  1. What i'm saying is that, we won, Let's enjoy it. The first post someone sees is always a negative one. What would satisfy the "bills fans" on this board. You complain if you don't win and try to blame any and everyone on the team. And if you do win, you still complain. Who would know how to recognize a true bills fan? Is it because they post everyday on the board, because they're charter members, because everyone knows them. Who else in my position, that's new to the board this season, with all the negative post and all the doubt even before a game is played would know who's a true bills fan. I'm not talking about ones who basically show their support regardless of the situation, I mean ones who are never satisfied, if we go to the NCAA tournament this year, Everyone will love it and speak highly of the team. What does it take for these players to get a break from all the criticism. Do we not think they read these boards, they shouldn't during the season but what if they do?????
  2. My bad, you're entitled to your opinion. I'm happy for the win, I look at this win as the start of a good roll for the team going into conference play. I just knew though that the first post I saw about the results of this game would be a negative one, where someone was dissatisfied with something. I could care less what kind of team K-state may be, I know the Bills have a tough schedule ahead and if they can go into with a winning streak and their momentum high, they may fair better.
  3. we won by playing hard and being patient. I wondered how long, before the haters started in on the post. A win is a win, if they team had lost, what would be said then???
  4. I think Reg has done okay so far, I have seen much better from him. I want him to step up a little more in his role as an aggressor. He needs to get to the foul line more, he stresses about his no calls, thinks the refs aren't on his side. I would like for him to play thru it, to get mad, Reg doesn't get mad enough for me, but he's certainly helping the team. I feel the guys aren't getting their feel for shooting early in the game. Guys like Sloan, Drejaj and Ohanon, need to get warmed up early so they won't be afraid to shoot, if you miss go for the rebound and move on. Frericks is always good to me, his intensity will pump up any player on the team. Their defense is tight, that offense needs work. But right now, I think they all can do much better.
  5. I agree with some of your comments. I personally questioned some things within the team. I see no go get em' attitudes, I see players just content and some times confused. In order to win games whether big or small, you have to play with heart and you have to play smart. Meaning, right now, we don't have a "big man", why aren't we double-teaming on the defensive end, especially when the opposition is bigger. I don't understand sitting Reg the whole half, maybe Coach had something else in mind. Players need to get pumped. Stop passing. I talk to Reg before every game so he can get pumped and in turn get his team pumped. He played hurt the whole second half, he's limping a little but was determined to play on. We need the whole team to play with the same intensity (when possible), especially on the defensive end. This team won't make it on one person, The players has to step up and play every game like it's their last. The coaches have to make wise decisions. I know Reg wouldn't have fouled out either (normally) but from what I was told, the refs were on him hard. Other teams know he's the go to guy, he's not getting respect from the refs, i'm sure he has to earn it being in a different conference and all, but they were looking and waiting for him to foul. Also there is no motivation within the players. Get pumped, play hard. All who can shoot, shoot the ball. Warm up early, just because u miss a shot doesn't mean be afraid to take one the rest of the game. In general over the last few games that I've managed to watch, that's what I sense from this team. I'm not blaming the coach or the team, I'm trying to find solutions. I think this team is talented, maybe the coach missed out on some recruitments, maybe he didn't. It's not all about getting people who can play, you don't want kids playing with nasty attitudes, poor grades, baggage.....you have to look at every aspect of their life at that point. I just hope they can get it together, no one is respecting SLU right now, NO ONE, but that will change. We knew who the players were at the beginning of the season, we knew what we were working with, make the best of what we have. We can certainly complain when players or coaches or refs aren't giving their best, we also can encourage and not harp on things, that we can't control right now. SMS had players that were rejected by SLU, so??? The season has started, we can't turn back time, it's exhausting, just pick up and move on. All I care about is if these players, play hard, stay focused and hush the critics. I know some of my comments aren't in direct response to your post, but it was on my mind. Peace
  6. Sorry I was so late with this post but had to say it. Stop Hatin!!. Reg and the coach knew what his defense was like when he RECRUITED Reg. He called our phone. Reg wasn't even out of Nova when different coaches started calling. I agree, he has to step up his defense, he has to get better. That's what college is for, If anybody's game was perfect, they would have left college early(??). They said the same things about Reg Miller....The point is he played well and It could've been better, especially on the defense, but don't shoot down his effort because you're a hater. Acknowledge them, accept them and move on. I was at home yelling about his defense, but It was not that damn bad. He could never lose a game for this team, if Reg is responsible for losing a game for SLU it will be due to his poor shooting, not his defense or lack there of. That's what he was brought here to do shoot, Brad knew about his defensive issues. He is working on that, not just IGNORING THE COACH!!!!
