2006 Recruiting Thoughts

Recommended Posts

If Brad can get a commitment from Adam Koch, I'd call this a successful recruiting class. A 6'5 marksman and a versatile 6'8 forward are scholarships well spent. That gives us eleven scholarship players, two more than will actually be in the rotation. Call it a year and start working on Leon Powell before the wolves come sniffing around Vashon.

So far, the only other A-10 teams with commitments are St. Joseph's, which signed a trio of 5'11, 6'1 and 6'2 guards; Dayton, which has a commitment from a highly regarded 6'9 Ohio player; Temple, which has a commitment from a 6'5 marksman of its own; and Rhode Island, which has a commitment from a 6'7 forward.

With former Oklahoma starter and McDonald's All-American Drew Lavender transferring to Xavier and a commitment from a top 50 swingman in the 2007 class, the Musketeers may find it difficult to attract any top caliber perimeter players in the 2006 class. I hope so anyway :-)

Yeah, I'd like to see another big man recruited, hopefully not a project type. And 3 star correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Koch a Novak type? With the reports below about JJ not showing much in the Bonner league, I'm thinking another 6'8" OBI might be nice to have in reserve. We'll still have Powell's scholie available with JJ and IV graduating.
