  1. lance looked pretty good offensively. cant say anything about their defense since they sat in their zone the whole game. my memory tells me that lance was indeed considering slu, but not sure where he was on the totem pole with clarke.
  2. i dont know, i dont want to give the zebra's a chance to blow the whistle. so i dont want to body up too much. just enough to make them shoot a tough shot is my opinion. k state didnt do much right down the stretch and we didnt do much wrong. says a lot about team character and coaching imo.
  3. k state indeed hit a couple of prayers. the hayden kid hit a 3 from the corner in front of me that izik was in his face like crazy. i have no idea how he got it off let alone even see the basket. they had 3 tips that were just luck and should have been over the back. and billikan is correct that by not hitting some shots early, we let them play that damn zone to the end of the game. we got to hit the shots early or we will see that all year is my guess. anyone have a clue as to why kfns went off the air before we got the stats and play of the game? instead we are sent to espn network. more media disrespect. brad did a fantastic job the last 3 minutes to out coach the kstate coach imo. we did everything right imo. if you tell me before the game frericks gets shut down like he did and we still win i say no way. josh is becoming a stud folks. that last shot and the free throw are career change makers.
  4. i agree with pdiddy, i have no clue how umkc could have demolished that team that we played today. that was a nice team imo. i am thrilled with where we sit right now. i personally had us at 6-5 at this point. a lot of good signs happening imo. josh was the man at the end. wouldnt have figured that. our inside game shows signs of being decent, reggie is only the best outside shooter we have had in years. i like our chances going forward.
  5. ian is easily 270 and i wonder if he lbs he has added arent more cheeseburgers and fries rather than pure muscle! he didnt particularly look good today, but it was nice to see him get his feet wet and he didnt hurt us much. the reason the game was close was that frericks and izik looked more like the beginning of the season inside guys today vs what they were the last two games. to be fair though, kstate's inside guys were extremely athletic and the refs let them get away with the over the back stuff. if we could have hit a few more 3's early on, kstate might have junked that zone and played us straight up. the game would have been different. instead we got into a shooting match. i doubt that is what brad wanted.
  6. yes it would steve. i have already sent you the letter by e-mail. i do not want the info on the board. but you will see why i think we can be of importance. give those that have changed their addresses or "mistakenly" given you a wrong address a chance to send you the right address first then go ahead and send it. if you want to add to it or change it, no problems from me steve.
  7. folks, i will be sending this private e-mail out to board regulars tomorrow morning, so if you do not have your most current e-mail address registered with steve and want to read this, you need to send steve an e-mail so that he can change it or get your address to me to send it to you.
  8. i have some important billiken information i would like to share privately with the regulars here at billikens.com and i was going to e-mail that to each of the regulars, but i remember when we started your graduation gift drive, there are a lot of "wrong" emails out there. i looked under user menu for an avenue to change one's e-mail address, but i dont see it. does anyone that wants to make sure their correct e-mail address is on this system just have to e-mail that address to you and you make the change? that way when i click on a regular's email icon this message will go to the right place. i know for one, my e-mail address has changed as of december 1. so how do we make sure the correct address is there for the members to use?
  9. that is totally false. my mom-in-law has very little kitchen skills so that isnt possible. now the lovely anita is taking me on a 20th anniversary cruise in march (yeah, missing the cusa tourney for that) that may cause a few pounds to appear. i just dont understand why anita doesnt want to do the annual basketball trip in honor of the anniversary. it was good enough the last 10 years?
  10. the georgia tech game he was playing on what appeared to be a badly sprained ankle as well. he had on a brace that looked more like a splint for a severed leg than for playing basketball.
  11. drejaj plays madman defense every second he is in he game. he does a fine job of protecting the ball when he has it (how many times do any of you recall drejaj getting the ball stripped when dribbling the ball?) maybe his only downfall is his inconsistent shooting %. well he is only a sophomore. that is an aspect that should continue to improve as well as his confidence leading the team (see josh fisher over the last 4 years). i personally will be surprised to see drejaj not play monster minutes the last two seasons at slu. he might never sit out! :-)
  12. they were monitoring brandonn closely. i remember talking to angres in june and he expressed that brandon was short the needed course and was planning a visit to the juco to try to motivate brandon in his coursework. other than that, not sure what kind of alternatives they could have had ready. it is doubtful you could have found a quality player that was willing to wait until august to see if he was going to be needed by saint louis university.
  13. i think only izik hasnt performed up to the level i expected. frericks has exceeded my expectations and i am thrilled about that. otherwise, this is the billikens team i expected.
  14. i dont think anyone should be disappointed in darren clarke. the fact is out three guards are very very good. they can play with any set of guards in the country. georgia tech and arizona proved that. so darren's problem is he is stuck behind three deserving minute hogs. if darren wants pt, as 3 star indicated, he has to make himself an equal defender of drejaj. otherwise he will wait his turn.
  15. the juco transfer rule that went into effect this year bit him. before you just had to have the credits to graduate from the juco with your associates degree. now you have to also have enough transferable credits to you new school that will put you on pace to graduate within a certain time period (thinking it is 3 years but not sure, it might be 2) as well. brandon morris had the needed credits to graduate, but he lacked the credits that would fit into a slu degree that were transferable to put him onto a pace to graduate in the needed time period. i dont know what bandon's juco emphasis was on, but let's say it was "agriculture". well slu doesnt have an agriculture major that those extra credits would have fit into to allow brandon to be on pace to graduate on time. apparently wisconsin green bay did. this is where the lack of a p.e. degree will likely keep a lot of jucos from ever coming to slu whereas a big state university is likely to have more degree options thus p.e., agriculture, basket weaving etc will be more likely to work and enable schools to get brandon morris' and ricky clemons' like students into their schools and slu wont.
  16. was not a dirty or cheap shot. came on a play where kevin was going up for a rebound and livingston was as well. totally accidental.
  17. tonka said, "If we get somebody like Schalnger, I don't think his play by play will be any better (IMO), he has to learn more about SLU and there will be a learning curve until he is fully immersed, and we are speculating on how subjective he will be (since we don't know - we could be worse off!), and more than likely if he's not a full SLU time employee, he will have commitments to other things that also butter his bread." i would hope that the firing of ramsey would be sending a message to the future "voice of the billikens" that he better walk and talk the company line or else.
  18. he was doing the sports for jc before. jc seems to have a way of "killing" careers! :-) i love jc though. i am guessing station execs dont though.
  19. no the ncaa uses their own formula, but experts are pretty much in agreement that the rpi is probably identical to the ncaa formula.
  20. maybe there is some secret sect of billiken fans somewhere that i dont come across, but i have yet to run into the true billiken fan at a game or at a billiken club event that has told me they dont like the a-10 switch and sure wish we would have tried to get in the mvc. the only people i have heard say that are casual basketball fans that admit the billikens arent their top team.
  21. i think mr bonwich's suggestion yesterday about steve schlanger being the play by play would be great.
  22. ramsey has said on many occasions he doesnt read the internet. if true, he doesnt even know how to get e-mails.
  23. basketbill said, "I suspect Mizzou will make the tourney as a .500 team in their conference." if the big 12 is still the 8th ranked conference as of a couple of weeks from now, it wont change thereafter and a 500 record will not get big 12 teams in the tourney. the big 12 is in trouble tourneywise is my opinion.
  24. i guess they could have been writing depositions and rehearsing testimonies. or the other thought i had was they were having group financial planning meetings. maybe they started a stock club.
