  1. This is exhibit 1,152 debunking the myth about political discussions being at the root of problems on the board. That theory was about as credible as W... nevermind.
  2. So let me get this straight. You are saying "political correctness" is the greatest threat to the US? If it's just a case of people being thin-skinned, how is that a threat? To me a greater threat is the way that those who voiced dissent to the War were treated. The lenghts the decider and his cronies have gone through to stifle dissenting opinion is appaling. Debate is not even welcome. That's a greater threat to the American way of life. The decider and Arnold shouldn't be so "thin-skinned" that people are criticizing their choice of words, right?
  3. >Completely independent of this topic, I've been telling my >friends for years that "political correctness" is going to >be the downfall of our nation. WOW! With all that is going on in this country, it's "political correctness" that is our biggest threat?!?! So slavery, the Civil War, two World Wars, the Vietnam War and the decider's bungled adventure in Iraq won't lead to the downfall of this country, but political correctness (whatever that means) will???
  4. You called me one of the original members of the "billikenboard bullies." This is what you said about the "bullies" to that Mizzou guy who you wanted to provide your own unique interpretation of board history too... Keep some things in mind about the group of billikenboard bullies that used to pretty much run this board: 1. It's always the refs' fault when SLU loses 2. All local media has it in for SLU 100% of the time 3. The bullies dislike mizzou and will accuse anybody who disagrees with them on any topic a "mizzou fan". Kind of like the witch trial in Holy Grail. Show me where I've done any those things?
  5. I could care less about Illinois. I've never lived there and never been a fan. Please provide links if there are so many of them. Why would I deny it anyway? Please name the other board bullies? If I'm one, please show where I blamed the refs or the media.
  6. >I did miss that. You are correct. I don't know what you're >trying to conclude from that, but I never said any of those >things were unique to SLU. They are simply characteristics >of the board bullies. Since you are a charter member of the >board bullies, I thought you might take that as a >compliment. Also, I don't really see how that comment is >anti-SLU. I could make the point to take it to the >tigerboard, if that's what you mean. > >Take it to the tigerboard! > >There have been many officiating threads on here and dozens >of complaints about the Post. If you can't admit that >you're either extremely confused or just lying even more ... >probably both. > >I don't see how I was making nice with anybody from mizzou >either, mentioning that several of their fans came on the >board acting like complete jerks, kind of the way you act >99% of the time. > >If we want to get into making nice with fans from other >teams, I could write pages about the Cincy bootlicking. I >could even mention your great love for the illini. You've >made too many posts to count talking about how wonderful >they are. I really get sick of people like you writing love >notes about cheating state univeristites like mizzou and >illinois that are too chicken to play SLU. > >It's fun to watch bullies like you put when they don't get >their way. I'm one of the board bullies? hahaha! I didn't realize you had such thin skin. So that means I've complained about the refs? I've complained about the PD? Please provide links. Your lies are getting more ridiculous. Who are the other "board bullies"? Here's another gem. "I could even mention your great love for the illini. You've made too many posts to count talking about how wonderful they are." WTF? Please provide examples. Then it just gets really strange, "I really get sick of people like you writing love notes about cheating state univeristites like mizzou and illinois that are too chicken to play SLU." In the absence of Ragincajun and joey fluegel, you've become the board laughingstock. Courtside hit the nail on the head when he called you a troll.
  7. The bizarre comment is bizarre. Bernie should take a look at this board. There are a lot of people upset.
  8. Kevin was so busy making nice with Mizzou fans while lecturing SLU fans that I guess he missed this little gem from MUTGR, "the post-dispatch has had certain elements that have been out to get Mizzou for years." Wow, I thought thinking the media was out to get us was a uniquely SLU thing? SLU fans blaming the refs? I don't see that being an epidemic on this board, not even from the kool aid crew. You're just making up stuff again. If you want to talk about blaming refs, you should have heard the Mizzou football coach crying about it after one of their losses this year. His sour grapes whining was even mocked by many in the national media. Oh wait, maybe the media really is out to get them. hahaha!
  9. >Your question is equal to what if we won one more road game >and one more home game (for RPI calculation, it does not >matter who you beat in particular). Anyway, recalculating >today's RPI (currently ranked 73rd) with one more home win >(changing 1.4 losses to .6 wins) and one more road win >(changing .6 losses to 1.4 wins) rejiggers SLU's >home/away/neut adjusted win percentage to .7311. > >That coupled with our SOS (currently .5466 but it will go >down a bit before the season ends) would make our >hypothetical current RPI .5927 which would slide SLU into >42nd (a 31 position jump). Wow! That makes me sick. If we win those two games we should have won and grab one more either Houston (road) or Temple, we'd be right in the hunt for an at-large bid. But woulda, shoulda, coulda, the fact that we didn't take care of business in these winnable games is the reason a lot of people are upset that a promising season has become disappointment.
