  1. And they beat UCLA at their place before the Bruins imploded. Hope there's no correlation there, ie lose to LMU lose your season.
  2. Yeah, it is nice being ranked until Monday, but it's always supposed to be about the next game. The rankings will take care of themselves. Loyola's the culprit here. They beat us because 1.) they've got talent, 2.) they were exceptionally lucky on some of those 1 second shots 3.) and we didn't play like we did the previous 4 games. I thought we might be in trouble after about the 4th straight turnover after getting up by 12.
  3. Jeez, you would have thought a guy who loves statues of Dolphins would have been all over a statue of the greatest Billiken player and supporter of all time. Contact the Cooks they can get 'er done.
  4. Well, the good news is we'll still be there until next Monday. When you look at them the shakeups will come from 20 on down. Now Vandy's got a tough road since they play Louisville which could easily drop them to 5-3. 2 schools receiving votes and knocking on the door, Creighton and San Diego St, play one another tonite. Winner gets in and loser remains in votes category? Illinois at 7-0 maybe makes a move up into the poll. One thing we've got going for us is we've defeated two teams in the receiving votes category; UW (4-1) and Nova (4-2), so maybe they can't leapfrog us if we keep winning at least thru N.Mex. My guess is those last 5 or 6 spots will remain very fluid over the next 4 weeks. I think we can scooch our way back in with some convincing Ws. Also, am hoping a lot of the teams slightly above us and below us are going to start playing some worthier competition like we did early and start racking up some Ls. ExpectHarvard to get in as long as they remain undefeated.
  5. Puhleeze. It's a little late for you to be seeking redemption.
  6. Coto's girlfriend's mother, I belive it was Redbird, was also a poster. She appears from time to time. And let's not forget Thompson's brother, the great defender, was here for awhile. And Tyler Griffey's dad as well. Thought for sure that meant TG was gonna be a Billiken. Alas, not to be.
  7. Tentative appearance at the Temple game.
  8. Sirs, please come down of the ledge. It was only one game!
  9. Soooo, that's the infamous Metz? I thought he was living in TX? Was he cloned or home visiting Mom in Peoria?
  10. Easy, NH, you're talking about a guy who is Mr. Billiken Ball. I feel his pain, but am totally surprised by his apocalyptic take on this one game. Normally, he'd be the guy saying chill, it's one friggin' game. I'm guessing our brief trip to the mountain top, #23 ranking, has left Billikan a little oxygen deprived. He'll come to his senses soon enough and accept this L for what it was; a road loss to a pretty good team that got damnably lucky last night.
  11. Good post, bonwich. The best way to clean the pallete is with a W over Portland. Am sure these kids know what last night did to them and it hurts. I expect they'll be ready to tattoo pelicans all over Portland come Saturday night. My main gripe is with the AD for keeping them on the road for 8 straight days. There was really no good reason to play this game as we don't have any LA kids on the roster that needed to play in front of Mom, Dad, Aunt Gladys and Uncle Henry. They'll learn from it and move forward.
  12. If we take care of business at home like we should and somehow find a way to beat NM at the pit, we'll be back in the rankings just like that. Yeah, it wasn't a well played game, but give LMU some credit, Billikan. They were juiced to beat their second ranked foe and all the stars aligned for them. Especially on some of the shots they made last night when there was a nano second left on the shot clock. The one thing our guys will hopefully take from this game is that there are a lot of athletic teams out there and it's going to take them playing maximum smart ball to beat them. Like we did in Anaheim. Understand, this one hurts, Billikan, but you've been such a staunch supporter of and believer in Billiken hoops that I'm surprised you'd be this upset over one early season loss. Now, if this game was at home against X for the conference lead, I'd be po'd too as we gifted LMU this game.
  13. I don't know who he's referring to in the original post, but for the most part our posters know we're dealing w/ the egos of young men, and their parents. We are a pretty kind and tolerant bunch for the most part. One loss is not going to make or break this season. It's a marathon and you're going to suffer a few cramps along the way. This was one of them. Let's not forget we just won a major holiday tourney in pretty impressive fashion and earned a national ranking in the process. We'll get back there after a stretch of good home cooking and sleeping in their own beds. So stash the worry beads and rosarys and enjoy the rest of the ride. And more than anything last night, we were done in by LMU players throwing down some real prayer shots.
  14. This is not a bridge jumper by any means. We never looked sharp or focused like we did in Anaheim. And the press clippings are bound to sneak in the old noggin making you think you can beat anyone just by showing up. Obviously we didn't look crisp, especially in that run after we got up by 12 and then promptly gave LMU 5 early Xmas gifts. But what really sealed our fate was in like the last 8 minutes when the D got the shot clock down to 34 and that kid sent up two prayers that went in. It was almost as if God was saying, you're not there yet, Bills, but how'd you like brief visit to the mountain top? Learn from this is all you can do. Anyone else a little disappointed KM didn't just take it over in the last 4 or 5 minutes? He's done it before, and was kind of expecting him to all of a sudden take charge last night. Didn't happen either. And, Taj, I'm not so sure 8 days on the road is such a good idea. If you've ever traveled for business, you know that on a long trip you're worn out at the end and not at the top of your game. Hotel living and eating rich food every night can become a real drag. Heck, you even begin to miss the little woman a bit.
  15. No crying. No excuses. We're still the team that laid some whup a** on the BCS'ers. Tough to win on the road especially after 3 straight games. Remember Carleton? Well we just got beat by Carleton, California. And they made some of the most crap shots I've seen in a long time. As for us, we did not take care of the ball like we have been. TO's beat us tonite. Was a little disappointed KM didn't take over the game w/ about 6 minutes left. Thought that would be the case.
  16. Wake up call. You want to be ranked teams are coming after you. But LMU just put up some crap and it went in! Alright go back under the radar and rip off about 7 w's in a row.
  17. C'mon, man, I've never seen so many sh** shots made ever!
  18. These guys are unconscious tonite. I mean LMU. They are hitting some wild ass shots.
  19. Ok, this is what happens when you're ranked. Everyone wants a piece of you. We're gonna win.
  20. You're right, they don't. I gotta go back to the LMU voice.
  21. I got it figured out. Can watch the stream, but listen to the Rammer. All will be right with the world now. Can you imagine the Rammer at the NCAA's! We're taking the Lions down.
