  1. Someone mentioned something about graduation coming up this week and that would indicate the end of the school year. Does anyone know if all of our guys are in good academic standing heading into the Majerus era? I heard Luke Meyer has been cutting it kind of close these past couple semesters and may have some issues.
  2. Exactly, what is there not be impressed with when it comes to Majerus. A lot of these AAU coaches have such a false sense of significance and superiority. The woman said that her husband and the other coaches were very upset that he was so late without calling them and that when he finally got there he did not deliver much of anything for them to be excited about. Like I said, take is for what it is worth. P Diddy appears to have a better handle on things and he said the coaches were aware that there was a recruit on campus and most of them were not in the least bit upset about him being a little late.
  3. Well it sounds like p diddy kind of downplayed the situation from what I was told, so I would not look into it too much. The woman I talked to may have exaggerated the story a little bit and made it sound like all of the coaches were not real happy with Majerus. I do agree that it is frustrating that these Eagle's guys think they are so big time and need to be constantly massaged by the staff of SLU or they start bitching and moaning.
  4. I took it all with a grain of salt, but thought it was at least worth posting. The story I heard was from the wife of one of the coaches who came away unimpressed. It seems like a lot of these AAU coaches are very high maintenance and constantly need their egos inflated. I am extremely happy with the hiring of Majerus and I have to believe any talented player in the area would be as well. I think your story is more accurate p diddy.
  5. I heard some disturbing things concerning Rick's meeting with the coaches from the St. Louis Eagle's. Apparently Rick showed up 45 minutes late due to showing a player from Gateway around campus. Rick did not bother to call the coaches to say he was running a little late or anything of that nature. The coaches were not real happy with this and when he finally arrived they were unimpressed with what they heard. Take is for what its worth, just found this very interesting. Looks like Rick may have dug himself a bit of a hole with the local AAU coaches.
  6. Biondi plays the part when he needs to but always has a side agenda. my mom went up and talked to him at a SLU game and he was nice to her and said he would look after mom. He knows how to play the part of a president who cares about the university but also knows how to squeeze money out of people. He will only talk to students if he has too or if there are big donors with him. He has done a lot of SLU but isn't the god people say he is.
  7. Yeah Skip, you know what goes on in the Athletic Department so you obviously know what is true and what isn't why other who do know point out to truth and you rip them apart. I know what happened and the post before me was also dead on, I have heard things from credible sources and know what the truth is. Maybe you should open you eyes and realize that SLU isn't 30-0 every year and that the coaches aren't perfect people as you claim they are. No one said that Sloan stole the money, but he did in fact lose it. The person in charge of the athletic department finance point blank told my friend that he lost it. There is no crime in pointing out the flaws of the program and i'm sure Sloan would laugh if you sent my post to him since it is the truth.
  8. Sloan did several times forget to get busses for the players and were forced to sit at the airport. He is a very nice guy and is very friendly, but he has no business skills and doesn't know how to plan and work. Very often the DBO job requires you to work without much of a heads up and Sloan couldn't deal with it. The new job sounds like CL will hold his hand and walk him down the halls of West pine. Sloan just wasn't use to having to work or do anything on his own since the players have everything done for them except having someone go to class for them. It's good to see that Sloan is making the best of his free SLU education and isn't just living off of his last name......
  9. Brad's Era is still up in the air for me. Four years and about a .500 record. A break down of the years: two NIT trips which I don't give him full credit for since they were basically Romar's guys, one horrible season, and a very promising season gone to waste last year. Much of the credit for last years record I will give to the A-10 not being anywhere close to C-USA status. Brad needs the NCAA or a run in the NIT this year to prove something to me. He needs to show that he can win with his guys. If we choke at the end of this year like we did last year, I will be very sad. Being 16-10 with a chance to do something then ending at 16-13 with no NIT or NCAA was a killer. We got the players this years for a great season and I think we atleast got an NIT bid. If we don't get anyone in next year's class but Kramer, then we will be in trouble and will show that getting Tommie and Kevin was an exception, not the norm. I think we are building something nice, but with Ian gone and no center to replace him and no sure chance of landing any of the STL kids but Kramer, I'm going to wait to judge his Era. We've invested probably a million bucks into this guy so we better get something.
  10. Good to see Shimmy turning the program around. Great hire by the AD. Now, we need to do something about some of the other sports. The Ad has done a great job at hiring a go getter and hard worker.
  11. UNCA said "He has nice hand eye coordination and changes what happens in the paint" about Bryce. Having watched Bryce numerous times throughout the years, I feel this is a horrible lie. Bryce has very bad coordination and a bad set of hands to match. Anyone can slap the ball out of his hands or steal it from him. Bryce is tall but often misses most blocks and is even more often slow to react. If he does react, he often leaves someone open due to his lack of agility. UNCA assessment about Bryce making a play then being out of position is dead on though. Bryce often will make a good play but will give up an easy bucket by being out of possition or not having the agility to get back to his spot. Bryce will be a decent center but we need someone with better rebounding and more agility to go down there. We can't count on Bryce to hold on to rebounds and the run back down the court without being beat.
