  1. I have heard that Mizzou’s vaunted incoming recruits are each getting 6 figure NIL money.  The returning players will need taken care of, as well.

Whatever budget we may have needs to support both recruitment and retention.  Such is the cost of being competitive going forward.

Definitely overly emotional. Seems to me he wants to be playing as much as coaching which is why he's always stepping on the court or going too far onto the court. Can't believe he isn't warned more for how far and how often he ventures out there. There've been times when it looked like we had a sixth defender on the floor when he's three feet off the sideline and waving his arms around.

I think his strength is designing baseline OB plays and plays out of timeouts, but in general, our offense is boring and predictable. As much as anything, SLU is going to have to pony up the cash to get better players or whoever the coach is becomes irrelevant.

Overly emotional?  Some observers would call it intensity, which is generally considered a good thing.
No argument from me that his in -game management is inconsistent at best.  But if being ‘emotional’ helps motivate the players, then so be it.

  3. If the legal system plays out in favor of an unlimited ability of athletes to transfer, will the rate limiting step be the maximum number of players allowed on a give team for a given sport?

Will athletes sign contracts with ‘no cut’ clauses?  If so, with a cap on the number of players per team,  schools may not be able to create space for free agents to transfer (particularly in mid season).    I can imagine a scenario where schools will sue the NCAA to allow a waiver on the number of players on board.
More business opportunities for agents and attorneys.

  4. Under Majerus, the Billiken whole was significantly better than the sum of its parts.

Hopefully the SLU power brokers can recognize that the opposite is true under the current regime.

Until these last 2 games,  I was wondering whether the players were either unwilling or unable to do what the coaching staff wanted them to do.

At this point, we are an embarrassment to the A-10.  Let Tate and Harriman take over for the remainder of the season.

  5. Even the bluebloods can have difficult years when they are in rebuilding mode.

A couple of questions as we contemplate blowing up the program:

Is TF responsible for the BVF recruiting /signing budget?  Is Chris May?

What % of D1 coaches do we think could  take our current roster into the NCAA tournament?

@VeniceMenace --- under Ford?  Do you think so?  It's going to take a huge chnage in spots for Ford to back off his 'defense first' playing time dictatorship.  But I think he has to adapt in many ways.  Same old same old just won't work.

A couple of years back I texted a question to one of the TF-Rammer radio shows.

I asked TF whether it was easier for him to teach a scorer to play defense, or to teach a defensive specialist to be a scorer.

His answer was basically that scorers are born, not made and that only a small percentage of defensive specialists can be coached into becoming significant scorers.   He then said that in the same way, it is difficult to convert a natural scorer into a strong defender.

Our problem last year was defense, not offense.  Our traditional home court advantage was neutralized by our lack of defensive intensity.

  7. Regardless of last season’s results, this was going to be a major rebuilding off-season.

This looks like a fairly solid group of newbies.   I am willing to watch this team evolve this coming season. Even the blue bloods need time for their 5 star recruits to gel.
