  1. On head to head, 2-0 trumps 1-0. On a three way tie, after head to head, the next step would be to use the record against conference opponents in descending order, which would mean starting with Dayton. And we know that the NCAA doesn't count our Maryville win. I don't know if the A10 does or not, but it doesn't matter in this scenario.
  2. I'm seeing +4, up to 53. Rhody down 5 to 56.
  3. I’m writing in Obi Toppin as winner of the 2021 NBA dunk contest.
  4. Isn’t that when your doctor puts on a rubber glove and says bend over?
  5. Duquesne and Rhody can only tie with 6 losses. Either SLU or St. Bonnie will also have 6 losses. So it goes to the second level for tie breakers. Here is what Chapley posted.
  6. Rhode Island beat Duquesne in their sole matchup. Rhody has the tiebreaker.
  7. https://www.scoopswithdannymac.com/gameday-preview-its-a-trap-rolling-high-off-a-win-in-rhode-island-billikens-look-to-avoid-a-letdown-at-george-mason/ Chapley's pregame story. I'm not a believer in 'trap games'. If the team isn't ready to play, then that goes on the coaching staff and the team. They know what is at stake tonight. AJ Wilson is battling a wrist injury. I believe he is a game time decision. No one seems to know if Green is off his suspension. We will see soon.
  8. Nobody ever died for dear old Rutgers.
  9. Whether we finish with the 4th or 5th seed in itself should have no bearing on our At Large possibility, as long as we win the next 2. If Duquesne finishes 4th (beating Richmond) and we finish 5th going 2-0, good for them. Then it will be what we do in the A10 Tourney that determines our fate.
  10. With last night's results we jumped one to a NET of 56. VCU dropped to 60, Rhode Island is at 52 and Richmond at 42. Duquesne is at 89, meaning their only pathway to March Madness is to win the A10 tourney. Davidson still 'in there' at 76. Half of the league is in Top 100 NET. If Richmond whips Duquesne on the road, they could easily move into the high 30's and post another Q2 win.
  11. Tank, Tank, Tank. Unfortunately I agree with you, I would like to avoid Duquesne as long as possible.
  12. Anyone hear if Greene is off suspension?
  13. Richmond secured a second double bye for the A10 tourney. Two remain. Rhode Island controls their own fate, as now does Duquesne. So we need help from Richmond over Duquesne, and/or Rhode Island losing at home to Dayton and then losing at UMass. If we don't win out, then none of this matters. Seeds 3 to 7 still possible for the Bills.
  14. Yes they were picked to win it all, but they are now playing without 2 of their top 3 scorers, Evans and Jenkins.
  15. Same information as has been already posted, in just a little different format. Pretty tight for 4th seed. I'm interested in how this looks after tonight's two games.
  16. Duquesne is still alive for a 3 or 4 seed. They lost to Rhode Island, so 2 is out of their reach. They win out, and Richmond loses out, #3 is the Dukes. There is a lot on the line tonight for the Dukes as well as for us. Even with a loss, Duquesne is still very still alive for a 4 seed. This is from a VCU message board, but it looks like VCU will be short again tonight. Jenkins appears to be done for the year. Morale is low because of injuries and health issues. Two of the seniors will be out for senior night. Marcus Evans is hurt and De'Riante Jenkins, a fan favorite, has left the team due to health issues. So tonight--Marcus Evans is out. De'Riante Jenkins is out. Corey Douglas is out. Vince Williams is out. Maybe you should take the Dukes and the points. That is unless you think the VCU players and fans can will the team to victory. I think Rhoades will hold Evans and Williams out until the tournament in Brooklyn and play lots of the young guys these last two games.
  17. I posted this before. It is from the NCAA website. The selection committee uses more than the NET to select At Large Teams. Selection Criteria The NCAA Evaluation Tool, known as the NET, is in its second year of existence and is one of many factors used by NCAA sports committees when evaluating team selection, seeding and bracketing. The components of the NET include the Team Value Index, which is based on game results and factors game location, the opponent and outcome, as well as net efficiency, winning percentage, adjusted winning percentage and a capped scoring margin. Other criteria the committee considers in the selections process: An extensive season-long evaluation of teams through watching games, conference monitoring calls and regional advisory committee rankings. Complete box scores and results. Head-to-head results and results versus common opponents. Imbalanced conference schedules and results. Overall and nonconference strength of schedule. The quality of wins and losses. Road record. Player and coach availability. Various computer metrics.
  18. If Fred for sure was not going to play anymore, Ford would be silent at this point of the season.
  19. Davidson plays the Spiders at the Robins Center. Senior Night, except they don't have any seniors....maybe a Student Manager?
  20. I'm guessing here, but I would not be surprised if his first job is to block out the opponent's pivot (whom he is guarding) to allow Goodwin or French to grab the board. Goodwin's freshman year, Ford said several players were instructed to block out first and allow Goodwin to get to the rim. Roby, a strong rebounder, was sent back on D.
  21. UCLA is 6-6 in Quad 1 and 3-3 in Quad 2. They have a horrible Q4 loss though, to Cal State Fullerton.
  22. VCU played last game against George Washington without Evans, Jenkins, Douglas and Williams. The Rams still went 9 deep. If they are down these four again, particularly Evans and Jenkins, the odds may tilt a little to the Dukes, which isn't good. This game is our best shot at shedding Duquesne off our backs for the Top 4 seed. Hughes and Weathers will be a tough matchup for Santos-Silva and Vann. Douglas has played inside, so his loss would hurt. Kind of sad to say that our immediate Top 4 seed destiny is in the hands of VCU tomorrow.
  23. I was looking at that very same matchup, meeting up with the Dukes in the 4/5 game. I'm not sure if it is a match-up issue or what, but we have not played well against Duquesne. I believe there were a handful of MBM's who earlier this season were dissing the Dukes. VCU was preseason top dog in the A10. That didn't work out so well.
  24. https://www.a10talk.com/a-10-tournament-bracketology-entering-the-final-week/ Yeah, another new thread. The great discussion on A10 tourney seeding is buried in several other threads. Hence the vital need to start a new one. This article discusses the chaos that is 2-7 in the A10 today and how it may or may not break out. Worth a read, but then these games have not been played.
  25. The 20 game conference schedule that the Big 10 implemented this year is not good for us. Instead of 2 buy games, each Big 10 team played another conference opponent. Just think how much better off we would be in we didn't play FGCU or Bethune Cookman, and instead had played two more A10 games, say against VCU, Davidson, Rhode Island, Richmond or St Bonnie.
