the league needs to get back to sending more teams each year to the dance.

the above is extracted from Ford's comment in the Kilcoyne interview.......I'm done blaming the A10 for lack of teams in the dance.  Each team is responsible for their OOC scheduling (including multi-team events) and how they perform.   We're in the A10 until we can consistently dominate the A10.  Even if Dayton and VCU left the conference, I believe CF would struggle to win the A10.

It was a titanic effort but we still fell short.  Some observations:

If you haven't noticed, we have found our "identity" and that identity is also our offense, namely hero ball compliments of Sincere Parker.  I have long asked what CTF's offense is and these last two games have shown it: hero ball.  Find that one extraordinary talent and run it into the ground.  It started with Javon Bess.  Tremaine Isabell.  Jordan Goodwin.  Javonte Perkins.  Yuri Collins.  And now Sincere Parker.  It was also Marcus Smart.  Le'Bryan Nash.  And Phil Forte.  This is what CTF is.

The injury bug excuse.  Again, it was solely Sincere Parker.  That broken foot took the hero out of hero ball.  Meadows doesn't matter.  Thames didn't matter.  Hughes didn't matter.  Sure, those injuries might have limited the rotation but the real injury was the loss of Parker.  Jimerson is not equipped to be 'the man.'  The kid works his arse off but he can't create his own shot.  Only Parker can.  I bought that but these last two games have revealed the CTF strategy beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Turnovers killed us but again as Soderball has pointed out as have others our true weakness is evidenced by the fact that we have no point guard.  For all the Hughes love, he had seven turnovers.  Medley had four and Ezewiro three.  Compounding Ezewiro's bad game is the fact the Joeys had no interior presence whatsoever.  Yet Big Brad was nowhere to be found today.  Essankado didn't even play.  Klacek is useless.  Today would have been the best day to play matchup and leave Hargrove at the 5.

Defense.  What defense?  First Parker then Thames down the stretch played matador defense.  Ezewiro's fifth foul was pure stupidity .... the man was in for a dunk/layup.  With four fouls, you basically concede that and live to fight another day.  Not Big Brad.  Right before Tim McCormack echoed my point I noted X. Brown could only go to his right.  Yet no one overplayed him and forced him left.  Parker could have dribbled out his defensive rebound with 28 seconds to go and us up one.  Instead he throws a dumb pass to the small point guard and we turn it over.  Four seconds after that .... FOUR SECONDS .... TJ loses Fleming for the dunk.  Parker makes the go ahead layup again but then fouls Brown.  Then despite calling a timeout right before that, Ford designs a play to get the ball into Parker to go the length of the court.  NOT LIKE EVERY FAN IN THE BUILDING KNEW THAT WAS COMING!  Three guys were on Parker but heros don't give it up, do they?  We shot 86% from the line and one would think that with 28 seconds left and the ball, we'd be smarter.  The Joeys will go for the steal and missing that, they would foul.  Likely a three-point lead with under 20 to go.

The melted down just like their coach did.  Another win would have been nice yet immaterial as far as the season is going.  To come all that way and then lose it just hurts.

Yes, 8 assists on 28 field goals indicates we are back to bully ball.  Sincere may actually be more skilled at it than any other recent Billiken.   I prefer ball movement but I'm admittedly old school.

His 3% is just a tick below normal.  If he has one big game from 3 his numbers will be right where they normally are.

As for FG, the amount of easy backdoor cuts that was eliminated killed it for him. That was Yuri's specialty. Gibby isn't good at finishing through contact.

Not only the backdoor cuts, but the quick outlet pass too.  Many, many times Yuri hit a streaking Gibby with 3/4 court pass for an easy layup.

I've tried to watch the NBA - I just cant.  Does anyone have a good analysis of how he has done this year?   I would think an unselfish, physical, rebounding guard who is an excellent defender would be a good role player to have in a rotation.  But maybe not.

I used to be in the same boat, but I have recently changed my attitude about the NBA.

I still prefer the college atmosphere (whether in person or via TV), but the skill level in the NBA is amazing and they actually move the ball much better than the men's college game.  The pro's almost always make the extra pass for a better shot.

