One dynamic is that these 3 players are effectively complete unknowns to the local community. None are local. One guy played just over a year when the program was completely nondescript, and the other 2 have never played a game here. If you suspend players no one knows , it doesn't create much news. By contrast, Kwamain and Willie had developed a following among local fans and media before they were suspended.

How can we deny the race issue? SLU is a mostly white, upper-middle class institution. This is the second time African-American male students from more challenging economic backgrounds are being accused of consensual issues by groups that likely include upper-middle class white girls. We know how the first situation played out with the wealthy white family pressuring for severe punishment. I don't think it is out of bounds to raise the race and fairness question.

Probably about 1000 people here. The middle section is about 5% full so I moved a section over with my 11 year old son so he could get even closer, and they kicked us out! Are you kidding me SLU!?!?!? #hardlyanyfansleft -
I think it would have less to do with the number of games and more to do with a "semester" suspension. I believe the semester is over this Friday, with the 1st game of the new semester taking place Saturday at Oregon State. I would imagine there is a possibility that we have a full roster for that game.

There is also this:

Fred Thatch during yesterday's game. There is a lot of strength and vertical apparent. He also hit 5/6 3 pointers.

I truly don't understand why this is taking so long. This is most akin to an internal investigation at a corporation when there are accusations of violations of corporate policies that may or may not arise to the level of criminal wrongdoing. I have had awareness of numerous such investigations, and the investigation and report usually takes weeks (or even days), not many months. Dragging out the investigation is not going to mitigate the potential liability of the university.

In case anyone missed it, Joe's memorial service is this Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King church in University City.

The easy answer is Stanford. It goes head to head with the Ivy schools on the academics and network, the weather is nice year-round in Palo Alto, and the athletes are revered. No brainer.

I combined them in an attempt to clean up the threads. We had multiple threads on new recruit signings, as well as multiple threads on Situation 2. I combined the two topics into 2 threads. I am not expecting the newly signed recruits to ask for a release because their threads were combined.

I would love to see rebounds added to the personal player stats. I know this data is available in real time because it is on the gametrackers.

I have to agree with Roy here. Hines is easily the best ball-handler among our currently eligible players, but he was getting torched defensively and his penetration often just gets him in trouble among the trees. Goodwin, Roby, and Bess are all capable of bringing up the ball against pressure without turning it over, but they exert a lot of energy in the effort and it doesn't set the offense well or punish the defense for pressing. We ultimately need Bishop or Graves for that purpose. Not having Adonys really creates a gap in our offensive options.

Aren't there seats directly behind those video boards? Do we have a new obstructed view ticket price ala Wrigley?

I was shocked and shaken up when I saw this terrible news this morning. Bonwich is the kind of guy that was supposed to live another 30+ years. I have known him for about two decades. We shared an educational lineage, we had ethnic commonality, and--of course--we shared a passion for Saint Louis University and Billiken basketball. We saw in each other in person several times a year, but we most often connected through this board and Facebook. Over the years, we have watched each other's families grow, and we have shared pictures, stories, and thoughts on life and the world. Bonwich truly had a passion for his family and for life. He loved to travel the world, he enjoyed great food and drink, and he always found a way to bring an upbeat, witty, and novel perspective to everything. His wife and beautiful girls will certainly miss him the most, but everyone who encountered Joe will miss him. He just made the world better.
