  1. I've heard the women will exhibition against Wash.U. and scrimmage Northwestern in Chicago.
  2. Accurate information! Paul will be the lead guy on College and H.S. Basketball recruiting for ESPN's website, covering the entire country.
  3. Meeting NCAA eligibility standards are far different than meeting SLU admission standards! Let's hope Rick has an "in" over at the admission's office if these rumors are substantiated. A 3.5 GPA with an ACT score of a 15 may get you in at Southern Illinois, but SLU will laugh while stamping the "rejected" ink on the admission application!!!!!
  4. If anyone parks on the street, keep valuables out of sight! To me it will be worth paying to park in the garage to insure some low-life doesn't try to break into my Chevette!
  5. Let's hope Chris May understands there are still limits at SLU and that the jump to his next gig may need his patience as he rides on the hall-of-famers coat-tails!
  6. Read on coaching news online where Sodie is rumored to be a candidate for the Western Illinois job. Another viable option for him would be as an assistant for the Hoosiers if Tony Bennett gets that position; even though Kramer couldn't play at that level.
  7. Great report Nate! Looks as if Shimmy is getting "gangsta" on recruiting the local kids! How do you think Hanlen will eventually fit into the mix?
  8. Speaking of Shimmy and Rick recruiting, was over at Columbia College all day yesterday attending the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Annual Clinic; SLU's coaches made the University proud! Mizzou demonstrated individual workouts, they were weak. Several other D-I coaches spoke, but the Billiken duo were by far the most impressive. I didn't get a chance to stay for the Norm Stewart/Rick Majerus show last night, but everyone was looking forward to it! Shimmy was by far the most dynamic presenter and gave the 650 coaches in attendance plenty of drills in her 75 minute presentation. All due respect to Rick, Shimmy presents much better! Not saying she knows any more, but her style is more dynamic! From the comments going around the coaches, Saint Louis University placed a big stamp on yesterday's festivities!!
  9. It has been a long time, if ever, there was a St. Joseph's Academy kid on the SLU roster! I think this is a huge get for Shimmy because this kid will develop into the perfect shooter to go along with all of the athleticism Shimmy has in her '08 class! Has Shimmy signed an extension yet?
  10. Men's basketball, Women's basketball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading all fight for gym time in West Pine!!! Reports say that will be the case in Chaifetz as well due to the fact that Larry doesn't want the basketball floor down in the main arena unless it is game day! I truly hope that report is false!!!!
  11. I heard she got homesick and is now back in Chicago working at a grocery store!
  12. Don't be surprised if we go through this entire year without an AD. The new AD will probably be announced in April or May. Biondi can't bring in prospective AD candidates while Rick is in season!!!
  13. Latest Blog from coachshimmy.com- She is quite entertaining!! FROM A DOG'S PERSPECTIVE I’ve got a great man in my life. He’s good to me. Keeps me warm at night. Gives the best kisses. Faithful, which is a rarity these days. He’s never in a bad mood. And he’s satisfied with just the tiniest bit of affection from me. I rub his belly and give him a pat on the head and he’s just fine with that. So what if he snores and I have to pick up after him from time to time? We have the perfect relationship. The thing I love the most about him is his consistency. He loves me unconditionally, whether I’m happy or sad. Whether I’m wearing make up or look a hot mess. Most importantly, he loves me whether I win or lose. His name is Flynt and he is my 4-year-old Boxer mix. I bought him while in Arizona and he followed me to St. Louis. He wasn’t crazy about the snow initially, but he never complained. Even though I have to leave him for weeks at a time because of work travel, he is always ecstatic when I return. My players have fallen in love with him and they often dog-sit for me or just come over to play with him, (and give me a hard time about how long my grass is in the backyard.) His name is homage to my hometown of Flint, MI. I never want to forget my roots and he epitomizes my blue-collar birthplace. He’s full of energy and life and he definitely appreciates all the little things. The walks around the block. The dog biscuits. The games of fetch, (which usually consist of me throwing, him catching, and then me chasing him to get the ball back.). He’s a very appreciative fellow who loves the simple things life has to offer but I’d be remiss if I didn’t go back to the consistency factor. Like my family and friends in Flint, this dog cares about me as Shimmy from the Block. Not Coach Gray-Miller. Case in point: We started this season with a bang. 5-0. Best start in school history in several years. I remember the evening we clinched #5 very vividly. We returned from a road game and I was on top of the world. We were 5-0. Wait a minute, maybe you didn’t hear me. WE WERE 5-0!!!!!! (See, my first year at SLU we won a total of 7 games so 5-0 was a really big deal.) I put my key in the lock, which is his cue to emerge from his resting place and race to the front door. When he saw that it was me, he went nuts. I thought to myself, “Wow. He’s really smart. He knows we’re 5-0.