  1. I think this is really going to happen. Going to the league that kicked SLU out. Of course that was predicated in large part by football. I think this is great news for the whole state and SLU should take our spot in the Valley. Schools like Creighton, Drake, and SLU would have a lot in common and geography would be on their side too.
  2. Yeah, it won't work for me. No worries though, people should know by now who I am.
  3. Wow you sound like a Mizzou fan. "We're too good for you etc..." If you could beat us and we ducked you then you might have something. As is, we'd consistently get better games if we played an annual home and home with Lindenwood.
  4. Man, what is it with the SLU excuses? We beat you this year, we won there last year and took over your student section. Still with the excuses. I'm sorry about the indescetions of your players this year, but if they were playing and we beat you it would be something else like Remekun was bummed because he failed a test or something. It just gets old but I think adequately explains why SLU is in the place they currently are.
  5. I see your points, I was thinking more on a regional level. I'm not terribly familiar with how things work and SLU and with Father Biondi and what not. Getting back on the Missouri State topic, I think we are in the field of 68. I honestly think that we will be the only team in this state to dance. Everything has gone well so far with the CAA, Horizon, etc. I see MSU in the field. And I know there is a lot of unfounded hate for the Bears here but that's just how I see it.
  6. Clock Tower, you bring up good points. I think athletically you have stronger similarities to say La Salle and the Bonnies, but academically you have more in common with UNI and Wichita State. So the Valley may not be the perfect fit, but still a better one than the A10.
  7. In terms of the A10 vs. the Valley, I think the A10 is probably a bit better this year but it is close most years. Xavier and occasionally Temple carry the banner for your league and Temple always chokes in the tournament so I'm not sure that they matter. Look at it like this, in the last decade which league has left a bigger impact in March? You have the unforgettable images of UNI last year, Missouri State in 99, several teams in 2006 including Bradley topping a terrrific Kansas team, and so forth. All I can think of for the A10 is Xavier playing Ohio State tough the year that Oden was there. Not very memorable. Our league champ almost always plays well above their seed, the A10 teams while seeded higher, rarely accomplish much IMO.
  8. You are completely right about one issue and completely wrong about another. First off, Cuonzo ain't leaving us anytime soon. I don't know if I would go as far as to say that Missouri State is a destination job, but from what I have heard the only job he would realistically leave for would be Purdue and Painter seems pretty secure there. Cuonzo is going to be at MSU longer than either Anderson at MU or Majerus at SLU. Secondly you are completely right about you all belonging in the MVC. This is where you need to be...as long as our league office will let you in that is. This charade that you have a higher mission that means that you need to travel to Olean, NY every year is absurd. Your snobbery has been noted throughout the Valley though so if conference armaggedon happens you might have to beg a little to Doug Elgin to get in. But ultimately that is the best fit. You can't realistically think you can compete in the A10 but in time you would be competitive in the Valley I believe. Possibly you could eventually turn out similar to Wichita State or Creighton. How am I the only one that sees this? Do you want to be like Creighton or do you want to be like La Salle? No brainer to this Valley fan.
  9. I don't think there is any need to feel threatened by women. They deserve fair coverage as well, the "they are girls" line is clearly the thought of a dinosaur out of touch with modern society. Also heck yeah it is comparable to UCLA. The parity in the men's game of the 70s is roughly the same as the women's game of today. So congrats UCONN. Frankly more people should be paying attention to this, it is the biggest story in the sport of basketball this year.
  10. Went to Mizzou then transferred. It was William Fontleroy that you are referring to by the way. THE Missouri State is tacky and no real Bears fan wants to sound like a stuffy Buckeye fan.
  11. Way to make up things, SLU baseball did not make the College World Series in 2006. They made an NCAA Regional (as they did this year) and went 0-2 in Malibu (as they did this year). Also MSU made two other NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament appearances this decade. MSU volleyball made the NCAA Tournament in 2005, 2010, and I believe one or two additional trips this decade. Maybe not relevent to many, but if you are going to create a scoreboard you should at least try to keep an accurate tally.
  12. That's sad. Sweet Sixteen in 1999. Final Four in women's bball in 2001. CWS appearance in baseball in 2003. All pretty impressive. If you can't see that, then it is pointless to reason with you. And the one dude was bragging about Dayton winning the NIT. That's irrelevent. No one pays attention to that on a national level.
  13. Your coach should take that advice. Whining about it last night. "Wah, wah. They won't play us." St. Louis is irrelevent for MSU in terms of exposure. The Valley Tournament helps us enough. With SIU listing, this is the ONE game every year where SLU can gain regional credibility and that is why Majerus is upset. He knows that no one cares when SLU beats Saint Bonaventure or Fordham, but people surely care when about MSU. We have name recognition and no one in the A10 has that with the possible exception of Xavier or Temple.
