unmarked in the penalty area and capitalized on a failed head ball clearance by a SLU defender. ORU was not a strong opponent but it was good to see SLU score and win!!!!! I'm anxious to see how they fare against TULSA...a rematch of last year's NCAA 2nd round game.
  8. I don't know if McGinty has finalized the starting eleven. In the New Mexico game Maglasang and Bortolon started...Sito never played. Against USF Bortolon did not play. He seems to like Holmes as he is starting and playing lots of minutes. The back four appear to be set. The midfield and forward players could change from game to game. It's good that he has options. I also thought this was the most vocal McGinty has been. Not only was he giving the refs an earful...he was constantly giving instructions to the players...mostly about positioning.
  9. Ream's looking good in the Red Bull uniform!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I think it is great that RM wants his players to do well academically. I am sure all the coaches at SLU would like their students to do well academically. Juggling athletics and academics is a challenge. It's part of being a student athlete. Do any of the other teams at SLU fly charter? I doubt it.
  11. Are charter flights common in Division 1 basketball? Seems like a luxury when most universities are having budget cuts. Sorry RM...it might be inconvenient to travel like the normal folks, but times have changed. Sorry you might have to stand in the security line or sit in an airport for a layover but charter flights in this economy are not necessary.
  12. Congratulations to the Billikens for working hard and bringing home some hardware.
  13. Thanks for your point of view. This is what I heard from a SLU fan at the game, very similar to what you said. The ball was turned over in the midfield which left the defense vulnerable as SLU was attacking and could not get back in time. The SLU defender kicked the ball out as the UD attacker had the ball several yards in front of him, then they collided. A penalty was called. The SLU coach walked on the field to argue the call and got a yellow. Then he proceeded to punch the plexiglass resulting in a red.
  14. Since you were at the Dayton/SLU game I would like your opinion on the controversial PK call, which resulted in the only goal, and subsequent redcard to Donigan. I was not at the game.
  15. Interesting article on Charlotte. http://www.ncaa.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/102209aaa.html
  16. Back to the game: Slu definately needs to stop giving up early goals because of defensive breakdowns...they can't keep putting themselves in a hole. Do you think SLU should have been awarded a penalty kick in the second half when A. Johnston was taken down in the box? Flash forward to next year. Although Ream and Viviano have made mistakes they are two veteran players...who will replace them. The lack of depth in the soph and jr class is a problem. Should this be blamed on bad recruiting, recruits who did not live up to expectations, or was there little money available for scholarships at the time.
  17. It was not my intention to post negatively about Estes. I was surpised to see him in the game...he had a broken foot in the pre-season...I did not think he would play this year. He scored a lot of goals for his club team(Pateadores) and he will help the Bills on offense...give him time to get fully fit.
  18. Estes played on Saturday verse Clemson...about 10 mins first half, 6 mins second half. He didn't look fit or comfortable...possible case of nerves with first collegiate game appearance. I think he will be fine but he needs a bit more training time.
  19. Courtside, I enjoy watching soccer and attend many of the SLU games. I like reading the reviews of the games on this board and thought your summary of the Tulsa game was good. I needed instant reply to try and figure out how Tulsa scored the 1st and 4th goals but your description answered those questions for me. Continue to call it as you see it.
