  1. Penny Hardaway won his 3rd consecutive state title at Memphis South. Assuming he takes the U job uptown and brings along a few of his select players, Memphis could be relative again in a year or two.
  2. The article did allude to staffing issues as being another topic being discussed.
  3. According to the Evansville Courier, if finances can be ironed out, the coaching job is Cheaneys. Simmons only made 1/4 million so assume a jump is needed in salary.
  4. Two additional candidates for Evansville are Walter McCarty (from Eville, played at KY then 10 years in The League,) and Mike Lewis from Jasper IN, current Assist at Nebraska, and previous assistant at Butler. McCarty is apparently also interested in the Eastern KY opening.
  5. https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/college/evansville/2018/03/15/ryan-taylor-explore-other-options-after-two-seasons-evansville/430780002/ IU and UCLA interested in Taylor.
  6. http://depauliaonline.com/33219/sports/that-empty-feeling-despite-move-to-city-mens-basketball-attendance-remains-low/ Here is an interesting article on how pathetic DePaul basketball is.turnstile attendance reported to be 3,000.
  7. Reportedly Haas fractured his elbow requiring surgery.
  8. Yikes. Isaac Haas of PU out for rest of tourney. Injured elbow.
  9. Gonzaga v UNC was a 21% increase in ratings over the 2016 game. It had the 3rd highest ratings since 2005.
  10. Two 13 seeds advancing. More Cinderella's!! NCAA Selection Committee is in a panic......what happened?...we can't have these Middle Majors advancing!
  11. Kermit Davis from Middle Tennessee going to Ole Miss.
  12. 6'11" Tariq Owens from St. John's available as a GT. 8.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg ain't too shabby. Can you have enough big's? Should Macon make a call?
  13. Didn't there used to be a selection criteria that a team had to play .500 in their conference in order to be eligible for an At Large bid? If so, why did they dump it, beyond the obvious reason of being allowed to select more P5 schools? I don't care what your RPI, Kenpom, Sagarin, Tier I, II or III wins, or your % saturated fat, if you can't play 50/50 in your league, you don't deserve a chance at the National Title.
  14. The two games all over the news are the wins by Buffalo and Loyola. The P5 wins are all afterthoughts. The public wants to see these upsets. The NCAA needs to fix their 'fix' and insure the smaller conferences are well represented. Middle Tennessee, St. Mary's, both should have been in the tourney. I read that Larry Bird's Indiana State University NCAA runner up team (which did win the Valley that year) wouldn't have qualified as an At-Large team for this year's tourney.
  15. Article on Taylor. He is from the Gary IN area. https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/college/evansville/2018/03/15/ryan-taylor-explore-other-options-after-two-seasons-evansville/430780002/
  16. Crean gets six years @ $3.2 m per from the Bulldogs. Done deal.
  17. Athens Newspapers reporting deal all but done for Crean to Georgia. Matta turned down $3.2 m. What will Crean get?
  18. IFor once I agree with you . Stuff happens. It happened in 2016-2017 and it happened in 2017-2018. We still have no idea if ALL the core players will be back. I want everyone on the bench worthy of playing heavy minutes and contributing. I'm not big on a practice player or a 'great teammate'.
  19. Georgia talking with Tom Crean. Sources told CBS Sports that a search firm working on behalf of the school initially inquired about Xavier's Chris Mack and Texas' Shaka Smart, both of whom respectfully declined. Georgia then offered its job to former Ohio State coach Thad Matta earlier this week. He declined the offer Wednesday.
  20. List has doubled in size in three days. Fordham is loosing one of their rotational players.
  21. We have differing opinions on this, don't we.
  22. Opinions are not wrong or right. Opinions are a personal view or judgment. You can disagree with an opinion, which you apparently do on this issue - and that is fine, but you can't say someone's opinion is wrong. And that is my opinion.
  23. Here is what Austin did last season for Vandy 23 games, 254 minutes. 2.5 ppg 41% FG, 25% 3FG, 56% FT (ouch) 1.0 apg and 0.7 tpg
  24. This is as much speculation as anything else, but a list for Missouri State from the Springfield News Leader includes Greg Heiar, LSU Assist - #1 on the wish list. Rob Lanier, TN Assist Kim English, CO Assist Steve Woodbury, Wake Forest Assist. (What if Steve Alford gets canned in UCLA? Would he want to go back to where he started?)
  25. Someone needs to take over as “Best teammate”.