  10. Lowry said there strategy is to get kids early, before the bigger programs get in on them. It seems to work well for them. It seems like Brad waits too long.
  11. kevin sure is going to great lengths to defend the honor of Mizzou fans and make sure they get a fair shake. He even started a thread about it.
  12. The Mizzou troll element has subsided in recent years. It's amazing what a few scandals and disappointing seasons has done. They don't come around as much, so it's not as big of an issue.
  13. Can somebody who has seen him play provide a report?
  14. LOL! Pdiddy just gave phan a beat down. Oooh, I just can't figure out why Mizzou fans are so disliked on this board?!?!
  15. >Since when did questioning the direction of the program make >you anti-SLU? I find it ludicrous that some people become so >upset when others call out the flaws of the program and >label them "idiots." It is juvenile and utterly annoying. >For most of the people who scan this board, we are die hard >bills fans. That will probably never change, but that >doesn't mean we aren't flustered and fed up. If some one >objects to the opinion of the Chosen Few, they are >automatically shunned and called idiots. Grow up people, >differeing opinions is what makes this board great. Its >when the name calling starts and people refuse to accept the >ideas of others that hurts the overall quality of this >board. > >I tend to think that some people on this board forget that >it is precisely that, A MESSAGE BOARD. Show me a message >board where everyone agrees, and I will show you a message >board that is boring and not worth going too. What makes it >so wrong for people to have different opinions? It doesn't >make you "hate the program" when you question what is >happening. Its moronic to assume that everyone is always >doing the right thing. Question, who here has always been >completely satisfied with any sports team they watch? People >make mistakes, that is fine, it is when people refuse to >admit mistakes and keep beating the same drum ( moytoy- much >like President Bush in Iraq ) that starts to cause >problems. Why are some people here so willing to put their >blind trust in Brad "Good, I didn't want you to come here >anyway" Soderberg? Face it people, its NOT WORKING. This is >one of the most disappointing seasons in Billiken history >and people are still offering excuses after excuses just >repeating the same answers. Yet, when someone comes along >with a "radical" new idea, they try to beat them down and >show them the door. I suggest to all who aren't willing to >listen, clean out your ears, stop beating your drums, and >listen to some fresh new voices. The same thing happened when we allowed current events debates here. Those of us who recognized early that our Iraq policy was misguided and would likely lead to civil war and a strengthening of Iran were dismissed as "Hate America first." When it started becoming obvious that we were correct, rather than continue reasonable debate, all current events topics were banned from discussion. Some of the same stifling has gone on with the basketball debate. I voiced concerns about Soderberg's recruiting last year and was often dismissed. Now that those deficiencies have cost us this year and people are voicing disappointment in this season, the Brad loyalists are getting upset. It seems some people are "love Brad first". I am love the "Billikens first" which means that if Brad is not the best guy for the job, he needs to go. I'm willing to give him a little more time and am hoping he can do it, but I have my doubts about his recruiting. I am a love America first which means to me that I respect our great tradition of allowing healthy debate whether it is current events or basketball. I guess sadly, the stifling of debate we see on the board isn't much different than what we've gotten out of the "decider" and his cronies.
  16. There have been more fans of Mizzou visit this board than fans of any other program. For a group of fans who typically say they don't care about us, they sure come over here a lot to seek our approval. And the overwhelming majority of them have been a-holes - joey fluegel, cheesycow, vanillagorilla, etc. I don't remember kevin confronting the Mizzou whack jobs, but this isn't the first time he's been delusional. A lot of us did and they got what they deserved. I would expect the same treatment if SLU fans would visit a Mizzou board to stir it up. You seem like a reasonable fella and you will be treated fine, just like MUTGR has over the years. I didn't grow up in this area and when I moved here, I could never understand the level of arrogance conveyed by Mizzou fans I ran across. I never remembered Mizzou being regarded as a national power in basketball or football when I was growing up, yet that's how they regarded their program. It's a mediocre BCS program. Nothing wrong with rooting for your team, but don't act like it's more than it is. They reminded me of Alabama football fans, only without the history of success. I'm not saying SLU is a powerhouse program either, but I think the overwhelming majority of SLU fans understand that. When SLU played Mizzou a few years ago three years in a row, the condescending way they treated us was pathetic. We beat them one game and took them to the wire in the other two, yet most of their fans act like we don't belong on the same court with them. After those three games, they became too scared to play us again. The topic of Mizzou usually doesn't come up much here unless one of their fans brings it up.
