  1. This is strictly hypothetical, because I haven’t held a sign since my student section days, but would a simple black and white sign saying “Ford Out” be allowed into the arena? Or would it be confiscated/security involved to prevent it? I feel like it wouldn’t be allowed to fly. I’ve only ever seen that one shirt that a guy had made that said Fire Ford on one side and Fire May for not Firing Ford on the other… and what were they gonna make him do, strip down? Also if you’re on here do you sell those shirts?
  2. We will count it as 0.5 wins in the pursuit of 20.
  3. I don’t care if you’ve got Helen Keller playing major minutes at the 5, you don’t blow 18 point second half leads. The Angry Elf has solidified our position as a laughing stock.
  4. Unacceptable to not play Curcic and Thames more in second half.
  5. Good effort from some of the players. Leave the entire coaching staff in f***** Iowa
  6. Only Travis could’ve taken an 18 point second half lead and said, how can I screw this up, and executed it perfectly
  7. Dalger in La La land out there defensively
  8. It’s like any time someone does something good, Travis pulls them…. Thames baseline dunk, yanked. Curcic playing tough, yanked.
  9. Bruh. For every one decent play there’s four hilariously bad ones.
  10. Gibson dragged to the floor while attempting a layup and somehow it’s their ball. Officials comical too.
  11. Dalger is just comically bad. I get that we have NO ONE else. But it’s really funny watching him do some of the stuff he does.
  12. We all knew the collapse was inevitable, but the speed at which it transpired was truly impressive.
  13. I just tuned in and first thing I heard them say was than Van Bussel was a junior and Zhang was from Japan… you must be easily impressed!
  14. few of us been begging for him to get more minutes all year. Ford was finally left no choice
  15. Pretty sad that that’s our best case scenario, basically.
  16. Probably would be under a lot of pressure from coaching staff to play, as only chance of them keeping their jobs is a miracle run in Brooklyn.
  17. Probably the most down I’ve ever been on our program, been following since early 2000s…. At least in Crews’ final years, we had recent success to look back on, and knew that it was coming to an end sooner than later. Only thing close is the Soderberg years, and I’d 100% take Uncle Brad over Ford right now.
  18. Another game that will be non-competitive by the 10:00 mark of the first half. Yippee!
  19. good post A Bomb, thanks for putting the effort into it. The issue is that too many are still content with mediocrity. It will have to get much, much worse for that group (we all know who we’re talking about here) to ever call for May or Ford’s job. Mediocrity = smaller crowds= shorter bathroom/food lines, shorter waits for golf cart ride to/from garage, fewer drunk young people yelling obscenities, cheaper tickets, more elbow space/open seats, etc. There is a large section of Billiken fandom for whom Billiken games are mainly a social event/ easy way to get out of the house on a weeknight… sold out crowds/attention on the program only threaten all that. We see this group only dig their heels deeper when confronted with the program’s current direction under May and Ford. I am obviously being somewhat exaggerative here, but it is based on truth, although none would admit it. Far too many are happy with the way things are. I fear it will take multiple seasons of Crews-level mediocrity before we see any real change at a coaching or AD level.
  20. If you’re a big time donor, are you going to give money to a BVF under Ford’s control? I have absolutely no inside info, but I imagine the pocketbooks would open up a little bit more under Mack, Bryce Drew, or basically anyone else. Ford has shown he doesn’t know how to recruit in the NIL era. Would be a terrible investment.
  21. Fan pressure/opinion is one of the main drivers of decision making in college athletics. I doubt Texas A&M was thrilled about paying jimbo fisher $70mil+ to buy him out, but their fans would’ve rioted had they kept him any longer. To stay silent on Ford is to be complicit in this program’s slow painful death. Seems to be exactly what Chris May wants…. So no, we wont and shouldn’t keep quiet. Ford’s repeated failures should be the predominant talking point of this board until he is fired or shows he can fix them (he hasn’t fixed them in 8 years here, don’t imagine that’s coming any time soon). We are all here because we love SLU hoops, to sit on our hands and act like this program isn’t in disastrous shape with Ford at the helm is outrageous. I won’t do it.
  22. It’s a gameday thread… for yet another game where we were unprepared and non competitive (until the last five minutes, by which point it was too late). If we can’t discuss our coach’s deficiencies here, we can’t discuss them anywhere. Maybe every thread can stop being hijacked with excuses for why we are totally non-competitive. “if only Parker played we would’ve won” First, I don’t believe that and I’d argue anyone who isn’t wearing Blue tinted glasses would agree he wouldn’t have prevented wide open shots and a total lack of inside presence. Second, ENOUGH of the excuses for why we lose. Parker isn’t available. Injuries happen to every team. They have a new coach and 11 new players and they wiped the floor with us for 35 minutes.
  23. People saying we win that with Parker are delusional. Our trouble was not on offense, it was that they could get a wide open shot literally whenever they wanted. We had to double the post almost every possession, and they did a phenomenal job of kicking out to open shooters. And if we didn’t double, their bigs feasted. Parker doesn’t change any of that.