The Suns have elite skill on their team.  It is not an indictment on JG that his playing time is diminished.  His playing style was much appreciated by the Suns fans (at least what I observed on social media)

This is straight-up cruelty. This is how Billiken basketball spreads. My dad made me watch this stuff now look at me.

Next thing you know those kids are gonna be on billikens.com!! THINK!!

LOL.  My 2 boys (both diehard fans) have been lamenting recently why i raised them as billikens.

BVF has now gone another two months without tweeting after going on a two week bender of tweeting commercials for Troy's real estate business.  It has, also, gone a month now with out retweeting one of Troy's own tweets of his commercials.  There is no link on BVF's X profile to the BVF's website or anyway direction on how to give.  If you actually make the effort to find the BVF's website it is only a homepage.  That homepage doesn't tell you what BVF does, doesn't lay out a clear purpose, states no long-term or short-term goals, doesn't give you any of the basics of how NIL works, doesn't offer incentives to give and has no way for a person to set up reoccurring donations.  Troy is a good guy and he is doing this on a volunteer basis, but nothing about how he has run BVF says he is the guy to run the athletic department in the new college athletic world.

Plus his real estate business may produce better income with more longevity than a SLU AD position.

Yuri was definitely the problem. If only he would have been a little more selfless.

Yuri enforced at least some discipline on offense.  CTF seems perfectly happy with these crazy "head down" drives

Why are these announcers praising Ford? Hey, if u like him so much hire him.

everyone likes a bad coach when he's the coach of your rival.  Like I said before, i loved Cuonzo at Mizzou.  Plus many announcers mistakenly believe fans of an opposing team will be irate if you criticize anything associated with the team.

An article in the newspaper pushes the issue into public view in a way that SLU just can’t ignore. In case you’re wondering, SLU was ignoring the issue publicly.  Privately, they must realize where this is headed. The real nightmare scenario is that SLU can’t find the money to buy out Travis Ford.

Perhaps SLU is doing some things behind the scenes to get in front of the inevitability.  Things seem to be in motion since Dr. C was in town.  That said, it's an awkward position for Coaching staff and players if CTF is indeed in lame-duck status.

It was all deleted from Twitter, it was from the accounts that Ford’s son and that other guy set up for the day of burnergate. 10 Mil was what they threw out

MBM's had been speculating that for awhile that the worst case buyout was $2.5M x 4 years = $10M.  The burner account could have very well just ran with that to achieve maximum consternation amongst us.

Agree with this, especially with Ezeriro not being able to play until a judge frees up a bunch of double transfer kids.  Seems like he and probably team thought he would not be playing this year and wasn't close to game shape when suddenly eligible.   Team already short of decent players & Dalger gone--not great player but still could use 10-15 minutes a game from him.  Thought Meadows would bring more but doesn't really fit as a pg and not a scoring threat to help others get open.

No idea if Ford will be back or not but if back could only be with a new assistant or two and ones that can bring in talent ASAP from portal.

I don't think Ford can lure an influential assistant coach at this point.

Correct.  But If you're Ford, the thought is your AD no longer believes in you, that's just the reality.  Yes winning help's, but not having the support also makes things tougher.  Its why the contract was incredibly stupid.  Telling someone in any profession that they wont be bringing you back in x amount of time just leads to unproductive

the AD could pause the auto renewal and then reinstate if CF meets certain goals.  kinda like being put on "warning".  no one else would even know

My son played select ball through HS and a couple years at D1.  He totally prefers a well maintained natural field over turf.  It's been a while, but there are (were) some very good natural surface fields in St. Louis;  Marquette, Lafayette, Lindbergh being three in particular that were pretty good.

    This makes sense to me.

Some of the high schools are going to turf for high usage reasons.  These schools may have Varsity, JV, and a frosh teams all sharing the same field.  They must get practices and games in between 3PM and darkness.  Anything they can do to eliminate rainouts is huge.  Turf over grass helps eliminate rainouts.  Of course, lights help increase usage as well.
