  1. Texas Southern is still Division I. Murray did not have to sit out a year after transferring there because of the graduate transfer rule. Lord only knows how he was able to graduate. I guess Huggy Bear has to keep that APR rating up at WVU somehow. Embattled big man Aaric Murray picks Texas Southern Also for the record Texas Southern is in Houston, TX. SLU beat them back in December 2011 by a score of 71 - 39.
  2. I understand the frustration. That being said posting this on a message board does nothing. I hope you at least emailed your frustrations to KMOV. Also as you said this is typical & pretty much par for the course: KMOX website does not even have a "SLU" tab on their sports page only Cardinals, Rams, Blues, Mizzou. On the Post Dispatch (StlToday.com) Sports website, there is a SLU page that you can get to via the "Sports" tab. However, on the sports homepage, if you scroll down to where it lists stories by category, it lists "Columnists", "Cardinals", "Rams", "Blues", and "Mizzou". The "Mizzou" section used to just be titled "College" and has SLU, Illinois, and other college stories under it, but for some reason was recently changed to Mizzou.
  3. billslasttermdropout mentioned this in the ORU Media info thread, but I almost missed it, so I thought it deserved it's own thread. http://www.groupon.com/deals/gl-saint-louis-billikens-men-s-basketball-1 The slam-dunk is one of the most exhilarating plays in sports, along with the home run and whenever a horse kicks a field goal. Last year's success means high expectations for the Billikens, and they have met them so far in the 2013–2014 campaign. The team has trounced their first three opponents by an average margin of 20 points, scored 81.7 points per game, and, like a mediocre farmhand, hit nearly half of their attempted field goals. In front of a frenzied home crowd, the Billikens will look to continue their winning ways in showdowns with rivals the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and the Bowling Green Falcons. Saint Louis Billikens The city of Saint Louis may be known as the Gateway to the West, but for many of the nation's premier soccer players, it’s the final destination. That's because, with 10 NCAA Division I championships to their name, the Saint Louis Billikens have built a soccer tradition more lasting than a pair of cleats left to dry in wet cement. While men's soccer may be the Billikens' flagship program, they are a formidable force across a variety of sports, including men's basketball, a program that has made it to the NCAA Tournament eight times. 4. I can't imagine the games are sold out. These "tournaments" are TV events and the crowds are usually in the 100s of people.
  5. In all seriousness, didn't Majerus get sick last time the Billikens played in Mexico? I'm not that worried about the team getting sick. Obviously, they should use discretion, but it is not something to fret over.
  6. I'm ready to move on. What is the outlook for next year? The "only" seniors are Shackelford, Sweetin, Gabeljic, and Roeckle.
  7. I guess there is nothing better to do in Olean than stuff the ballot box. LOL. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/rank/_/listId/2706/versionId/1
  8. If you look at the way the schedule lays out, Wisconsin is on a Tuesday, then OD/WVU is Wednesday, and Wichita State is the following Sunday. The rankings are updated each Monday. Therefore, SLU will likely have to win all 3 of these games to be ranked on Monday December 2nd.
  9. Probably should have looked up info on Byrd. I had no idea he had been there that long. Also I had no idea Belmont was an NAIA team until 1996. Kudos to Belmont for sticking with Byrd after a rough few years after moving up to Div I. Hell of a coach indeed. That being said, never underestimate the power of money. If a big school comes calling with a boatload of cash, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Byrd left. Jim Larranaga had been at George Mason for 14 years and was 60 when he left for Miami.
  10. UNC - Belmont game was crazy. JJ Mann. Wow. Rick Byrd may be a coach to keep an eye on. Wouldn't surprise me if he moves up the ladder soon.
  11. 83 - 70 FINAL. ND's 1st home loss in November under Mike Brey (14 years).
  12. Disappointing. Indiana beat Michigan St. in the Big Ten title game as well so that takes away an at large from someone. SLU's chances of getting an at large are probably not very good.
  13. Another consideration here is that ND is ahead of SLU in the polls. I would assume they will drop out of the top 25 after this. Hopefully behind SLU as well.
  14. Sycamores up 75-63 now with about a minute and a half left. Very impressive. ND doesn't look very good.
  15. IN St. picking it pack up 57 - 47 with 10 mins to go.
  16. 46 - 45 Indiana State 14:20 left. ND has been pretty much dominating the 2nd half so far.
  17. The game is on ESPN 3 (online) for anyone interested in scouting out our future opponent. http://espn.go.com/watchespn/
  18. Indiana State is up 40 to 30 on #21 Notre Dame at the half. Would be good for Indiana State to win for SLU's SOS, but also makes me nervous for that game.
  19. I have no idea why they would allow Dayton to host knowing that Dayton's field is so bad and does not have adequate drainage systems. Seems like the A10 really dropped the ball.
  20. 0-0 at the half. Live stats and twitter feed make it difficult to tell which team played better. SLU had 4 shots to GM's 3. Best I can tell it was fairly even.
  21. 1. It did sound like SIU was getting some "home court" calls from the refs, but I wouldn't base too much off of Rammer's radio calls. In just about every game there is a "worst call he's ever seen" and he is very much like one of us would be calling the games (a complete homer). 2. Everyone has been playing zone on us. We should be able to figure it out by now and I think they have gotten better at it. This may account for the slow starts because every zone is a little different and it takes some time to find the weaknesses and expose them. 3. Defenses seem to be keyed in on Evans so far this year. Part of it is the zone defense, but teams are also double and triple teaming him when he gets it in the post. I think last year teams figured that if their guy had a few inches of height on Evans then he could defend him on his own in the post. Obviously teams have learned that despite being undersized Evans can make you pay down low. There were a couple of times that 4 guys crashed in on him in the SIUE game. Evans has done a decent job of passing from the post so far, but he should look to do it more often. Our shooters need to knock down shots to force team to play Evans one on one in the post. 4. There are "coachable moments" in every game. I'm sure Crews will use these to make the team better. 5. Eagleton didn't play that was a screw up by the ESPN stats. If you look at the official stats on SLU's website, he is not listed as having played. Which makes sense, Eagleton is a walk-on. Crawford isn't completely ready right now, but he's not Dustin Macguire.
  22. https://twitter.com/SLUMensSoccer SLU soccer twitter feed is giving decent updates on the game. Live stats: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=38188
  23. I find it interesting that with Manning out Crews went to Agbeko as the 8th man. Perhaps he just felt that RA was the better matchup against SIUC. SIUC was using their entire bench, but we didn't see Crawford or Lancona at all even though they had a little bit of seasoning against SEMO & SIUE whereas RA had none. I wonder if we can read into this that Agbeko will be the 9th man in the rotation which is how many Crews had he would like to have. Either way, I hope we can get a few more blowout games in where all of the freshman see minutes.
  24. I'll agree that the 1st half against SEMO was bad. I think with them being up by 20+ at the half against SIUE they short of coasted through the 2nd half. Not saying that is a good thing, but I would expect better in a close game. The guards were either being selfish or just wanting to kill clock by not feeding Glaze when he was posting up in the 2nd half. There were still a lot of fouls called in the 2nd half (especially against SIUE), but I think the refs tried to swallow their whistles a bit too especially on things away from the basket. Did anyone else think that their big foreigner #5 Fiorentinos set probably the most illegal picks you'd have ever seen? I think he was only called for 1 maybe 2, but almost every single one he set with his feet wider than his shoulders, leaned into the defender trying to get by him, sometimes threw his elbows up/out at the defender, and sometimes just grabbed the defender. It was pretty hilarious to watch. Most impressively, it usually didn't give SIUE much of an advantage because our guys still got by him.