  7. As stated before, you'll have a hard time convincing many on this board that SLU could win. I believe SLU plays well together, yes there's room for improvement as in most teams but I think people are really sleeping on SLU. It should be a really good game. I wish I could see it. Great insight.
  8. Guys, I know everyone on this board will express their feelings and that's cool. While I don't like the comparisons to MP, I don't want anyone walking on eggshells. I love the insight, I love the comments, I trip off of this board. I do think that its do or die for Reg, "stop passing the freakin ball and shoot it"!!!(Sorry I get excited . I definitely saw too much of that last night. Not only on Reg's part but all of the shooters it was like, no one wanted to put up a shot. I'd rather the guys shoot and miss then not to shoot at all and waste our time looking at passes all night. But i'm also the die hard optimist. I think, the game wasn't the worst ever. I believe the team is a great one. I don't think we should panic just yet. We can definitely hate on how the team plays(not the players), but let's not stress just yet. I think it's premature to be so harsh about the players and this one game. Again not just this thread but some of the others I've read as well. Don't kill me guys but I was pleasantly surprised at the camaraderie the guys had toward and for one another. Even when mistakes were made, they still cheered each other on, after the game as well....It just showed me that this team is a family and they all want the same things. I think they'll work their butts off to get what they want.
  9. Again I agree. I don't know how many times I yelled defense isn't played from behind your man. I didn't see Reg's game at all last night. The points he put up weren't his best, he's capable of more(meaning better shots and defense). It will take some getting used to but he has to step up on the defensive, that's no question.
  10. I agree. I couldn't quite understand last night as well. I was looking at the team and they didn't seem prepared to handle a big team. I thought Reggie's turnovers were crucial because he was doing too much passing. I believe that if he has any hope of being a leader on this team, he's gonna have to be prepared to shoot the ball and pick up the scoring slack. I Didn't realize that Frericks' Asthma was that bad. The other guys, Fisher, Sloan and Drejaj, Reg, Johnson, I believe would have faired better, if they stayed out of the hole. Reg has an outside game, why we didn't see it i'm unsure. Everything that was taken in the inside was either turned over or blocked. I think they should develop and master the skill of double teaming big men until Ian does get back and hopefully when he gets back he'll be able to add some pressure in the inside. I think this was a learning game, the rallied at one point, I don't think I can base this game as an example for the rest of the season. I certainly hope not. As stated by Taj I guess Reg still has some rust to shake off!
  11. I can comprehend the "written word" pretty well, thus the reason for my sermon to enlighten you and the rest of the folk on this board of just what Reg brings to the table. How presumptuous of me to interpret your lack of knowledge on the players. You do have the right to whatever comments you so desire, and the right to a response. Whether opinionated or supported by facts. You're also right that studs don't transfer carte blanche. There was no big blow up about him and the team or the coach, no big scandal. The new coach was going in a different direction and Reg himself decided that Nova was no longer the place for him. He received well wishes, administration tried to persuade him otherwise but he wanted a change. I'm not sure if Reg is looking to be a big NBA star or a stud, but I know he's looking to be a better man, and he thought he would get more experience and opportunity moving to SLU. This is for the record. Like I said before, and I'm sticking to it. I think this years team is much better because on any given day, any one of the team members are capable of leading the team. It's not surrounded by one person. Reg, Marquee, Larry Hughes, Justin, Fisher, no one person can do it all (Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Gary Payton). I try hard not to pass judgement on any of the players, the coaches, even Billikens.com family. When I feel the need to speak up, I do just that.
