Box and Won Posted August 9, 2006 Share Posted August 9, 2006 From Deb Peterson's column in the P-D: MAKIN' A MOVIE: A group of local fellows - including Patrick Rooney (Kirkwood High, class of '95), Matthew Krentz (Chaminade, '95) and Jimmy McKinney (Vashon High, '02) - is making a movie. Krentz, who has been studying film at the Robert Redford Sundance film labs for the past seven years, is the writer-director and co-star; Rooney is the producer and McKinney is the co-star. The film, "Streetballers," is about a black junior college basketball player from north St. Louis and a college player from south St. Louis who realize they have more in common than the game. This is McKinney's acting debut. He is scheduled to leave town Aug. 15 to begin his professional basketball career in Germany. In supporting roles are Larry Hughes of the Cleveland Cavaliers; Justin Tatum, former SLU standout and current free agent; Craig Thomas, an up-and-coming St. Louis-based NBA agent; and Rooney. DoctorB Posted August 11, 2006 Share Posted August 11, 2006 I was driving down 40 yesterday or Wed. and I think I saw them shooting on those courts outdoors right next to the freeway. southside of 40 in richmond Heights. it was right in the middle of the day, very hot and steamy.
