  1. According to pundits in the building, it’s a clean break. Out six weeks.
  2. It was a good win because different players stepped up and gave hope for the overall program at different times. Parker. Medley. Dalger. Thames. Hargrove. Zhang. Meadows. And roy is right, Jimerson did other things to help the team because he was getting mugged and will get mugged the rest of the year. From what we saw on parker's injury, it appears to be some sort of foot injury. Not a calf cramp. Not a sprained ankle. Cringing to think it might be a broken foot or bone fracture. Pure speculation but based on all items observed, foot injury seems to be the winner. Parker is the only guy able to manufacture a shot. Dalger seems to be second. Zhang had some nice play and looks very promising. Good to see Thames really step it up and show his roster spot is not a lost cause as seemed to be the case last year. We still run the mindless weave and end up wasting a whole lot of time in doing so. Unless Sincere has the ball at which point the weave is essentially over. And Jimerson continues to get mugged night after night. Just once I'd liek to see him drive and pull up for the jumper. Just once. In hindsight, Wyoming didn't have the talent nor the bench to stay with us. Kind of hard to fathom that given our roster.
  3. It's just a number with no relevance at this moment in time. You'd have to tally up all the non-football playing schools and all the comparative sports. No football. No hockey. No lacrosse.
  4. That's 'hero ball' ---- one of the very staples of the Ford attack scheme since he got here. Bess. Isabell. Perkins. Collins. Of the four, only Collins wasn't a finisher. I suspect that this season we will see that evolve into a Parker role because there is no one else in the mold described above to take it over. Jimerson is not a creator. Meadows is an unknown. The only other guy who might THINK this way is Hughes. But Larry is a jump shooter and not a to-the-basket guy.
  5. Nineteen goals in sixteen games (Blackburn doesn't count). Overall 7-4-5 (Blackburn doesn't count). This from the program once known as the UCLA of college soccer. Just not good enough. Maybe next year.
  6. Was at top secret meeting negotiating Big East entry (you heard it here first .... call me courtside).
  7. A win is a good thing. Noted on the plus side: speedy play, hustle, swarming rebounds, Zhang looked pretty good. On the bad side: I'm still confused as to just what our offense is supposed to do. When we run set plays after timeouts, we seem to do well. The rest seems to be a Chinese fire drill usually resulting in Parker going one-on-one (17 shots last night). Parker, Hughes and Hargrove commit dumb fouls and last night, so did Medley. We had 8 total assists last night --- Collins used to get that in a quarter. Hargrove did well against Leib -- made him look slow but tall. No van Bussell --- not even a minute or two. I don't think Ford is willing to play two pojects; until he overcomes that fear, development will be slow. Adding Magassa will just add another uniform to the bench; adding Ezewiro will relegate the freshmen to spectator status. You also saw the downside of our pressing defense last night in that our legs took the second half off and we could not score. Highmark talks about when the legs go so goes the shots and when you are essentially a jump shooting thing, well, there you go. This has the makings of being Sincere Parker's team but he's got to get smarter. I have never seen an intentional foul on the guy covering the shooter on a free throw. Medley is not an offensive option right now. Shades of Dwayne Polk but years left to develop. Attendance was listed at just over 5200. Likely a different game if Buford played. Forty-six total fouls called. Fouls and injuries showed just how lacing in depth we might be. We've lamented our lack of size, but losing Hughes and Meadows weith medley and Parker in foul trouble really showed a definite weakness in the overall roster. I think Curcic should have gotten a few spelling moments. Good FT shooting and decent FG shooting was nice but our FG% essentially stopped with 13 minutes to go. Nice to be heading to Myrtle at 3 and 0. Should be a few rows behind Ford for all three games in Myrtle. Up close and personal.
  8. meadows out for duration with back spasms.
  9. refs swallowed the whistle on a team that had 13 fouls in the de facto first quarter. announcers have no idea where meadows is.
  10. Sloppy time on the verge ..... and another team that makes threes like layups.
  11. Speed of play. No turnovers. Decent defense. Pushing the ball. Shooting whenever it's there. Swarming rebounding. Lots to like right now.
  12. If they clean up the fouls, they will make this a game. Good half. Wanna bet the whistles get swallowed for us.
  13. Hargrove vs. Lieb is going to be interesting ......
  14. So it doesn't matter who wins today between ODU and Georgetown as the ESPN site says that the four winners (including SLu and Penn State) will all gather "in a pod" to play the next round at State College, PA.
  15. Dayton loses to Northwestern in Chicago. Over on A10 Talk, they have an article that lists the Top 50 games in the A10 this year: Top 50 Most Important A10 MBB Non-Conference Games 2023 | A10 Talk Davidson against Maryland was #3 on that list; Dayton at Northwestern was #9. Duquesne vs. Charleston was #31. Our games include Drake (#22); NC State (#27) and Utah State (#44). #1 game is Mason at Tennessee followed by La Salle at Duke.