  12. Don't pay to see the team, just keep on with your bogus analysis of team members that you don't even know. I notice that a lot of people on this board are very negative. Sleep on SLU just like everyone else, continue to sleep. You'll awaken with a shocking surprise. I like your type, so big on the analysis and talk, which sounds good, but no actual facts involved. Your type would pay for the glitz and the glamour, you wouldn't pay for the team who puts forth an effort just a "show". Please!!! My Bad, why even bother, you wouldn't understand.
  13. Hey, You're right, Reggie is no "Mark Karcher". He's not into the fast life, he's into the right life. As far as your not hearing of Reggie in Baltimore, I'm unsure why. He's played AAU for Cecil Kirk, Oliver Rec, Baltimore Select, He was Catholic Player of the year from Calvert Hall, he's been Athlete of the week several times in the Baltimore Sun, He was first team all metro quite a few times in Baltimore. He lead his Prep School St Thomas More to win the New England Prep Championships, he was heavily, I put the emphasis on heavily scouted, by not just Nova, but Clemson, West Va., Rutgers, Temple, George Washington, American Unv, Miami and a host of other schools. No he's no "Mark Karcher" he managed to make the dean's list and honor roll while playing basketball. Ask anybody in Baltimore (who really knows basketball) about Reggie and they'll tell you. He's played with the best of them, he's beaten the best of them, he's home every summer, Mark played him in the Catholic league. He was teammates with Marcus Hattan(MO), Juan Dixon, he beat the Caron Butler's in prep school and many more in the NBA today. Please don't sleep. I read this board to trip off the comments that people write. I thought your comments had some "substance" until your analysis on the different team members. What do you know about Reg, to know Reg is to know me, WHAT DO U KNOW?????? This isn't disrespect this is fact, I deal in factual information. Reggie was one of two highest ranking 3 pt shooters and free throw shooter on his Nova team. He averaged more time, then some of the starters and when he started, he finished. He saved the Nova team and took them as far as the NIT both years and wasn't "the man" on the team. Come on. Talk some knowledge here, I can't believe your comments. Get some facts, you're from Baltimore??? What do u really know about Reg???........
  14. Well I'm very glad to see that SLU won, as stated plenty of times before I am excited about this year. Soderberg just stated exactly the same sentiments as myself when he said he doesn't want a go to guy, but wants all of his guys to be in double figures. I'm with that! Reg will be back, and hopefully add to the team. But we definitely don't want to sleep on the efforts of the other players. I believe any one of these guys can be "the guy" at any time. I haven't talk to Reg since early friday, but I'm sure he was cheering the guys on keeping them pumped up, eventhough he's on the bench the players still need that push and encouragement. If he's slacking in the "cheering" department, please yell at him for me guys.
  15. Well I'm glad to hear that coach sparked a little fire under their butts. Like I say he's a fair man, I'm sure he'll do what's necessary for the team. Whomever it may be. There's no I in team, and no one should be exempt from his frustration. From what I hear (since I can't see them) practices are very intense and that's good. Because if coach can see you busting your butt in practice, he's assured you'll do the same in games. If you're playing lifeless and display a negative attitude, i'm sure he couldn't count on you in games. It's that simple.
  16. I understand the analysis of Reggie and Marquee. I really do. I guess I'm looking at it as if all I'm hearing is Marquee, I'm sure that's all Reg's hearing and I don't want to add any pressure whatsoever. I want him to Play is game, some will welcome it, some won't. I don't want him caught up in the Hype of even thinking he has shoes to fill. Thats not his mindset. His focus is playing with this team and help them go as far as they can in their title quest. Well until I can get there I'm hoping you all will give Reggie this advice when you're at games. He's very humble, he'll want some insight. Because I'm not there, I can't yell at him during the games, but you all sure can!! I'm certainly gonna pass on all of these helpful tips.
