  1. I agree. I think they will get far more out of it in the short run, but cross-town rivalries are great. I think it will only help basketball in the area long-term.
  2. All of our rivalries seem to come and go. The exception being SIUC and to some extent MSU.
  3. Cheeseman, it is almost scary how much I have agreed with your recent posts.
  4. I think UMass has great potential. We aren't close to each other geography wise, buy we have had great games against each other. Every game we have played has been great going all the way back to when we played them at the then Kiel Center in the CUSA-A10 challenge in the 90's.
  5. You can even agree with Billikan and he we still go off on you for being negative. He called me a seer of evil last year when I was agreeing with him about some of Brad's situation. The guy is not very rational.
  6. Roy, I have defended Majerus and not taken shots at the players. Saying this roster isn't loaded with great talent is not taking shots at players. It is stating an obvious fact. This team has little margin for error due to that fact. I have said all along to wait till the conference season starts before you start judging this team and the job Majerus is doing.
  7. 1. Big results don't happen overnight. 2. I have a problem with some of the things he has said about players. It is the old school way and I don't expect it Rick to change on that. I am a bit perplexed why some of the positive comments mentioned by Nate don't get reported by the rest of the media and when they do many seem to ignore them. 3. Two all conference guards doesn't mean it is a talented roster, it means you have two talented guards. 4. Rickma has an ego and he is ecentric. I think he has taken blame for some of the problems, but a lot of people don't want to hear it. He said after the SHS game to blame him.
  8. I noticed that on ST, too. I think they are worse with the hand checking than even Cincy back in the Huggins day. It is in a lot of ways the same philosphy that Cincy played D with.
  9. I expect your personal bias to affect your opinion. I think it is foolish to not. Your first loyalty should be to TL and not the program. I would be the same if I was in your position.
  10. I never said the players were not maxing out or giving 100% effort. I think they have been. I don't think Rickma is infallible, but I do know his system is not easy to learn. It is hard for even the most talented players and it is even harder when nobody on the roster has any previous exposure to it. JaleJarr don't tone it down. This place would be as boring as hell if we all agreed.
  11. If this season turns around and we finish strong, remember it was Rick changing that led to it. It won't be the fact that players became comfortable in his system. At least that will be the take of some on here.
  12. Goodman wasn't a fan of the Majerus hiring when it happaned. I am not suprised he still isn't.
  13. I think Jimbo probably was a little sauced.
  14. Wow they had a week to practice and they added stuff to the offense.........imagine that. I have never heard of a coach doing that. You think they might add more before the Loyola game?
  15. For at least ten minutes in the first half, the half was listed as the second half on the scoreboard.
  16. I guess you have missed Billikan's, Buaman's, JaleJarr's, and Tdell's post over the past month. There have been others, too.
  17. Yes he does or he needs to wear a t-shirt underneath.
  18. David you are correct, but I don't expect a lot of people to change thier way of thought right now. People have now invested themselves in bashing Rickma. It will take more than tonight to change thier opinions.
  19. Wrong, he is a fan of it and his system calls for it at specific times. Andre Miller sure got away with a lot of penetration during his time at Utah if it wasn't allowed. The key is knowing when to do it.
  20. Was it the fact that Majerus started to allow them to play or was it that they started to realize what they were supposed to do in the offense and started hitting shots? I think it was a combination of the both. The offense I saw didn't look all that different from what I saw at Utah and what I have seen on the Majerus coaching DVDs. The one thing I do not expect to see again today is the press that we employed at the end. We just don't have enough horses to do that the far long stretches.
  21. Nash, I agree with you. That is what I took away from the article.
