  1. Yes it has, but it is an injustice. I do not know, but I would be curious to find out how many MU grads work in the SL Post Sports dept compared to SLU grads over the years.
  2. Purely speculation on your part. Not identical situations, either. I have monitered the ridiculous bias of the Post Dispatch for MU basketball over SLU for over 30 years. Have you monitored those other cities for 30 years? Do you compare MU to Ohio State, Texas, etc?
  3. SLU got hosed again, MU on front page with color picture, SLU on page three. Been like that forever, not just the day we beat RI when they wrote about the forthcoming MU-KU game on the cover. That was a huge insult, worse than today. Don't forget article # 4 from Burwell (also on cover) praising Anderson for the way he handled the bar fight suspensions. No legitimate reason except favoritism, MU politics. Which writers-editors-etc went to MU journalism school? This is St. Louis, not Columbia, but MU gets top billing every time.
  4. The issue is "consistency". Since they are capable of playing well as demonstrated by some very good game outcomes, their blow out losses indicate that there is a coaching weakness, not jut talent gap. You have to hold RM accountable to some extent. At least BS was consistent with his results and therefore we can conclude that he was getting the most from his talent. Not that simple, but the blow out losses this year tell me he either pushes them too far game plan wise and / or the players give up on his game plans, he does not sell the plan successfully to them.
  5. I wonder if Burwell will write aritcle # 4 on how great Anderson handled all this... what a relief, nothing today.
  6. WHY do you hate Duke? Really, or in a good natured way? You wrote the other day something like "being a Duke fan says a lot about a person" in a derogatory way. WHY?
  7. The second thing that really makes it all very questionale is the conspiracy of silence. Hannah says he cannot say anything about anything--he knows nothing! And dozens of other people at the club know nothing--that is so ridiculous I cannot believe that anyone would think it credible. The witnesses would not tell the police anything. Something smells! "Conspiracy of silence"? Not a valid point these days. It is about the law. Remember the Duke Rape Case, the press, liberals, etc. all accused the players of "code of silence". It was inappropriate to say in such a pending-legal situation and turned out to be totally false to boot. Who in the world is going to talk publicly about an incident these days with all the idiotic press people and of course bloodthirsty lawyers out there! And do not by the police, they cannot tell you, either, what is going on until it goes to court. Having said that, I firmly believe that Mizzou has, for many years, been able to bring in kids with borderline character issues that they can hide with low end curriculum that SLU could not risk taking. (Mizzou is as good or better a school overall but has cake classes for jocks that SLU does not).
  8. You overrate RM big time; too emotionally involved. Pujols is 10 times RM. Add to previous list Herzog, Gibson, Garagiola, Spinks, Spinks, Warner, Faulk, Hernandez, many, many more. Majerus came in 2nd one time and is colorful slob. Wow. Glad we have him but...
  9. Worst thing, to me, is that he supports Hillary.
  10. What a debacle. I took "World Religions". One of the basketball players, (at the time), a starter, asked Father, re: reincarnation prioritiztion, "what would be lower, a rock or a spider?"
  11. I like how he always pump fakes, open by 10 feet.
  12. Yes, but was a front page headline 2 inch high letters. When we usually win or lose, it was page 7.
  13. No. If MU beats KU, then the Sunday Post sports front page should feature huge Billiken article on their contest vs. Temple. MU victory should be on page 3.
  14. Double standards? The issue is that some MU shills at the Post managed to put MU on the front page to highlight a GAME THEY PLAY TOMORROW while a strong SLU victory LAST NIGHT was on page 3. Bad loss vs GW was the only time (or one of the very few times) we made front page , Post and Timmermen (who I am not so fond of, I think he writes very cynically about SLU, but some of you guys seem to think he is OK) put 2" high headlines "SLU...Futility". Explain the logic and fairness there, please, Sir Hoophead.
  15. We beat a ranked team and MU is on front page of sports re: a game they play tomorrow! And they just lost to Iowa State. SLU victory is on page 3 (actually, closer to front than usual). We lose to GW and we are headline of front page of sports large letters "... SLU... Futility...etc". Thanks, Timmerman.
  16. Missed the point again, Big East? Brilliant response, hey at least people would have heard of GT, Syracuse, etc. But still not regional rivalries, etc. etc. We all know best would be for DePaul-ND-Xavier-Memphis type of new league in Midwest with big names, but A-10 is one of worst options, not regional and not recognized teams, etc, etc, etc. Apologize for crack about father's business, I assumed you went to DesMet or SLUH or something.
  17. You miss the point completely. Your same argument would then apply to Big 12, I guess Billikens should not get into Big 12 with Columbia, Lawrence, Ames, Omaha. Have you ever been on a road trip for a varsity NCAA sport for a conference game? I'll bet not. Regional rivalries are best. The thing is fans can drive to these places, MVC or Big 2, fans and players identify with the other team because they sometimes have local kids that play for them. SLU kids would have family drive up to see them... won't happen with trips to Philly, etc. It is "in and out", no sight seeing. So for the players it is better to pop over to Peoria for Bradley than sit in airports going to RI, etc. Less school time missed. Hostile eastern refs who think SL is a cow town. Have you ever been in the east or does your Dad's business keep you in SL?
  18. Again, SLU in the A-10 is a joke. Yes, A-10 is as good or even better than MVC, but who cares about RI, etc? None of their players are from our area, etc, etc, etc.
  19. Should have gone for 2 after the TD..
  20. Way too early, but so what if A-10 is slightly higher rated than MVC. But that is not the issue. Issues are geography, local recruits do not identify with Duquesne, St. Bonnie, et al, local recruit's families cannot travel to RI, Philly, etc, hostile eastern ref's hate SLU coming into their buildings, no natural rivalries, travel expense, missing extra classes, etc, etc, not who is slightly higher ranked "this" year or "that" year. Get out of A-10, asap!
  21. Any idea how much Ian and the other guys from SLU on this page make???
  22. Cannot just throw out teams as you wish... most learned SLU fans know joining A-10 was a very bad decision. Mid major conference, much too far away, no rivalries, referees not friendly to invading cow-town team, extra travel costs, extra class time missed, tough to recruit local kids when family needs to travel 1000 miles to see games, etc, etc, etc...
