  1. That Maryville logo looks like a blatant rip off of Google's Gmail logo.
  2. I'm interested to see also what the new mascot will look like. It seems it may be a bit harder to convert this graphic into a wearable head, but at the same time it could be very cool.
  3. Can't link to the header itself, but the picture on SLU Twitter of College Church and Gries in the background with the new logo looks pretty sharp. It obviously isn't the disaster that some of the athletic promotions have been.
  4. http://www.slu.edu/fun/dots/I can't tell if this is a clever way to show the new logo, or just frustrating.
  5. That is a nice looking change, I was not expecting the university logo to be that at all.
  6. I would love if the throwback script is utilized in a good chunk of apparel. It meshes well with the logo.
  7. Obviously we know what is underneath the black tarp. Kind of odd they didn't choose a bigger change with the court but I'm hopeful this will be pretty solid.
  8. Though I like the new logo, I feel like the AD missed on on the chance of a lifetime to merge the Billiken with Stamos.
  9. On that note, is there anywhere to get a good jersey from? Besides the bookstore.
  10. My friend on the tennis team saw the court yesterday, but they made a strict policy of no phones or cameras. He wouldn't spill the beans on what exactly the changes were, but said he liked it.
  11. The more I see it, the more I like it. I think it will play better as a court design. Something my roommate suggested would be good for the court is an arch that spans the whole court, similar to the Xavier skyline concept but a little cleaner. Though I'm not sure that is the route they went with, I would be pleasantly surprised with the whole process if that came out of it as well.
  12. There is a billiken statue in the BSC that people keep shouting is the new design. I'm assuming they are freshmen because it is the current design and not new at all.
  13. I do not have a ton of basis behind this, but I am very excited to see Zeke Moore in a Billiken uniform. People on this board always talk about having to find some of those unheralded recruits that end up being quality for the program, and I think Zeke will be one of those guys. He seems like a competitor, natural scorer, and a fairly grounded kid. Looking at his frame, he looks like a guy who could add functional weight and really blossom in our program. Granted, this is all speculation and not grounded entirely in recruiting statistics or hours of game film, but I am excited about Zeke Moore. Welcome to SLU.
  14. Come Friday, when the new logo is unveiled, there is supposed to be a sale on some of the old merchandise. Not sure what is eligible, but my friends who work there have informed me it should be a good time to pick up some merchandise.
  15. As a current student, if I was not a member of this message board I would have no idea that this change was occuring. I have tried to tell some friends about it and I was met with looks of confusion because this was so secretive from the undergraduate students here.
  16. I'm not sure at this point if someone is trolling the fanbase with these graphics, or if people managing this Twitter account actually think that is a good marketing tool.
  17. All of the building signs around campus have had the university logo removed or are in the process of being taken off.
  18. One of the athletes I am friends with also had a picture on his computer of the new logo. I agree with Big Mouth. It seems the university really missed this opportunity to make the right change.
  19. DR and MC looked to be the best players on the team in the Bahamas. I wouldn't mind finding some way to get them both into the starting lineup because the more minutes they play, the better position the team appears to be in. However, neither is someone who initiates the offense well and Ash is probably going to start. What a confusing problem to have considering the season that occurred last year.
  20. Count me in the minority but I think Ash is going to have a very good year. Perhaps his 3 point shooting is not as effective as we initially hoped, but his physical dominance over his matchup could play much better than it did last year. He is a driven guy and I don't see him ending his college career on a sour note.
  21. Arrieta should be good over the next 5 years. Closest comparable in terms of mileage and breakout is Max Scherzer who is doing just fine for himself. I think the more intriguing pitcher on the Cubs is Lester. I see a breakdown coming mid contract for him that could be quite expensive.
  22. I'd argue that fact about the cubs having the best fans in baseball. (This is quite biased as I am a White Sox fan) Living on the North Side of Chicago, I have been able to attend many games at Wrigley over the past 7 years or so when the cubs have been quite putrid. And I can honestly say, the environment still feels like one big bar that happens to have baseball in the background. As a huge baseball fan, I'm just not convinced most of their fan base is there because of their undying support and love of the team. And yes, I've been to games this year during the resurgence and have walked away unimpressed by the fans. Like I said, I'm biased.
  23. I wasn't trying to underestimate the potential of his bat. Yes, with the position change his focus was clearly on the defensive intricacies of catching. This upcoming season is one that will prove crucial in his development. He is still young, but improved plate discipline and average would be great to see from this young man. Potential is one of the most frustrating things in sports, especially in baseball. It sounds odd when talking about a 21 year old, but the overwhelming odds are that potential will remain unrealized simply because of the vast number of minor leaguers and select few major leaguers.
  24. Kelly is an option, though I am not sure his bat will ever warrant inclusion in a major league lineup. Yes, he is only 21 but his advanced numbers in advanced A ball don't scream future major leaguer to me. However, he has about till the age of 24 to figure it out based on natural progression in the minors. I would be worried if the next two seasons his bat doesn't make the advancement his catching skills have.
  25. I sure hope they are looking far and wide for a future backstop. The only disagreement I have is that some of those scouts who unearthed some hidden gems were taken to Houston with Luhnow.
