OT: Dwight Howard

Is it time to declare him the best player in the NBA? He has two 30-20 games already and 22 double/double games. He is averaging 23.6 ppg, 15.3 rpg, 2.7 bpg, and shooting 62%. He is 22. He hasn't even reached his prime. He has a chance to go down as the best center ever.

He is a beast. And not that it matters too much but apparently he is a great kid as well. He's turned out to be everything all those GM's hope for when they draft an 18 yr old kid. The vast majority don't pan out but he sure has. It's too bad he plays in Orlando and doesn't get much pub. The NBA should market the hell out of this kid. He and the King are the future.

Check out the Youtube videos of Howard hitting his head on the rim.

It is amazing that someone his size has that much athletic ability.

Remember the debate about whether Orlando should have picked Howard or Emeka Okafor?

Okafor isn't a bad player, but he isn't even close to Dwight. I understood the argument at the time. Orlando obviously made the right decision.

I understood the argument at the time.

At the time, it seemed like a difficult choice. I think a lot of people viewed Dwight Howard as next Kwame Brown while Okafor was the established college player coming off a national championship.

Those are the type of players that SLU needs to recruit. Athletes !

Howard is unreal. Combines the athleticism of a Garnett or Stoudamire but he is absolutely huge. Probably weighs close to 300. Just a monster.

He doesn't have the horses to run with him yet. Orlando probably needs a better coach too.

I thought Billy Donovan was smart to take that job.

Not many college coaches get a chance to make the jump to the NBA and have a player like Howard to build around.
