Updated Scouting Reports on Ellis

Both of these sound very promising.

Sorry, I realized after posting that this one is old news, but I did not realize that he shoots 42% from beyond the arc.

An up close view of his game from an Australian basketball blogger. This guy has had a consistent them in his Ellis posts; "tons of ability but tends to coast at times." Like I have said before, after years of watching the scrappy Billikens not have near enough talent, I will take a guy that has tons of talent and maybe just needs a kick in the pants from time-to-time. I am betting that once he gets on the stage here in the states, he will take his game to another level.

Anyone know if the 3pt line they use in Australian high schools is 19"9', 20"9', or something else? It's amazing what 1 extra foot can do to great high school shooters when they reach D1. If he's truly a forward that can post-up and shoot outside then I can't wait to see him in action.

I don't think it really matters for the caliber of D1 player we are recruiting. If they can shoot a 3 from the high school line they can shoot it from a foot/less than a foot (whatever it is).

Hahahah good point. But he couldnt shoot from the same line as in high school. What I was saying though is that one foot is not going to make more than a 10 percent difference. Unless you completely lose your shot as DP did.

I agree, but for me, 10% is a big difference.

Let's just hope Ellis doesn't turn ice cold like DP

Yeah I was kinda fishin' for a number. I agree it is a big drop. Maybe more like 5% though.

On kenpom.com he has a "3-Pt. Tracker" comparing last years nation-wide stats with this year's. This shows that the difference made by adding length to the 3-Pt. line is miniscule. Last years nationwide average for 3's was 35.1% and this year it is 34.3%.

If this holds true with the guys we have coming in...particularly Ellis we are in great shape.
