While Id much rather be in Cincinnati next week, Im gonna have to stand up for Roy here. Taj, going on a cruise is a FAR better excuse to miss the tournament than the one you had last year. I had NOTHING to do with the planing commitee on this cruise thing. This is pretty much how it went.... Mrs Nati "Were going on a cruise next year." Nati "Ok, when?" Mrs Nati "March 12th through the 20th" (Mrs then see's the wheels turning in my head and before I could say a word....) Mrs Nati "Thats too bad, Its Roy & Anita's 20th and were going!" Me "ok" (With my head held low) (When the coast was clear, I ran to a phone to tell Roy exactly what I thought about his little important day) Tom, Dont let Taj weasel his way out of Round 2 at the tournament. I for one know that it can take him two years to buy beers! Oh and uhhh...Drink 3 for me! BTW....I couldnt agree more about Addition by Subtraction. Hope to see you and G in October!

Who knows what this guy's talking about?!?!? All that's important right now (5:42pm on Monday) is I wanna know if you'll be sporting red and black on wednesday night Mr Taj? You know you want to....

for words. I dont know how a team that was soo driven by the lack of "respect" so far this year could go out and let themselves be humiliated on national tv by 27 points. During the 1st half the bearcat D was't there, how many wide open shots did Dean have to hit before Nick decided to get within 5 feet of him? How many times did Johnson and Maxiell collapse on the ball only to leave their man wide open underneath before they finally stopped leaving their man? All of this was overlooked by me cause the shots were falling on our end as well. So at halftime while down 4, I thought they (UC) could be up by 10 if they played a lick of D. So, I figure Huggins will take over from there at halftime. Boy was I in for a suprise. The 2nd was even worse. No defense whatsoever, shots werent falling, and now they really can hit a free throw. Those are called free for a reason, yet no one can hit them. They started to show signs of poor free throw shooting in the end of the Marquette game, hell it's worse now. When ESPN cut away from the game with 5 minutes left to show their "baby's" Duke, I went to my computer and fired up the radio broadcast to finish the slaughtering. In his post game review Huggins was mad as hell. Not at the players, not at the officals but mad at himself. Said he has done a lousy job in practice working on the little things that this team doesnt "get". Im not soo sure I want to be wearing a bearcat jersey right now. Furthermore Im not soo sure Id want to be wearing a Southern Miss jersey on saturday. If this team had a chip on their shoulder at 13-0, they really better be out to prove something from here on out. Yes, Louisville visits the shoe Feb 21st. One positive from last night in my eyes. Robert Whaley is coming around. Ive been telling myself all day "Louisville is NOT 27 points better than Cincinnati"......Unfortunately I got to wait a month to find out if Im fooling myself.

I would have bet, But I didnt want to wait 2 years to recieve my winnings like it took me to get those CUSA Tournament beers :-) It did appear to be the Eric Hicks show. He's been showing signs of greatness here in the last month or so. I remember telling Roy about a week or so ago that I wasnt so sure the Cats wouldnt be better off with Hicks playing 20-30 minutes a game and Whaley's minutes going to about 10. Yes, He did travel on that breakaway, and he needs to get that 10-15ft jumper down. I agree on all accounts of Novack, there isnt a whole lot to him besides his love for threes. I was starting to wonder if he was ever going to miss last night. He does create on heck of a matchup problem, but what stinks (That was for thicks) is that Armein Kirkland is exactly the guy you would want guarding Novack, However he twisted his knee last week and didnt play. I have never been a fan of Merritt, the guy is softer than a cottonball. However, you look at his stat line last night, and then Maxiell's, I'll stop my usual Merritt bashing right there. I loved the recorded interview they played of Huggins in the final 10 minutes last night. Something like "I know our starting 5 isnt the best, theres alot that are better. But lets see if your 7-8 can beat our 10". I have been preaching that to Roy since the first game (He's probably sick of hearing it by now)....But if depth=Tournament success, this teams headed in the right direction. Thanks for the kind words, and good luck to the Billikens the rest of the way until Feb 25th. I predict that the Bills will be 19-5 going to Cincinnati!;-)

Never said it was ok, and in a way, I agree with you. However there is a big difference between smashing the little guys, and winning by 3-5 points on your home floor. Cincinnati still has OOC games vs Xavier and Wake to make up for the weak start.

