  1. That is very good, although not surprising, news. What are Jarod's strengths? From what I've read, it sounds like he's a bit of a slasher with a good midrange game, but needs to work on his three-point shot. Is that accurate? Will he be a 2 or a 3 (in your best estimation)? 2. Anyone think "Pretty Q" is ready to take over his alma mater yet? I'm sure he's #1 on their list! "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." Official Billikens.com sponsor of Andrew Latimer
  3. I totally agree with you Billikan. I can't imagine any time when there was more excitement around Billiken basketball. There's plenty off hoopla when it comes to the new recruits, but when you combine that with the new arena on the horizon and a new AD, I must say it probably couldn't get much better. I believe the best days are yet to come and we will be a force for many years! "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 4. This isn't earth shattering, but I thought some people might find it interesting that SEMO will no longer be known as the Indians, as per the AP wire. After being known as the Indians for over 80 years they will now be known as the Redhawks starting in the spring semester of 2005. I guess Marquette's not the only school that was forced to change. Too bad the schools never change to good names. It seems they always change to some odd colored bird, ala Golden Eagles and Redhawks. I wonder how long until Florida State has to change? 5. Ok, let's have some fun since it's the offseason and compare all of our new area recruits. For all the people who have seen our recruits play in high school, between Polk, Liddell, Lisch, and Meyer who's the.... best shooter (3-point and free throws)? best defender? best slasher? best finisher? best leaper? best leader? Some people might not find this interesting, but I do so feel free to answer. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 6. Lawrence sounds like a decent player, but I doubt he'd be able to play over Tommie or Luke. Besides, our biggest need is obviously big men. I think we have enough solid guards/wings that we wouldn't have to worry about not getting this one. We already got the #1 player in Stl anyway in Lisch. 7. A quality #4 is definitely the biggest whole on the team right now, but I have a good feeling Brad will be able to land one. If we win like we should and go to "the Dance" then it'll be even easier to get one. I also like the idea of Tommie helping SLU recruit on the prep school circuit. Let's hope he makes friends with a couple bigs next year. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." 8. You're right Thicks. My math was off. Tommie and Jarod would play together for three years, instead of two. I would think having Polk, Lisch, Liddell, and Leonard all in the line-up together would be pretty fun to watch, but I'm sure Brad wouldn't want quite that many guards/small forwards on the floor. I definitely agree Jarod is our next critical local recruit though. Having his dad being a former Bill definitely can't hurt. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 9. You gotta like the fact that he says he likes Saint Louis A LOT! I hope he follows in his dad's footsteps and can help take SLU to the next level. Judging by his size, it sounds like he could be Tommie's back-up for two years and then be a big star for us when Liddell graduates. 10. Not surprising, but still great news to hear. I think Tommie will be here in 2005 since he likes Brad so much and him and Dwayne have become great friends. I think 2005 (and possibly even 2004) will be a great year for Billiken basketball! "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 11. I would agree with those rankings. Although I definitely expect Brad to jump over all of them and be #1 in a few years. Hopefully by his name in the future you'll be able to put numerous NCAA Tourney appearances, a conference title or two, and instrumental in getting an on-campus arena. 12. What number was Jessie? I think it would be neat if Jarod developed into a solid D-1 prospect, came to SLU, and got to wear his daddy's number. Does anyone think this kid can develop into a really good player or just a role player on the college level? I know it's kinda hard to tell since he's only a soph, but it's fun to play "Nostra Domas" sometimes. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 13. According to Hoop Scoop, next year's recruiting class is #128 in the country. I couldn't believe it when I saw it! I thought we'd at least be in the Top 50 somewhere. It's not 100% accurate though because it doesn't mention Alexander or Nebourne. I still have a hard time believing that a class with just Liddell, Polk, and Meyer is only #128. I guess it just shows you that those rankings mean nothing and they play the games for a reason. