It is amazing to see Floyd going to bat for a De Smet guy given the history of that rivalry over the years.
I just think he's doing it to f**** with SLU. From the old days he never liked SLU.

No ...this is considered a neutral game. In order to be considered a home game you have to play in the venue 3 times in a season. An extreme example of this would be if The Bills would play at The Dome at America's Center (the old Rams hangout) or the Enterprise Center (Blues) it would also be considered a neutral court. The "advantage" has to do with different sight lines, a player being "more comfortable" at home , etc. This is not some algorithm the computer invented but is a rule that the NCAA came up with for March Madness in the 1980s. The rule was put into place to prevent a team in the first 2 rounds from gaining home field advantage. Using the hypothetical from above in a real life example...The first 2 rounds of the 2026 NCAA tourney will be held at the Enterprise Center. When The Bills get their Dance ticket with CJS they will be able to play at the Enterprise Center because they will not have played a game there during the season...If they even played 1 game at the EC, the Bills would have to be put in a different venue ...because after they beat UConn in game 1 , the second game against the Illini would be considered game 3 at the EC and therefore not allowed to be played at that venue.
How would they handle Dayton if they could only qualify for a play-in game?

This slots him in as the 59th highest paid college basketball coach. Seems REALLY low for a blue blood-adjacent program.
The perks may put Kelsey's overall salary way over the top. Things like a radio show (is Louisville a TV show?). Product endorsements. Recall Spoon had a bunch> Nextall phones, My Olive pickles, Lou Fusz, SLUCare, etc.. Did Ford get any of those?

When Loyola beat Dayton this year, it was the fist time they beat a ranked opponent at home since 1986.
Yea, but they beat ranked opponents during Porter's NCAA runs. Tennessee in 2018 & Illinois in 2021. Maybe even more.

Looking thru some old emails, found some cuts previewing the SLU/Memphis NCAA Tourney game with Majerus
clip 1 from Majerus

Majerus had game prep down to the smallest of detail. Knowing opponent player every strength and weakness. Lord I miss that and hope we get that back with a new coach.

I am afraid to look

I see that Oakland-UK game killed most everyone's bracket. Way to go Cal.

We can use a Cinderella team in the A-10. Go Dukes!

I liked Pesty, always felt he kept a lid on things. Especially after the last decade of Bondi's tenure with all the drama (Law School, Public Health program, etc..). Some of the MBB issues that came up. The growth of the endowment is commendable.

All universities are having problems but here is one from our sister institutions.

Okay, since we know the brackets, time for some bracketology!
Suspect Steve will have the bracket contest up soon.

Slaten said if hypothetically Ahearn had been the coach in 2004 the Billikens starting lineup would have included Mckinney, David Lee, and Troy at the 2. Troy was a decent D-2 player nothing more. They both believe he was robbed of a possible NBA career.
Saw him the opening night of the Chaifetz when we played UMSL. Recall Lisch eating his lunch.

Duquesne hasn't made the Tourney since 1977. It would be a good story for the A10 if they were to win.
Also isn't Dambrot packing it in and retiring next year? Be a nice send off.

I’m not so sure schools will be knocking on his door unless it’s really a low mid. P6’s couldn’t stand their fans outcry if a biggie hired him. It’s either a downgrade or the broadcast booth.
A lot of these coaches in Ford situation will take an assistant job. Being that recruiting not what it used to be or his inability to develop players, he may have tough time in that market.
Maybe he's on the phone with his buddy Pitino hoping for a job at St John's.

I mentioned this in earlier post Sodie went from Assoc Coach at VA to Director of Scouting. With the portal this is one important position & replacing a recruiter on the staff. Kind of making someone like Tate present role obsolete.
Responsibilities would include trying to identify potential transfer candidates prior to declaring to get the earliest jump on them when they do declare, especially those in the lower major schools, review game tapes on them to ascertain if they are any good & would they fit in to your system-both in attitude & skill, & what is it going to cost you in NIL.
It's whole new ball game, but it is what is.

Agreed. He played well at MB, but sparingly.
He’s a freaking keeper. He’s strong, shoots the 3, and savvy. If he plays down the stretch he may stay.
I hope so, I think he's a keeper also. Cucric and Thames are my 2 favorites for staying.
If, I still think a big if, we can get a coach that is strong on developing, he can improve his defensive skills he be a nice player for us his Jr & Sr year.
Again, lets hope!

.611 win% and 4th place in east isn't too bad this year!
I agree, this year has been good, will see. They broken my heart many a times.
I go back 50 plus years to the Reed/Frazier/DeBusschere/Bradley/Monroe-Barnett years and I can honestly say since then, 'it's hard being a Knicks fan".

The NBA sure has some horribly run franchises.
If your referring to Memphis, last few years they were actually pretty good.
2022-23 they were 51-31 (2nd place in the West)
2022-21 they were 56-26 (2nd best record in the NBA)
Wish my Knicks had season records like that.

Ha! I believe the last pre-game in Philly I attended and Majerus was the coach.

Detroit gave us my favorite NY Knick, Dave DeBusschere. Reminded me a lot of Conklin, a real beast.
And of course, gave us the 'early out', Spencer Haywood.
Miracles can happen, look at St Peter's from 2 years ago and Loyola from 5 years ago.

I guess this also disqualifies Dave Bliss.
We actually interviewed Bliss. A long time ago. It was when Spoon quit and we ended up hiring Romer.
Bliss was still with New Mexico. He turned us down and ended up at Baylor.

Mack was my 1st choice, then Schertz. Only thing was I never thought we would land Mack. Too pricey.
Probably figured with his pay-off from Louisville (why they went cheap on Kelsey), I don't need some huge salary in some pressure cooker.
Obviously, Mack selected lifestyle.
Happy with Schertz, think he will be fantastic coach for us.
BTW, Ahearn, never on my list, would have been insane.