If it isnt the one they call Taj who wears that nasty Billiken Hockey jersey (Whats with Hockey anyway? That ranks with Soccer in my book) Anyhow, I believe the last time you blessed this board with your early assessments of the Bearcats, they went on to win the next 20 games. If your counting, that will take UC into the 2nd round of the tournament from this point. Will history repeat itself? Truth is Taj, the Cats have had a weak OOC schedule, I wont argue that. But have you paid any attention to the scores at all? Valpo came the closest losing by 19. On average most of the games have been decided by 26. Dayton was ranked #23 at the time of their thrashing, And Clemson has climbed their way into the RPI top50. Now explain to me how Notre Dame was a better test for Marquette when Dayton has a better record, higher RPI, and tougher sos? By the way, as of right now, that Same Dayton team has a Higher RPI than Marquette. Given that will change once the game tips off tonight but still. Also, Marquette's sos is 46 spots LOWER than Cincy's. One last thing before I go, Yeah the Eagles lost those two games by a total of 14 points, but lets talk about their home games vs Valpo, Canisius and Sacred Heart which they won by a total of 13 points. Enjoy the game!

Yep, My father had season tickets for a local HS Muncie Central (8 time state champs) back in 1988. I remember scalpers outside of the games during the post season run to the championship that year. It was amazing. However alot of basketball fans in Indiana have turned their head since the state went to a class format back in the mid 90's. I know the state championships attendance has fell quite a bit since then.

The Cats are off to a real nice start. Hopefully Whaley recovers from the scope quickly and returns to the player weve been hearing about for the last two years. One thing is for sure, This may be the deepest team Huggins has ever had. And James White is still to come. I dont qiute understand the St Louis area yet, I just moved here this year. Back where I come from (Ball State area), If Arizona came to town, the game would have been sold out in 5-10 minutes guaranteed. Given the arena only seats 11,500 but still. The day gametime rolled around scalpers would have been getting double face value for the seats. Back when I was in high school it happened when Michigan played Ball State, and Im sure it would have happened yesterday too. I guess its just a difference between Indiana hoops and St Louis hoops.

What can I say? Your team deserved that win today. Mr Bryant looked like some guy Roy's always calling "legend" on that floor today. I sat in one of Roy's seats today thinking to myself "Thank god the Bearcats dont have to deal with this place this year". I dont know where it would rank nationwide, but there cant possibly be a team that enjoys playing the Bills in the Savvis. Im sure Lute wont be pushing to come back anytime soon! If isnt isnt Taj raising Bearcat questions yet again. I believe the last time you did this they pulled off about 20 straight wins. The king (Whaley) is fine, Just had a little knee problem taken care of yesterday which explains his slow start. Chadd Moore and Nick Williams are doing a fine job at the point. The "Field/Tony" show has been a pleasant suprise. Bobbitt has done a complete 180 since last year. Max finally is getting the help he needs inside. Hes had two double-doubles thus far in the year. The best thing about this team is how darn deep they are. Huggins can pull the starting 5 and replace it with 5 guys who could start at alot of other schools. And just think....James White is still to come (December 20th) You know Taj, Its never to late to take off that ugly Billiken hockey jersey and throw on some of my red and black.... Go get them Wildcats tomorrow!

That this isnt the real Roy. For one, he has no computer access at this time. For two, this roy claims to have seen 2 exhibition games. Well that would be hard for Roy to do since I was sitting in his seat at the EA game, and he called me afterwards to see how it went.

Ive been posting on and off of this board for 4 years skip, and actually consider a few of the posters here as "friends" as we get together during the tournament and whatnot. Roy mentioned to me that your somewhat "new" to the board, and I have not been over since basketball season ended last year, sooo you probably have never seen me. IF I ever came over here and saw nice things posted about the bearcats, Id probably wonder what they feed the Billiken fans at the savvis. My reply to you was nothing more than my way of asking if you could come up with something better than that. The SOB line was in no way directed to hurt any feelings.
