  1. I always liked Tyrone Corbin. Additionally, he may be one of the darkest men I've ever seen in my life.
  2. Glad to see the basketball players out there doing it, something I haven't seen before, but each team is supposedly required to do things like this. When we host things like the A-10 soccer tournaments or the upcoming volleyball tournament, typically those are student athletes of some variety working.
  3. Hate to ruin any optimism on the board about the girls' team, but they did not play well. I don't care who they were playing. They didn't box out, they missed 2 out of three point blank shots they took in the paint, they didn't play ANY semblance of interior defense, and they were called for traveling about five times. They played a really poor game. I've been watching them live for three years, and they've never played much defense, but WashU had way too many easy interior baskets. Hopefully if Amanda gets healthy soon that will be improved, but the defense wasn't poor because they were undersized, it was just poor.
  4. I'll be there...need to get my dime's worth out of the Chaifetz.
  5. Left at half, here's what I saw... KM - Very calm, looked like an upperclassmen, certainly not a freshman being asked to start at PG. Very excited. KL - Ouch. Bruised rear-end aside, he had to have smacked his head by the look on his face while he was laying on the ground. I'm surprised he's not concussed. Didn't look like a dirty play by HS though, just basketball. Rough fall, but sounds like he'll be alright. TL3 - On offense seemed completely disinterested in taking any shots, only trying to work the freshmen in. Played solid defense. Ready to see what he can do with them in a real game. BC - He's a hustler and a banger. BT - I hope he learns a lot this year, because if he does, he can be a great player in the future. A lot of upside, but a lot of work to be done. BE - Enjoyed dancing with the cheerleaders for most of the game. RC - Just shoot, Ruben. Looks like he'll have good dribble penetration, and the smooth jumper we expected. Not the best passer on the team. WR - Exactly what I was hoping to see. I really didn't want to see him redshirted. He's gonna have a rough go against the meatier bigs we play, but he's tall and athletic enough to get around that. If he can put on some major pounds in the next 18 months, he could be the most dominant player I've seen at SLU. KC - Looked really good, needs to get rid of the curls. PE - Glad to see him diving on the ground after loose balls. Hope that means the back is alright.
  6. it's the chaif before it's the fetz for sure...i've mostly only heard the chaif on campus.
  7. Additionally, Big River Running Company (in conjunction with the SLU Cross Country/Track & Field teams) will be hosting a really special event next Monday night to help support Brigette and her family. The cliff notes version is that a sub 4:00 outdoor mile has never happened in Missouri, and this Monday night at SLUH a field of Elite men will attempt to change that. Tickets at the gate are $5, and all proceeds go to the Schutzman family. Additionally t-shirts will be for sale for $15, and there will be a pasta dinner served by the team for $15 (purchase ticket in advance -- follow link for details) Here is a link with more info about the event: http://www.bigriverrunning.com/Schutzman%20Mile.htm Brigette's progress has been truly amazing, and she should be making the drive from Indianapolis to attend the event! Please come out and support Brigette, her teammates, and the SLU community. SLUH @ 6:30 (Men's Elite Race @ 7:45, Pasta Dinner @ 8:15) on Monday, the 28th.
  8. personally i flip to his article on the back inside cover before i read anything else in SI
  9. He also responded to questions about his health with the fact that he swims up to a mile, mile and a half on good days. Spent some time in the pool at the MAC. Sounds good to me. Oh, and he jokingly mentioned sumo wrestling Biondi. That would be a sight.
  10. It's a wonderful place. Can't wait to be back. Hopefully we have a basketball coach by that time...
  11. I will in about 2 weeks. Until then I'm in the shadow of the Arch
  12. haha. yea, well. SLU is the only one I've been following, and I've been on the site occasionally since the fall, just never had too much to say I guess. I've been doing my own looking into our RM situation, and I've been on the site a little bit more, adding my 2 cents here and there.
  13. Not directly, but I'm somewhat familiar with them, knowing a few kids there, and competing against them in my high school days.
  14. Indeed I was. Fenwick girls won state though I think, they're no chumps. The guys had a bit of a down year comparatively. They've got a couple of good kids though.
  15. >>Hopefully he is out recruiting a couple of talented Fenwick kids,(A.T.'s alma mater) one of which had a ncie weekend last weekend for the Illinois Wolves. I think that some of Fenwick's girls probably have a better shot at making SLU's team than the guys do.
