Kennedy Calhoun makes the A10 All-Defensive team. She’s the only Billiken on any of the A10 season award teams
-
Captain Obvious knows what he’s talking about

So did mine, ended up in junk mail. My guess is because there’s never been a lot of email coming into my email from Billikens.com, the email system treated it like spam. It’s not really a problem from the point of view of doing this, just check your inbox first, if it’s not there check junk mail folder. If you reply from the email from your junk mail folder the verification works just fine.

Any update on this? 9 made 3pt shots against Loy-Chi should push him up the chart
-
Now that’s cool!

Tournament bracket set. Billikens take on St Bonaventure on Wednesday. If they win, they take on UMass on Thursday. Win that, and it’s George Mason on Friday. If they get to Saturday, I’ll be very happy.
-
Loyola-Chicago wins it, 63-62. Don’t like that the Billikens, after putting them down by 16 at halftime, loses the game. Not a good sign for the A10 tournament. Billikens did better from 3, but, shot 33/41/94. 33& FG shooting will not win them games, neither will 17 TO’s help. Still, with good offense rebounding, they got 4 more FG chances than L-C, but that means nothing if you don’t put the ball in the hoop at least as well as you’re opponent.

52-51 Loy-Chi with 5 min left
-
Unforced turnovers just killing the Billikens.
-
43-41 Billikens at the end of the 2nd. Absolutely disastrous 3rd qtr for the Billikens, poor shooting. Coach should be cheesed off. Still have the lead, and a whole qtr to play, but they can’t win playing like that.
-
FYI, these TV guys finally figured out Tierra’s last name was Simon, not Miller, sometime in the 2nd qtr. Better preparation required for them, they don’t have an excuse that it was hard to pronounce.
-
37-21 Billikens at the half, SLU was dominant in the 2nd qtr, 20 pts to only 7 for Loy-Chi.
-
17-14 Billikens at the end of the 1st qtr, Loy-Chi went on a 7-0 run to end the qtr.
-
13-7 Billikens halfway through the 1st.
-
TV announcer keeps calling Tiera Simon “Miller”. Done it about 5 times in a row…

This is a winnable game. We are locked in to 10th place, so it doesn’t matter to conference seeding (technically we could finish tied with VCU, but we beat them head to head). Starters per the Stats broadcast are: Wallace, Calhoun, Glanton, Simon, Kennedy. Let’s win and head into the tournament with as much momentum as possible.
-
This a must win game. Get into the double buy, and take our chances in the A10 tourney.

It’s called “The Golden Rule”. He who has the gold, makes the rules.

While I agree, it’s very amusing to see the Selection Committee justify taking a team in a power conference in the bottom third of their conference over a mid-major with a much higher NET rating, I also think they will have no problem doing it and not caring what anyone thinks about it.

I was at the game, and thought you were talking about the PA announcer for the women’s game, whose name I do not know. This guy did a great job, much better than the guy at the men’s game, who mangles players names and sounds like he has marbles in his mouth. This guy sounded good and got all the names right, even pronouncing the first name of URI player “Honey” Kaur, from Punjab State in India correctly, something that neither @Pistol or @billikenfan05 would even attempt on their podcast. I also think Colin Suhre is an outstanding play by play announcer on TV. I think someday when he’s hit it big we’ll all say “Remember when he had that gig at SLU?”

No, they do not

With us at #10, that pits us against #15 on Wednesday, which is either St Bonaventure (6-22, 2-15 in conf) or LaSalle (8-22, 2-15 in conf). We should be able to beat either of them the way we are playing right now. If we win, then Thursday we get #7, probably UMass (assuming Dayton beats St Bonaventure Saturday, which I think is likely). We lost to UMass 72-55 on Jan 5th, but I think we’ve been playing better since then, so I have to favor us. If we beat UMass, then for our 3rd game in 3 days we play #2, George Mason, (23-5, 13-4 in conference) who demolished us 80-53 at Chaifetz. Sounds like a loss for us, except they are stumbling down the stretch, losing their last 2 games to Davidson 66-50 and St Joseph 83-69. The George Mason team of those games we can beat. So who knows? It’s a tall order, but that’s we play the games.
-
Yes it did! However, since we lost by 20 to them last month, I’ll take the win. We look fairly well locked into 10th place in the standings, so I guess we’ll see if they can pull off a miracle in Henrico next week.