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 14. I understand what you're saying Thicks, but MU has struggled due to the abilities of their coach, not because of lack of talent. Lorenzo is a good game coach, imo, but he never landed any "big-time recruits." The best recruit he probably got talent-wise was Edwin. I would think if there was that much scandal going on at West Pine we would have gotten more talent than Seyfert and Varner. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 15. I believe you can go to www.slubillikens.com and get a general idea. Just click on the online store link and it has a few things they offer in the store. 16. I know people are tired of all the Mizzou stuff on our board (as am I), but I had to post this! I guess most MU fans think SLU cheated in the Romar & Dollar days since they got caught at Washington. I can understand their reasoning in this, but if we cheated, don't you think we would have gotten better players under the Lorenzo regime???!!! http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/missouri-...message=1538397 "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 17. Hey now, no ripping on country music! Some of us make a living spinning those country records. Besides Billikens_Fanatic, I know for a fact you've had meals paid for with "country music money"! How's that make you feel???!!! Enough of that though, congrats to Dwayne and Luke. I'm proud to call them Billikens! "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 18. I'm at work right now and this just came across of the wire... USF NAMES FINALISTS (TAMPA, FLORIDA-AP) -- SOUTH FLORIDA NAMED TWO FINALISTS TODAY IN ITS SEARCH TO REPLACE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR LEE ROY SELMON. IN THE RUNNING ARE SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY'S ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, DOUG WOOLARD, AND VIRGINIA ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR JON OLIVER. SELMON, WHO STARRED AT OKLAHOMA, STEPPED DOWN IN LATE FEBRUARY CITING UNSPECIFIED HEALTH CONCERNS. THE FORMER TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS DEFENSIVE END WILL REMAIN WITH SOUTH FLORIDA AS ITS CHIEF ATHLETIC FUND-RAISER. SCHOOL PRESIDENT JUDY GENSHAFT WILL TALK INDIVIDUALLY WITH MEMBERS OF THE SEARCH COMMITTEE AND THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT BEFORE NAMING SELMON'S SUCCESSOR. 19. With all this excitement with Lisch and some special days up ahead for our Bills, it seems this has become overlooked. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...+S.+Florida+job Looks like Woolard might be headed to S. Florida and the Big East. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." 20. Mugsy Bogues could dunk at 5'3"? Are you sure you're not thinking of Spud Webb? He won the NBA slam dunk contest around 1990 at only 5'7". I don't remember ever seeing Mugsy touch the rim though. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." 21. Thanks p diddy! Love all of your inside scoops! If anyone can get any info on these guys, it would be great. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 22. about Lisch verballing to SLU... Illinois: http://mb11.theinsiders.com/fillinoisinsid...cID=22166.topic Missouri: http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/missouri-...message=1513726 http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/missouri-...message=1513885 I'm definitely not trying to get a SLU/MU debate started, but I thought people would find it interesting what some of the local schools thought. I think it's very interesting that the Illini think they have a good shot at Tommie now. Guess they don't know about the close friendship of him and Polk and the fact that him and Lisch have even become friends (as per Roy's source). What a great time to be a Billiken! "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." Official Billikens.com sponsor of Andrew Latimer
  23. Thanks David. I wasn't sure if we were talking about using the McClain scholarship or Tommie's. I'm sure Tommie would understand if we signed another swingman. Besides, if we sign a juco player, he and Tommie would only have to compete for playing time for one year. If we can get Washington (or a player like him), then Tommie and Lisch the next year, this team could be good enough to be "tourney bound" for quite a while! 24. Brad says that he won't fill Tommie's spot if he goes to prep school, does that still mean we're going after Washington? Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. 25. Did he mentioned who else was after him? He sounds like he could be a nice replacement for Tommie. "Praises we sing, to you our alma mater, Praise to the white and blue. Our hymn shall ring, in tribute strong to you, We hail Saint Louis U." Official Billikens.com sponsor of Andrew Latimer