  14. I am a Bears fan. Not sure I represent MSU though. I would hope that people would not attribute my comments to be indicative of our school as a whole. And I used to go to MU. Would love to change the handle to at least MizWhoMike.
  15. It isn't a bluff. We don't fear Kwamain and Willie. And what is the all time series now? 17-7 in favor of the good guys? Mighty big words for a program that seems to be perpetually waiting for next year. Kind of like the Cubs, no? The rich white girl is your Bartman. Best of luck though, I love playing instate teams. Really brings out the passion. Now if we could only get SEMO, UMKC, and Missouri to go along. Hopefully we can resume our series soon.
  16. Heck of a game tonight. SLU put up a better fight than I figured they would. Jordair Jett is something else, really nice find. Also really impressed watching Cassity all year, he is a tough kid. I don't know how you all will finish in the A10 but if Kwamain and Willie apologize, then you could probably finish pretty high. The A10 seems down this year so perhaps with good fortune you could do well and surpass last year's fantastic season.
  17. Top 100 accoeding to what? US News? Father Biondi's imagination?
  18. The Valley should be the goal. If we could get you and Butler we would really have something. Our conference tourney is better than the A10 and St. Louis is the hub of the league. It would do wonders for sports like softball and baseball too.
  19. I got overly emotional again, did not mean to disparage SLU as badly as I did. I just don't get the Bay Area fellow.
  20. We are keenly aware in Springfield about the SLU hype and how you all never live up to it. Last year was supposed to be the year and then Ellis didn't get there in time. This year you have two guys out (who may NEVER come back--who knows?) but sure everyone is trembling about SLU in Springfield. If you look at the series historically, it is rather one sided with the good old boys from the 417 in charge. No reason to suspect that that will change. The more I read here, the more I realize how much fun it is going to see all of the despair after you get smashed. But a lot of A10 teams are going to do that so embrace the mediocrity my friends.
  21. Majerus also had a handshake deal to coach at USC so I think you can understand our hesitance to accept him at face value. Also we have no control in terms of the Bracket Busters and MWC/Valley Challenge. The fact that both are away is beyond our control. I don't see how this game is more important to Missouri State than to SLU. With as much as Majerus is whining about it, it is fairly obvious that he values the series a great deal. Contrast this with Cuonzo.
  22. Yesterday I was rather upset with some of the things that were said here. I am far from perfect so I did retaliate which shows poor judgment on my part. I'll own up to that. I should not have said some of the things that I did. And I regret that but at the same time clearly I was provoked.
  23. Friend, I respect your opinions but your Big 12-2 predictions are horrendous. Texas is way too high as is Texas Aggie. OSU is much better than ISU and Nebraska and probably Texas in fact. Our schedule is pretty good. I find the Arky State comment laughable when you all always schedule at least one D2 team every year. Rockhurst, really? And if you read the Post-Dispatch, it is Cuonzo's intention to get SLU back on the schedule as soon as possible. We wouldn't run from a mediocrity. Aren't you all always improving though? Every year is supposed to be THE year. I don't think what you are saying holds water, but that is just me. Furthermore, we own this series all time, why would we run?
  24. I won't attack you friend, I will simply put in my two cents. The whole Duke spiel was just that...nothing but an attempt to get a rise out of you all. It shouuldn't take a SLU diploma on your wall or membership in elite social groups, country clubs, etc to see that. I would say that SLU is comparable to Tulsa, except Wojcik is no Majerus. We were playing that game two days after Tenn and it was the third game in four days. We had no energy and come out completely flat. Oklahoma State, or Okie Lite as it is known informally, will finish better than 9th in the Big 12-2. They've been a tournament team the last two years and defeated A10 media darling La Salle at the Palestra earlier this year. As for Tenn, they lost two questionable games this week. But they have two great wins over Pitt and Villanova. Kind of hard to figure out where they are right now, but to simply point out their two losses and ignore the rest of their body of work is somewhat ignorant. I also would say that Oakland is a superb team. They would finish in the top third of the Valley or even A10 for that matter. No shame in losing that one. We have had adversity on our team. Adversity is not limited to a school that chooses to punish lower income students for having the audacity to sleep with elitist white girls. We handle adversity without fanfare. There is no Majerus up at the podium whining about Missouri St, Mizzou, SIUC, referees, Father Biondi, commercal flights, etc. Furthermore, I realize that it is my background (lower middle class from rural area, public school) that has caused so much scorn as much as being an MSU fan and tweaking you all a little bit. As this holiday approaches maybe we should all look in the mirror and try to be more accepting of those from different backgrounds. Just because daddy doesn't make high six figures and can't send me to Chaminade or Horton Watkins does not mean that I cannot have opinions. And be right about many of them. Good day gentlemen (and ladies--I am about inclusion)and I wish you all well. Enjoy the game!
  25. Come on Cincinnat-uh guy, I did not say that. I said that we are similar in certain ways, not that we are equals.
