  1. Just read that K-State gave Kansas a battle in Lawrence and lost by six. So maybe that will make you feel a little better about things.
  2. Thanks Schasz for the link. I clicked on the T-Shirt link and it comes up with David Nark as the winner. Is that our David? Dick Vitale one night justified those 6th place finishes by stating it was because the Big 12 was so tough. I will agree it is a tough conference but maybe those finishes have to do with coaching abilities. Go Bills!!!
  3. Howard Jackson and Ted Mimlitz were both southpaws. Don't think Barentine was.
  4. FYI. Stuttgart 80-83 and Wiesbaden 86-89. Wouldn't it had been great to have the internet capabilities and this board during that time. A friend, would scan the Post every morning and cut out all Billiken articles and mail me a "Billiken Update" a couple times a week. Trying to get the scores of Billiken games through the Stars and Stripes would be a two day wait. Go Bills!
  5. I don't enjoy listening to Ramsey broadcast a game. I have a hard time figuring out what is going on. He seems to use the same voice no matter who scores. Earl is really good with his comments and I feel pretty comfortable that he is shooting straight. I also heard the comments by the announcers. On a side note, saw SMS-Creighton game. SMS gave them all they could handle and I didn't think they had such a terrible team, so maybe we shouldn't be down too much on that loss.
  6. From what I remember reading in the paper, Gibby pulled out in front of someone who in turned got in front of him and slammed on his brakes causing Gibby to do the same. He then followed him and when the guy he was following stopped for gas, Gibby threw him a high hard one and they ended up per one witness rolling around on the ground at the gas station. The gas station was several miles from where the original incident started. Whenever anyone comes to town, I point out the gas station and jokingly remark there is a little sign there indicating where the fight occurred. Anyways, every year Gibby puts on a celebrity golf tournament raising money for charities. I attend it and it gives me a chance to see all those old great ballplayers from the past up close. I believe Gibby is quite proud of what he achieves with this tournment.
  7. slu72. I was at the Notre Dame game in 70 also. That was one of the best games I remember seeing. However I can only remember a few things about the game. Didn't the Bills continually beat the ND press by Rogers passing over the press to a breaking Jimmy Irving? Didn't Stallworth hold Carr to about 12 points below his average. He scored 24 points while averaging 36. And didn't Carr score that winning basket with about 6 seconds left. It was one of those almost games that the Bills had for about 25 years however I think that is over now as they have beaten some very good quality opponents over the last several years. Thanks. One other thing about that game. Somehow I believe the Freshman team played before the game led by Charlie Reese and Steve Dangos.
  8. 1971 Belleville East grad. Became avid basketball fan in 1966 when Belleville captured third in state tournament. Then became Billiken fan when Joe Wiley chose SLU. Was a basketball manager for two years for Belleville East. Entered Air Force in 1972, after my draft lottery number came up as number 9. Stayed in Air Force until 1995 and remained in Omaha. Now work as a Computer System Administrator. Make it down for at least one Billiken game per winter. Son attends Creighton. Had a late friend who would mail me Post Dispatch clippings of Billiken articles whenever I was overseas or out of the St Louis area. Still have most of those clippings. Still play in a Basketball league but it gets harder every year to get up and down the court.
  9. Every year, here in Omaha, everyone is just waiting for Dana Altman to jump to that next level and he hasn't yet. So maybe Brad will be like him.
  10. Thanks for all your hard work with the board. Maybe SLU can start scheduling GW. Best of luck to you.
  11. I've seen Morris play and he is a true point guard looking to distribute the ball. He had a couple of 20 point games this year. I was told that in these games they let him shoot and he scored. I believe he has a better outside shot than Pulley had but probably didn't score off the penetration like Pulley could (like Tulane game). Do you agree somewhat tseugnekillib since you've seen Morris play?
