  1. "In Chaifetz Arena, our best 2,700 seats (27% of the Arena) will require a per seat gift". - SLU According to my color coded chart, the only seats not requiring a donation are those beyond the baseline. The Billiken Gold and Red take you from the 5th row all the way to the top. So other then suites and party rooms, yes way more then half are behind the basket CAG
  2. St. Louis Rams only got 3 years from Dick Vermeil. Looking back I don't see a downside to that. I'll take Majerus if he were only here for 2. CAG
  3. Anybody know when this is? Is it open to the public? I understand it's not going to be a full go practice with everyone at once but would it be worth going to? CAG
  4. Majerus is not in St. Louis. He's in Milwaukee They are getting closer SLU is in negotiations with a downtown hotel regarding long term living arrangements. Sounds like they're still working some things out. CAG
  5. If there was a press conference scheduled for noon or 1pm I would think that SLU would put it out to all the evening/late news stations to inform people that there's a press conference scheduled. If we don't hear anything this evening from local news stations then I would doubt there's a press conference tomorrow early afternoon. I can't see SLU having a press conference to name the hiring of Majerus to lead us into the new arena and not make a big deal of it. That would make no sense. This should be as big as the ground-breaking was in my mind. The second logical option would be for SLU to announce in the morning that there's a press conference for later on Wednesday afternoon and have things at 4 or 5pm. If things continue to drag on past tomorrow then I'm guessing that lessens the chances that Majerus is the man for the job CAG
  6. I didn't see anyone else post in regards to Slayton's interview with Frank so I'll fill you in. Cusumano was on with Slayton around 5:40 tonight with the most up to date information I've heard. I listened to channel 5's 6:00 newscast and Renee did comment on the situation but Frank went into further detail with Slayton. Frank said things are close. He feels a deal will get done soon. Both SLU and Majerus have sent lists back and forth in regards to what each other want from this deal. Frank mentioned the financial aspect nor assistant coaches are an issue. Magerus's 3 top items on his list are as follows... 1)Better travel arrangements (chartered flights) 2)More academic advisor's for student athletes. I would think this could be done pretty easily. 3)More strength coaches for student athletes. Apparently SLU has 1 strength coach for all the student athletes. I didn't know that but it's pretty pathetic. I don't think any of these requests are "off the wall". As a matter of fact, the most difficult details seem to be worked out. If this is all true, I'd think we should hear something by late tonight or tomorrow morning. CAG
  7. Actually an employer can place a REBA on an insurance policy creating a vesting schedule on a policy. A REBA stands for Restricted Endorsement Bonus Arrangement. It gives the employer "golden handcuffs" over their employee. CAG
  8. McGraw Milhaven reported on their show about 20 minutes ago that Majerus is on Campus today. I have no idea to the validity of this. Maybe some students can fill us in. If he is there I would assume he'd walk through the campus and down to the stadium site. Should stick out like a sore thumb. CAG
  9. Why do you have to try the hardest when according to the kool-aid drinkers he's best friends with Kramer so he's a shoe-in to come to SLU. I thought Brad's already got this one locked up. CAG
  10. Billikan, if you feel Brad, Grunk & Angres are an acceptable group of D1 coaching talent and you feel that they have done an acceptable job, then you are not a true Billikens fan. Either that or your related to one of them. CAG
  11. They are ahead of schedule. They will have it ready for commencement in 2008. No basketball no matter what until 2008-2009. CAG
  12. from vcu.edu . . . 4-18-06 Virginia Commonwealth University named Anthony Grant its new men's basketball coach on Tuesday, making him the ninth coach in the program's history. Grant, a native of Miami, Florida, recently finished his 10th year at the University of Florida and his 12th year overall as a top assistant under veteran coach Billy Donovan, more than a decade of work culminating in the Gator’s first national title in basketball. Again, why can't we hire a top assistant? VCU did it and it leads them to 28 wins and a first round "historic" victory over Duke. Please don't come at me and say he wouldn't have done it in the powerful A10. CAG
  13. Did you see VCU knock off DUKE. That was a great finish. I believe this was the first year for VCU's coach. Great start to go 28-6 with a first round W over all mighty DUKE in the NCAA Tourney. How was that type of a season even possible with a first year coach? Most of you deemed it impossible. OHHHH wait, I know. I bet he has a huge recruiting budget and that their administration really loves basketball. CAG
  14. My first chance to see him. That guy was unbelievable last night. I think he had 38 pts on 12-14 shooting and 14 boards. He was all over the place on the offensive and defensive end. Made a great NBA three at the end of the first half. The way he went up and got boards reminded me of Tommie. He was aggressive and a quick leaper. No way McCluer North doesn't win state next year. Chris Lowery and SIU fans have to be ecstatic that they got to this guy before SLU, MU & IL had a chance. SLU missed out big time. Booker was impressive as well. I saw him step out and hit a three. We could use him as well. Wait a second, we could use any 6'8" guy right now. CAG
