billikenbill
Thought it was interesting that Stony Brook's coach had a four year record of something like 30-80 prior to this breakthrough year. They have some nice players and their crowd was terrific. The Memphis St. John's game was terrific and the Memphis crowd was outstanding. Very much like an NCAA Tourney game. Memphis wins at the buzzer by two.

I was really hoping we would meet up with Memphis in the NIT; if they still play in the Pyramid it is a great arena and Memphis a fun town to visit when the weather is warm enough to walk Beal street and stay at the Peabody Hotel with the Ducks
TheBand
Memphis plays at the Fed Ex forum now. The last plan that I heard for the vacant Pyramid was to use it as a Bass Pro shop. (yes, I'm serious)
Pistol
Memphis plays at the Fed Ex forum now. The last plan that I heard for the vacant Pyramid was to use it as a Bass Pro shop. (yes, I'm serious) They have played there ever since it open, and that's where the 2005 CUSA tournament was held (we didn't do well, drawing Memphis in the first round and getting drubbed). The Bass Pro Shop proposal is still on the table, along with some other things; who knows what will actually happen. It's a bad situation for the city of Memphis, as that thing cost a freaking fortune in the early 90s and was supposed to be the big landmark for the area. It turned out to be a financial drain and short-lived facility for big events (this was just barely before they figured out you need luxury boxes to make money with legit sports venues). There were a whole bunch of big boxing matches that never happened there as well. They were trying to make it the Vegas of the South, although I believe that title still belongs to the lovely town of Tunica, Miss.