  17. >Here is a good starting list for the super negative crowd.. > >Billsboy >Hardball >Moytoy >SLUser >canadian >Vtime >Boafdfan >Billiphan > >There are a number of others but this group repeatedly posts >negative posts and attacks anyone who is viewed as part of >the "kool aid" crew--meaning anyone who sees anything >positive in Billikenland. The only way to satisfy them is if >you attack and insult the coach and blast the team and the >players. Billikan, take a deep breathe. To put moytoy in this group is ridiculous. He appears to be a good SLU fan who is just disappointed that the team isn't living up to some of the high expectations. As for some of the others, some of these trolls can easily be dismissed. Some just like to stir up crap, while others aren't even SLU fans. Billsboy and Hardball aren't SLU fans. Canadian appears to be Metz, one of his alteregos or lackeys, who just stirs up crap. VTime has actually said some positive things about SLU. His agenda is simply promoting local players. Phan and his alter-ego or sidekick boardfan is just another Mizloser troll. He's not here to talk basketball. Nobody has ever taken him seriously. It should be easy to dismiss most of the people on your list and ignore them. Some of them don't want to see SLU do well because they are not fans. It happens on every board. People like moytoy, nark, 72, and Drew have shown themselves to be good, passionate fans who want to see the program do well. They tend to be critical because they think the program is capable of being better. There's nothing wrong with that.
  18. >The super negative idiots have taken over the board and >basically ruined it for those of us who have a positive view >of Billiken basketball. Anyone who posts that he is >frustrated by all of the negative posts when we have won 15 >games and beaten some good teams is told to leave the board. >This is no longer a board of Billiken fans who want to >exchange ideas. It is a love fest of negativity and anyone >who feel in any way positive need not participate. Who are the super negative idiots who have taken over the board? Let's name names? This board can usually police itself pretty well. It's nice to know that at least the myth about political discussion ruining this board has been debunked.
  19. Just take a second to read the board. It sounds like you already know what is going on.
  20. Without Roy, phan's life will have even less meaning. At least he's got his new sidekick/alter ego boardfan to talk with now.
  21. We have a better chance of landing good players by getting them early, before they bloom and the bigger programs get in on them. Soderberg's strategyof continually waiting until the spring is not working. Lowery is getting the better of him.
  22. >MizzouAlum, You are right on. I grew up a big tiger fan and >attended Mizzou. I started paying attention to SLU when >spoon arrived. I loved Norm and supported the hiring of Q. >The last 3 years under coach Q were so bad, I started paying >more attention to the Bills. This season I purchased season >tickets. I also love attending the MVC tourney. I am also >a big Duke fan. I am just a huge college hoops fan. I see >no reason everyone in STL shouldn't support Mizzou and SLU. >The hatred toward the tigers on this board makes it easier >for me when the Bills lose. I take some satisfaction in the >fact that the likes of Roy, Skip and Rich are pissed off. >Although I always root for SLU, the nuckle heads on this >board won't allow me to be a true fan. I would love to see >the bills win a national title, but I also would enjoy >making fun of the clowns on this board during a winless >season. You guys have been able to pi$$ off another Mizloser who is stalking you. Good job guys! Doesn't boardfan fight the exact same causes as Billiphan? Phan was so inept, I guess he had to call in reinforcements.
  23. >Rich, what's the deal with the name calling? is it wrong >some people feel that Brad is doing a poor job? why are >they idiots? Some people want more than just AVERAGE. you >are on the other hand, are ok with Average. why are people >that believe in this team succeeding with a new coach >idiots? > >You all often forget this is an internet message board....a >place to go to post your opinion about SLU basketball. Is >Larry an idiot cause he has a different opinion than yours? > >One question for you...Are you ok with Average? > I believe Rich is referring to SalukiExpress who is posing as a SLU fan and doing a poor job at it. I guess if I had to live in Southern Illinois, I might also play make believe and try to act like I lived somewhere else.
  24. Agreed Rich. I originally gave the SalukiExpress fraud a beat down and it was deleted. I put another one up there, so try it again.
  25. Well said. It seems like it would be easier and much more in tune with reality to simply admit when a previous opinion you held was proven to be wrong. I guess when the "decider" can't even change his mind or own up to mistakes, it is probably asking too much to expect average Joe citizen to do that.
