kwyjibo
SLU is currently ranked in both of the coaches polls: 20th in SoccerTimes---http://www.soccertimes.com/ncaa/top25/men.htm 11th (!!!) in NSCAA/Adidas Poll---http://www.nscaa.com/seniorRes.php?it=233 SLU is only ranked in one of the media polls: SLU is unranked by Soccer America---http://www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562137825 SLU is ranked 26th by College Soccer News---http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/page0400.htm The best news is that SLU is doing well in one of the computer polls: Massey has them at 16th---http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=csoc Jones/Reed rankings has them at 36th--http://www.soccerratings.com/ The low Jones ranking, which is more "RPI-like", and the horrible conference ranking of the A10 (ranked 16th amongst conference which is up from 17th last year) should be a concern and give the Billikens very little room for error in an at large bid (I think they would get one if they kept winning in the A10 and then got to the finals). It is good sign that they are ranked in some of the polls (which the committee tends to ignore however). SLU's computer ratings will take a massive hit when they play St. Joe's and Temple because they are so bad. The A-10's unbalanced schedlue hurts the Billikens this year as we don't play two relatively good teams (Charlotte and Richmond). Anyway, SLU has to keep on winning (it is hard to avoid teams who pack it in and look for a tie in college soccer).
TransAlaskanBilliken
Where are the Lady Bills ranked?
slu06
Is there a list floating around somewhere naming SLU players on professional teams?
Box and Won
Not ranked in most polls. #21 in the Jones ratings, #59 in the Massey ratings. The loss to Fordham really hurt them.
TransAlaskanBilliken
Well, at least we're the best Jesuit soccer program in the country.
courtside
I think Santa Clara would disagree with that assessment. SLU women have exactly ONE high profile quality win this year over Illinois. A couple of their opponents, i.e. Marquette etc...who are normally ranked, are down this year and SLU didn't beat them. Duke was their one other high profile game and they lost 3-1. The men are likely to make the NCAA's this year and imo depending on the draw face a tough road game and lose early. If they can rack up a clean sheet rest of the way...and win conference tourney, maybe they can get a home game, and get a win....but I don't see two NCAA wins as likely. But as the younger players improve, anything can happen.
kwyjibo
I do not know of a list but there might be. I know of a few SLU players in the pros and hopefully some other will fill in where I missed out (OK I actually looked up a bunch to make this nearer to complete--corections and additions still welcome): *Brian McBride is at Fulham (English Premier League)--McBride plays at lot for Fulham and has scored a few goals this season *Vedad IbiÅ¡ević is at Aachen (German Bundesliga)--I don't think he plays a lot but does play some *Dipsy Selolwane is at Cape Town Santos (South African Premier League)--Dipsy was captain and top scorer on his team last year *Brad Davis is with Houston Dynamo (MLS) (I looked this one up and Martin Hutton is on the Dynamo development team) *Jackie Jewsbury is with KC Whiz (I looked this one up Will John is on KC development team). *Jacob Thomas is on Columbus Crew (MLS). (I looked this one up as Tim Ward is on Columbus development team). *Danny Wynn is on NE Revs (MLS) development team.
courtside
This week SLU men's rankings of week ending Oct 15 9th in RPI 25 in Massey 18 Soccer Times 23 College Soccer News 19 Jones Reed 12 in Adidas poll. Tie with Xavier hurt...not getting game winner allowed. Puts more pressure on the road games.
kwyjibo
Soccer America has SLU at 22 when they had left them out for a few weeks. I found it hilarious that Soccer America decided to rank SLU after they tied Xavier and beat Dayton. I guess that is what you would call a "make-up" call. tseugnekillib
what has happened to Josh Aranda this season....hurt, redshirting, left team ??? I thought I read on this board that Aranda was one of the higher ranking recruits. Thanks.
courtside
Aranda had leg injury for much of first half of season. He has played in some games, but as a Frosh falling behind 8 ball with injury, tough to get into the mix.also take into consideration the large transition from hs to college ball..I expect him to compete for starting position nezt year as long as healthy. He'll be fine. At the moment John DiRaimondo has missed past several games due to injury which has been a concern.
