That alone limits the demographic of single game ticket sales, walk-up ticket sales, families, and other kinds of buyers. It is understood SLU needs to pay for its building, but charging the prices of elite top 10 programs will turn some people off who find that too much for the value. SLU will try to recoup as much $$ as it can going to a smaller sized building. But with that, limits target buying groups. Die-hards will come. But if you want to get Joe average basketball fan off of the street, or new fans, or families, or other types of fans, they want and need to get a lot of entertainment value for that ticket price. Boston College is a fellow Jesuit school, a good academic school in a borderline top 10ish market, that has had some basketball succes and it plays in the ACC. The game is on a Saturday afternoon. (It should be a night game) So that game stands out as a game Joe average fan will mark on his/her calendar to attend. Putting the medicore attendance levels on ticket prices is far too simplistic. Last year, one could buy season tics for about $7 a game, and how much did we average? About the same as what we have gotten so far this year. If price was the main factor in this year's attendance problems then I would have expected all those people to have gone to the games last year. But they didn't, so therefore price can't be primary force. Anyone care to guess what the common factor is in the years of highest attendance in the past: WINNING. drkelsey55 Posted November 22, 2008 Share Posted November 22, 2008 If the team performs as well as they did against Kent State and maintains tha effort level, then the games will still be woth going to win or lose. This team is only going to get better over the next 3 to 4 years and a joy to watch. The investment now to have seats locked up for those future games is worth the price.