  17. Reg didn't tell me about the shorts now!! come on. That long?? I didn't think they would let him play with shorts that long, I have to research that one. haha
  18. Reg is just "Reg" all day everyday. That's it. I talked to him last night right after the game, he told me of the six turnovers. I was surprised. He says he wasn't nervous, he just couldn't get a rhythm. I'm sure this isn't an ongoing occurance, he can move off the dribble very well, cut in and out of lanes, can shoot the 3, can dunk the ball. He actually can do it all. Not being biased just honest. I think we're giving "Marquee" an awful lot of press this year. He's gone, Let's move on. This is just the first of many games to come. You all will see that Reggie has his own style of play. He may be inspired by other players to play well, but he never tries to duplicate anyone. Marquee may have been the savior to the Billikens last year, but this year there's a change in the game. No one man can do it alone, this year, the "team" will prevail. I'm sure if Justin is sitting, then we must believe it's for a very good reason. Soderberg is very fair. I'm looking forward to a very productive season!!
  19. I'm just expecting great things from this team in general. This is a "statement" year. It's time for SLU to show and prove. I'm excited just reading the messages, because I really feel that a team that's not focused on just the "go to guy" or just "one" player(marquee) will fair better in the long run. There shouldn't be one person on this team that consistently leads in scoring, or rebounding. I hope that everyone who gets credible playing time, are all able to score, rebound, play sound defense and offense at any given time. That meaning if it's not Reggie's night to lead, it's Fisher's night, Drejaj's, or Clarke's, Hunt's or whomever. That's how hopeful I am of this team. One person can't take us all the way. Everyone has to feel like they can lead this team, that it's on them to play their best. If at the end of the day their best effort wasn't good enough, then so be it. But that's what I'm looking forward to. A true team playing like a team, not just passing to one or two players to whom we think will win the game for us. Except for Clutch time that's different. hahaha!!!
  20. Yes, you all are really good at making us feel Welcome. Hope to see you all at some of the games.
  21. Yes I'm Reggie's Sister, "how'd you ever guess"? hahaha. I'm his biggest fan and supporter, I'm his worst critic, his second coach, and his sound board. But most of all, I Love the game of Basketball. I support all of the Baltimore players from Juan Dixon, Carmello Anthony, Marcus Hattan, Derrick Snowden, and many more in colleges, that one rarely hears of. I just show my support for them all, they are all very decent guys. Reggie grew up with these guys and they all share a common dream and that's Basketball. I just make sure they stay focused on their dream. I'm very anxious to see what this season holds for SLU. This is new territory for Reg and he speaks very highly of his teammates and his coaches. So with all of their enthusiasm, I'm expecting great things from this team.
  22. Oh Yes, we'll definitely get to see Reggie play. I'll be there for his game at West Va., will hopefully be in St. Louis during Christmas so we'll be there for a home game on the 27th. Will travel to Dayton and Carolina. So I'll get to see a few of his games. I'm relying on you all and the coaches to keep me abreast of his progress. Reggie's my little brother and our father is a cross country tractor trailer driver, so he comes thru St. Louis once a month at least and gets a chance to fill in the blanks for us back in Baltimore, he talk with the coaches and teachers. Good looking out on the info!
  23. I'm glad that you are able to view the practices. I live on the east coast and I would love to keep updated on the progress of the team in practices, and would invite your thoughts on how Reggie is playing. That is if you don't mind. The more insight the better for me.
  24. Reggie's career speaks for itself. Not only at Villanova, but at St. Thomas More and Calvert Hall as well. He has played for prominent AAU teams and gained much experience from his extensive traveling. As any other player coming in the door of a new school, Reggie had to pay his dues. He did that very well. His time was certainly not limited at Nova. He wasn't a starter and raked just as much time if not more then they did in games. His role on the Nova team was not to be a leader, but to keep them winning games, go in the hole, shoot the 3 or even motivate the team. I know him personally, I know his game, Let's wait and see what this season holds for him at St.Louis. Reggie is the coaches "dream player", he may not be the "star" player, but the "dream". He does and plays exactly how the coaches ask him to play. He doesn't deviate from the plan, or goes hawk, that's not him. He listens and he produces. I think St. Louis was a good fit for him. He'll prove himself to the doubters and as usual, you will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