†Hey, I leave the TV on for him when I’m gone so I’m thinking maybe he caught the news or something. So anyway, I walk inside and he starts jumping all over me. At that moment I felt like the greatest dog owner in the world. “We’re 5-0 and my dog really loves me!†Let’s fast forward to the middle of the season. We have some injuries and play some great competition and those days of being 5-0 are well behind us. In fact, we started a different kind of streak. Try 0-7. We lost games we shouldn’t have lost and with each loss, I’m sinking lower and lower. As a coach, the losses always hurt more and as the head coach, you start questioning every decision that’s made. Whether right or wrong, it’s just what you do. So we have lost the 7th straight and I’m returning home. I turn down my street half expecting to see a For Sale sign stuck in my front lawn. I begrudgingly walk up the steps and put the key in the door. And then it happens. Out of nowhere, Flynt comes tearing down the hall and starts jumping at the door. “Oh great,†I thought, “He’s been watching the news again. He knows. And he’s not going to let me in this house. My own dog has turned against me.†I couldn’t have been any more wrong. I walked in that house and that dog starts jumping all over, licking me and giving love like you wouldn’t believe. “We’re 0-7 and my dog really loves me!†5-0. 0-7. Doesn’t matter to Flynt. All he cares about is that I rub his belly, take him on walks, and play with him. If only everyone in my life loved me that unconditionally. I realize that this business can often be cruel and the people associated with it can often be described as bandwagoneers. (Did I just make that word up? Probably, but you know who you are.) I also realize that if my players or assistant coaches jumped up and down and wagged their tails when we lost 7 straight games, I would question their passion and commitment to what we’re trying to do. Therefore I realize the unconditional love I’m searching for might only be found in the canine persuasion. But wouldn’t it be nice if the next time we go 0-7, I could just rub my Athletic Director’s belly or pat the booster’s on the head and they would still find me as wonderful as Flynt does?.
  14. Biondi Fires Brad- No Press Conference. Questioned Yesterday At The Arena Update About Brad- He Defers Everything To Cheryl. Biondi is a gutless coward.
  15. I hope the Plan B Coach gets the same resources that are presently being offered to Majerus!
  16. Something Timmerman did not mention as a sticking point is the cell phone issue. It has reared it's ugly head again and Biondi does not want to pay for them. Probably trying to figure out how one of the "Deep Pockets" can rectify this situation. Cell Phones...... Cell Phones; We're Talkin about Cell Phones. Not, not a million dollar contract..... Cell Phones!
  17. As I have stated before, the cell phone has been a big issue; along with paying for parking, reimbursement for travel, etc. Both Shimmy and Brad have requested compensation for their staff's cell phones, only to be shot down. What message are you sending to your coaches when every other staff in the country is getting their bills paid for the most important recruiting tool you need?
  18. I would say this about Shimmy, if Rachel doesn't want to comes to SLU and be a part of history in her hometown, then Shimmy wouldn't want her! Shimmy doesn't seem to be the type that operates in the begging business.
  19. If her H.S. Coach, Rolfes, has anything to do with it, Rachel will not be transferring to SLU. Rolfes has stated he doesn't like Shimmy. That's too bad. Rachel would be eligible to play during the first season of the new arena, on a team that will undoubtedly have a chance at going to their program's first ever NCAA appearance! Shimmy has a great guard corps that would compliment Rachel ver well. Just can't figure out why Rolfes doesn't like Shimmy.
  20. Shimmy was a Juco coach in Seattle for a year, then was hired as an assistant at Washington where she spent two years. From Washington she was an assistant at Arizona before arriving here at SLU. Shimmy is not going anywhere! She started 4 freshmen, played 5 freshmen considerable minutes and has a great recruiting class coming in; with two recruits locked up for the '08 class. They hung tough with George Washington for the majority of the game this year, who won last night and has advanced to the sweet sixteen over Texas A&M. She wants to take these kids to a conference championship and the NCAA's!
  21. Has someone asked Cheryl or Larry if the coaches do indeed pay for their own cell phones? A coach from the not too distant past confirmed this to me, but I would be interested to know for sure. With the importance of cell phones and text messaging in the recruiting process, it would be a travesty to know that our coaches foot their own bill. That wouldn't be support in my book.
  22. As stated yesterday over on the mizzou tiger board, Biondi is not a fan of sports and will not see any need to take care of someone who can bring credibility to the university via athletics.
  23. Good, Bad, or Indifferent, if we were in the MVC, Shimmy and her five freshmen would have won the conference this year. The Salukis win the conference with a 13-2 record; the same team that lost to our beloved Billikens by 8 in Carbondale. Shimmy owns S.I.U. with a 2-0 record in her short tenure here. How will Shimmy handle the expectations next year?
  24. SHE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! THIS TEAM SHE IS ASSEMBLING IS TOO GOOD TO LEAVE THIS SOON!!!
