  1. While I do feel for the ISU fans, I care about SLU basketball, and what is best for us. You've been here a long time, you know that what can go wrong, often does go wrong for our program. And until Schertz signs officially on the dotted line, and it’s announced, there is the possibility of something going wrong. If ISU losing is what it takes to get this across the line, I sure as hell will be rooting for them to lose.
  2. I know it’s kind of your thing to be Devil’s Advocate on this board, and I respect the willingness to “commit to the bit”, but we obviously don’t want to have to wait until April to name Schertz coach. Maybe you don’t care who our coach is, but potential transfers and recruits do.
  3. Coach Tate seems like a great guy, but I’d have serious questions as to what he has brought the program the last couple years… when we were getting local guys like Goodwin, Yuri, Hargrove to commit to us over major programs, he was worth having on staff. By the end of Ford’s tenure it seemed like we had quit recruiting STL HS guys altogether.
  4. I’ve thought about it, and I’m pretty sure it’s best if ISU just loses tonight. Don’t need Larry Blurred to have any more national exposure prior to transferring to SLU. I don’t want some big name school poaching him from under our noses. Schertz without his guys is still an attractive candidate. Schertz with his guys, and a few more portal additions, is a likely A10 favorite year 1.
  5. I’ll leave it up to Schertz (assuming he gets the job) to determine which players on the roster he can use in his system. For me, there isn’t a single player on the roster that is a MUST keep. If he can use Gibby and Ezewiro, I think they’re both A10 quality. Parker seems too selfish for Schertz’s system.
  6. Yep, for all the credit he gets for our 2019 A10 tourney win, people seem to forget we were overwhelming preseason favorites that year. That team featured Goodwin, French, Bess, Isabell, Foreman, Gordon, Wiley, Thatch, and Jacobs at the start of the season. That’s a ridiculous amount of talent for an A10 team. And all he could muster was a 6th place conference finish. That should’ve been a way bigger red flag than it was… instead May essentially said, “Let me sign this man for life.”
  7. I think we need to stop primarily looking for this type of coach, at least while we are still in the A10. If Schertz comes in and turns us into a regional hoops power and stays for 30 years, awesome. But there’s nothing wrong with consistently getting to VCU’s level either. Hiring up and comers and moving them on to bigger programs every 3-4 years after a few NCAA tournaments is nothing to scoff at for an A10 program. Obviously we’d all like more than that, but that’s a good place to start. I don’t think willingness to stay for 20+ years should be a main criteria in our coaching search.
  8. Selfishly, I want Schertz wrapped up as soon as possible, which means an early NIT loss. However, if he’s already a done deal just waiting to be announced, and we can assume he’s bringing a few starters with him, a deep NIT run might be beneficial for us for next season. But that seems a little like counting your chickens before they hatch…
  9. It is truly hilarious that the same posters that defended Ford until it became clear his position as coach was indefensible, are now the ones saying Ahearn could be the answer. And throwing water on Schertz, when he very clearly is our best option. Is he guaranteed to succeed? No. Does Schertz arriving along with 3-5 players from a team that was ranked last year while playing in the MVC give us a better chance at success than a guy who’s never coached in college? You don’t have to be a genius to figure out that one.
  10. Bingo. As @Dr Bird said, I don’t think any of those guys are recommending Ahearn because he’s in the program’s best interest. It’s a favor to a friend. Are they gonna pitch into our NIL fund, or help recruit guys here to help him succeed? No. Then why should their opinion be taken as anything other than kind words about a friend?
  11. No. Get a coach in that knows how to coach in-game. Get people excited about the program again. Win. And NIL money will follow.
  12. Would we potentially have to wait for an Indiana St. NIT run, or could a hiring be announced if they’re not selected Sunday?
  13. Seems like you’d want to play a kid like that, but ford never quite figured that out.
  14. If we end up with any worse than Schertz, Wade, Devries, or Mack, I’m done for good . Would maybe take Mcccollum. No Crean, Ahearn, Cuonzo, etc. I’m split on Porter. Would rather have one of the top 4, but could maybe be convinced.
  15. The original marketing gimmick. Not Ford’s style unfortunately.
  16. I’d have mostly agreed prior to this season. Media has always been Ford’s friend. Without support from his media friends this would’ve happened this time last year.
  17. I’m backkkkk. not to kick a guy while he’s down or anything, but Ford lost the title of “good guy” for me this year, between the “nothing better to do” comments, constant whining and excuse making, and son’s burner account. Genuine thanks to him for raising the talent level over our D2 level Crews teams, but this was long past due
  18. I’m out y’all, until Ford is out. Can’t waste any more time, money, mental health on this joke of a program. Head coach is an egotistical moron, players have quit, rest of staff does lord knows what, AD is apathetic at best, incompetent at worst, and the clown of a president is more focused on handing out cookies on campus than anything else. This program needs to be wiped clean from top to bottom. Rick Majerus is rolling over in his grave. Hope to see y’all this May, but more realistically will see y’all spring 2025.
  19. Twice tonight we have been denied a sub at the end of a timeout because they didn’t check in soon enough… first time Gibson, this time Ezewiro. That’s CYC level crap. What the hell is this staff doing??
  20. Well Dalger leaving opened 24 minutes per game… which have so far been given to the players that have us in this predicament. we are getting annihilated by a team of Stef Van Bussels. It’s a disgrace.
  21. Announce Ford has left the program for “personal family reasons” now
  22. I refuse to believe Curcic is worse than what we have out there.
