  1. He was trying to get in touch with RM. He is the thread were Nate Latsch a high school sports reporter in St. Louis reported speaking with him and his comments. http://www.billikens.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/12651.html#6
  2. This isn't like taking a chance on a 5'9" kid. Powell is a 6'7" stud who has the frame that should easily allow him to pack on muscle. He is the kind of player that use to always kill us in CUSA. If he has his grades together after a year at prep school you got to go after him. It sort of rough to call McKinney a bust on the court. He was never a superstar at MU, but that had more to do with the staff at MU than anything else.
  3. I think somebody from around the country my like the chance to become the next Andre Miller.
  4. If Leon Powell is ready to go after one year at prep school he would be the #2 on my list. My local only list without Powell and Roundtree (in order): 1. Suggs 2. Thompson 3. Brandenburg 4. Perry 5. John With Powell and Roundtree (in order): 1. Suggs 2. Powell 3. Thompson 4. Brandenburg 5. Roundtree
  5. The top pg prospect you desire will have to come from outside the area. This area's top point guard prospect will not be in play for SLU. If Roundtree is serious about his renewed interest in SLU, I would have replaced John with him.
  6. Brandenburg, Thompson, Suggs, Perry, and John. I say that not knowing anything the staff may have going on outside of the area. Loen Powell would be an awful nice addition coming out of prep school.
  7. About the rumblings that Torres Roundtree is reconsidering his verbal to SIU?
  8. I think he is the one player that has been extremely underated to this point out of the class of 2008. I think he has the chance to develop into a very fine player on the next level.
  9. V, he plays center in hs. That is what I am talking about. You referred to the top center in the class of 2008. He will probably move to the 3 or the 4 depending on what system he ends up in. If he ends up at SLU he will play the 4 or the 5. RM likes his big men to be able to hit from the outside. So for SLU he will be a prospect at the 5, he is listed at 6'11 after all. As for Brandenburg, I was down on him after this past high school season. But, all indications are that he has really picked up his game on the early AAU circuit. I guess you would like everyone on here to take your word that Harrellson is the better prospect than Brandenburg, when every talent evaluator and every coach in the country feels differently.
  10. I think he was there for a short time. I didn't remember him myself, but I for some reason remember Frank C having him on 590, when the Padres were in town one time, and they talked about his time at KSDK.
  11. I didn't like Bush doing sports, but you can't argue with the job he did hiring talent to work at KSDK. He also was the one person responsible for the original Sports Plus getting on the air and the large amount of people KSDK had covering multiple events of interest locally. Either you liked Malcom's way of doing sports or you didn't, but at least he knew what the hell he was talking about.
  12. They had the guy that is doing play by play for the Padres and has done games for ESPN and Fox. Sorry I can't remember his name now.
  13. But he sure knew how to do his job as sports directior. When he ran that sports department they hired top notch talent. Frank C., Matt Wiener, Malcom Briggs, and Trey Wingo. I might not have liked all of their personalities, but they all knew sports and knew how to do good interviews.

  15. Do we want to be in a conference with MSU, SIU-C, and WSU? At least in the A-10 when we play schools in the state university system we get the east coast exposure out of it. The people exposed to SLU by us playing MSU, SIU-C, and WSU already know about SLU. They also receive state funding for their athletic programs, which makes it harder for SLU to compete across the board in all athletics.
  16. DePaul and Marquette out of the mix. Unless the Big East blows up that is noy going to happen. I also think you have to consider non-catholic schools that have similar athletic goals and admission policies to get the number of teams needed and the overall quality to a desired level. I love the eight team conference set-up, but I think you might have to go to ten to make sure you can generate enough interest for TV.
  17. Start showing me the players Weber recruited and developed that have made it to the dance in the numbers RM did then we can talk. And just so you know Sheltie, there is a hell of a lot of players at KU who will be making the jump to the NBA over the next two years. Self is the one producing the Carolina/Duke numbers, Weber has been producing Brad like numbers.
  18. With the recent changes that have been made, we are all thinking to small. SLU has positioned itself to be a leader in a realignment process instead of a followerer or a program hoping to get asked to join. The best thing that could happen is the Big East having a blow-up between basketball and football. If that doesn't happen in a few years you look to form a new conference only of similar schools. It doesn't have to be a 14 team conference. All you need is 8-10 schools that are the right schools. If you would have some kind of combo of SLU, XU, Dayton, St Joes, Creighton, Loyola, Charlotte, Butler, GW, Fordham, Bradley, and a Detroit Mercy you have a league that would be perfect. You have a combination of teams that are proven winners, have large media makets, and/or located in hot beds of high school talent.
  19. Majerus's hiring has him intrested in SLU. Before this I thought SLU had zero chance with him. All reports I have heard is he is having a good AAU season so far.
  20. He is being brought in and paid a ton of money so we won't be taking chances on kids. If the expectation was we were going to take chances on kids next year we should have kept Brad. You do not take chances with kids we you are paying a coach $1 million plus and opening a $85 million plus building. You better get a good amount of the best players in the area and supplement that with good talent from around the country. It will be expected for us to help pay for everything with increased ticket prices and some kind of psl, it better be worth the damn money. The administration has upped the ante and we better up our expectations.
  21. V you are definitely stretching it a long way. Thompson and Brandenberg both are ahead of him.
  22. He may become a contributor. I am not sure about a two year starter. He doesn't have the skill set or the ability that IV has. He would have to give maximum effort every night and max out his ability. He has an upside no where near IV. I wouldn't take a four year risk on him if you think you can land better next year. I think that they will get much better talent next year than him.