  12. When FromGreeceWithLove talks and says he has credible information, it's because he does. FromGreeceWithLove knows people inside the athletic department and outside students who know the players. His street cred is as high as you can find on this board. His word and a few others are the only ones I consider to be true. About the ***** thing, I think it is a good description of Obi at times. I guess it was wrong to use that word but it sums him up pretty well. I guess FromGreeceWithLove should remember that several CEO's of Fortune 500 companies read this board daily and would be scared to offer him a job because he didn't use work language on the board. Quit breezing Greece,
  13. 1. I'm going to go with Luke. If he plays good minutes and gets his shots to drop, he could score 8 a game. 2. Suggs 3. UNC, we play ranked teams well at home. 4. Drew Deiner. We needed a shooter last year, he would have been it and could be this year. 5. I'll say yes to Lindsay.
  14. Who cares, it's women's basketball. I have been to around 10 women's games a year for the past few years and let me tell you it sucks. SLU is not very good and none of the A-10 schools are very good. There were a few ranked last year, but a ranked women's team is about as good as Harris Stowe. Shimmy might be a good coach, but women's basketball is girls running around looking for that killer layup to send the 30 fans into a frenzy. My favorite moment was when the team rushed the court on senior night after a win and then singing the school fight song as they jumped up and down with the 10 Blue Crew members at the game. All this was to cap off a 7-20 season and 4-12 A-10 record. Another fun fact, SLU has lost to UM Rolla and UMSL to past two years. We are the joke of Missouri women's basketball.
  15. The NIT is nothing compared to what the NCAA Tourney but it still means something to the players and coaches. I would much rather make the NIT then not make anything at all. With 8 less teams, that gives SLU less of a chance to make it next year. I hope NCAA, but if we don't make that, we now have less spots to hope for. The win total for the NIT will probably be around 18. I want NCAA, but this could hurt us.
  16. I didn't think it happened as often as it did. We had a lot of games agaisnt UMSL back then. Maybe is we played UMSL twice again Slaten would talk about us more or maybe give us credit for the win. Still don't know how Rammer hasn't killed Slaten yet. I'm with Pistol, we should take a trip down to Houston and watch the Bills, we can put the bill on Billikenmetz' credit card.
  17. It looks like SLU is playing Houston twice. I guess both schools had a game to fill and it worked out. I don't ever remember playing a non conference school twice in a year. Hopefully Houston is down this year so we can get a couple of wins out of the deal. I also heard we wanted to get Harris Stowe on the schedule twice, but Sodie said he was scared of VTIME and his coaching ability so we went with Houston instead. It will be nice for Obi and Danny to get to play a game infront of their friends and family. After switching conferences, Danny's family must have had a hard time getting to games last year with none being closer then St. Louis.
  18. I'm actually best friends with the Ameren CEO, Gary Rainwater. I called him up a few days ago and told him to make sure that VTIME and all people of African descent had no power until this Thursday. I guess I have been found out. Maybe Floyd Irons or D. Johnson can back me and protest something.
  19. Everytime he opens his mouth he makes himself look like an idiot.
  20. Soderberg would like blocks, but doesn't want Bryce flying around trying to block everything. If Bryce does that, then the whole idea of the pack defense if ruined and leaves a man open to get the rebound and slam it home. I see Bryce getting around 12 minutes a game when Ian gets in foul trouble or needs a rest.Ian isn't playing for the Geek team this summer like he did last year which will give him fresher legs at the end of the season.
  21. 1. Best game would be 2004 NIT game when Drejaj hit the 3 at the buzzer and everyone stormed the court. I've only been at SLU for 3 years so there aren't a whole lot of great games to choose from. Soph. year was pretty bad. 2. 1995 with Claggett, Highmark, H Waldman, Jeff Harris when they made the second reound of the tourney. My teacher in grade school let us watch the game during lunch and recess. 3. I think Ian Vouyoukas will lead the team in scoring as long as he stay healthy. King Vouk will have some great games, but if he doesn't shoot his free throws well, that will hurt his scoring as he gets fouled a ton. Tommie and Lisch will both average double digits again, but I give it to Ian because of his abilities and the amount of free throws he will get. 4. I think Danny will join Tommie and Kevin. 5. Vieira is a yes.
  22. Got a better idea for what to wear....Have people dress as either Rev. Lawrence Biondi or one of their favorite statues around campus. It would be funny to see everyone dressed as a statue.
  23. Is there something creepy about a bunch of older men staring at college aged girls in really tight shorts? If there is, then I never want to grow up. On a side note, why do volleyball players wear such tight shorts? It really would have no effect on their game to wear soccer like shorts.
  24. Finding someone with a Marketing degree a decent paying job really is a charity case. Just kidding, but with how SLU's marketing department is, I don't think you would want to work there. We seem to have a lack of professionals in West Pine that are content doing the bare min to still get paid. Half the kids on SLU's campus don't know when the games are. When I tell my roommates that I'm leaving to go to the game, they all look at me like I'm crazy to think we even have a basketball team.