  15. GW opened with... Boston University (210) Dartmouth (255) Longwood - never even heard of them (307) Keenesaw St. (277) Maryland E. Shore (332) MD Baltimore County (214) I would have guessed 3 of those weren't D1. Come on now they didn't just schedule some that "turned out to be weak". That is pathetic scheduling. I would have bet you a million bucks all those teams would suck or "flop". I'm surprised MD Baltimore County was 214. Not too shabby. UMASS had... Dartmouth (255) St. Francis NY (281) Jacksonville St (315) Savannah St. (289) Boston University (210) Luckily they added these power teams above 200 Central Connecticut (147) Yale (142) Northeastern (183) Oakland(125) This is actually pretty comical. I didn't even think it was this bad. CAG
  16. I agree. I didn't post this in regards to last night's game. I stated that in my post. This is something I've always thought about but never ended up posting. Just wondering if others have pondered why we tend to save time outs. CAG
  17. After getting smoked like we did last night, there is no way we're going to the NIT. Rhode Island or GW (whoever loses) is getting in along with UMASS. That's it from the kick ass A10 CAG
  18. Why doesn't Brad use his timeouts? He seems to go into halftime with 3+ timeouts a lot. I know there's been a few times this year at Scotttrade where we've gone into halftime with all 5 left. I think we had 4 left vs UNC and never used one when UNC went on that run to close out the first half. I don't get this. Especially when we have these 5 minute droughts during games. I'm not talking about last night, I think we had a 16 minute drought there and actually used a few time outs. Sometimes we'll have numerous turnovers or will get trapped and we still won't call a timeout. I don't expect him to call a time out and draw up a play b/c I've never seen Brad draw anything up offensively. However, maybe he could call one just to settle his guys down or use it to regroup. Am I missing something. Do you get anything for keeping your time outs? Again, I'm not saying time outs would have helped last night. This is more just a concern I have with Brad's in game coaching. CAG
  19. Roy. I hope you were agreeing with me. Yes, the MVC figured it out. SLU is very close. I don't think we had a 200+ team out of conference. The rest of the A10 has not figured it out. satrap. do you get it yet? CAG
  20. You don't agree with this: "Their 60-40 loss was a debacle on every level. It was a bad game in a bad league with bad officials in a bad venue in front of a bad crowd. It was a stinkfest all around." The officials sucked last night. That's not why we lost but we got hacked. I thought the crowd sucked. Maybe I'm blind, did they pack it in? The venue blew! It was built in 1929 for Christ's sake. And believe it or not the A10 is a bad conference. CAG
  21. Wrong. Look at the stats. TA DA. UMASS played 10 teams out of the top 200 and only 4 of them were A10 teams. Yes it's not hard to figure out but the MVC teams don't have crap schedules like this. Had UMASS at least scheduled a few of those teams in the top 200 and still won their rpi in turn would have been better and we'd be talking about them on the bubble. Apparently the majority of the A10 teams have not figured out that it does nothing for you to schedule teams out of the top 200. That's why we dropped teams like Savanna St. That's why SLU chose Quincy b/c they couldn't find a team in the top 200 to schedule another game that late. CAG
  22. The MVC figured it out. We need a new A10 commish that stresses figuring out the RPI. Brad tried but did not figure it out. He picked Pacific b/c they had 20 wins the previous season. He somehow failed to see that they lost 3 seniors from that 20 win season. Loyola was an ok game to schedule. At least that game made sense to travel to. Houston twice was perplexing. Quincy made no sense whatsoever. If you're going to lose 2 games to 200+ rpi teams it doesn't matter who you schedule. CAG
  23. About the Billikens: They freaked out when George Washington jumped them in Atlantic City. Watching this game reminded us why former Temple coach John Chaney kept a hulking football player on his bench. On nights when the Atlantic 10 officials took a powder -– like Friday night, for instance -– he would put his tough guy into the game to create some room for his teammates. The Billikens needed such a player Friday night. GW swarmed them, trapped them, fouled them on almost every touch of the ball . . . and SLU could not fight through it. Their 60-40 loss was a debacle on every level. It was a bad game in a bad league with bad officials in a bad venue in front of a bad crowd. It was a stinkfest all around. -I agree with JG CAG
  24. 20 wins in 33 games only if you count a victory against a NON D1 team. So that's a 19-13 record in my mind. CAG
  25. Please don't bring up resources and budget again. We moved to the A10 b/c our budget's in line with the teams in that conference. Cheryl just stated that last week again. The MVC teams aren't out there throwing tons of money at everyone. We didn't get TL, KL, IV b/c of a great budget those recruiting years. I'm not happy with Brad b/c his judgment of the "roll players" has been awful. I'm also not happy with his in game coaching. I'm not happy that he "doesn't have answers". He's had 6 years, I feel it's time to move on. Now am I a troll b/c of that? I've had season tickets since I went to SLU and would bet I donate more to the billiken club then 99% of the posters on here. I post on here to voice my frustration. If you're not preaching that current conditions are a perfect utopia then you are a "troll" and hate the program. That's BS. I just have high standards and expect more. CAG
