  1. And GW as well, 5 teams projected from A10
  2. I am with you, nothing like working harder to make them look at you in a better light.
  3. Yes, and that is why the decision of where to transfer to will be very difficult for Cam. This is mostly a one shot deal as you say.
  4. If you were Brey would you take him back? This kid has taken a difficult road, let's hope it works well for him.
  5. I am going to express a dissenting opinion about Cam. He sounds, to me at least, as a person that wants what he wants and is willing to walk if he does not get it. That is a big problem. I think coaches have to think carefully about what they are getting if they get Cam. A coach's job is to shape and direct his team, to mold the talent he has recruited into a team that expresses his ideas about play and team work. I think this might be a difficult thing to do while trying to keep Cam from bolting. In other words are you going to run a team or are you going to be doing what Cam thinks is best for himself, can you reach a mutually happy medium with Cam? Most certainly Brey could not. Food for thought, how far are you, the coach, willing to go for the sake of having Cam playing for you? Of course (strictly by what I have heard about him in this board) Haith has his own way of doing things, and he may think there is a perfect connection between his style and Cam's, who knows. However, I think Crews is a very different kind of guy and I could see some degree of incompatibility between his way of doing things and Cam's. I think Cam has a tough decision to make, one that may indeed force him to accept more restrictions and less play time than he desires if he wants to come to SLU. Time will tell.
  6. All I can say is that I am glad to be here.
  7. Liked this JettFlight, particularly the spray part.
  8. One of the three point spreads they publish in Team Rankings (Bet online) is at -7.5 in favor of SLU at this time. This will change of course as we get closer to game time.
  9. You might find this to be unusual but I only watch basketball and a few other sports in TV so I do not know who any of these characters are.
  10. I had pretty thick skin before I posted my first note here, that has nothing to do with Billiken.com. By the way, I think it is a good thing to have don't you.
  11. SLU is # 24 in the latest CBS poll.
  12. Now SLU72, this has never been reported in the clinical literature, with just a bit of research you could be a published author of medical articles. Who knows how many people may have developed such delayed manifestations of Mexican ice.
  13. I know they are pulling my leg, just like they are doing when the compare me to Cliff in Cheers and similar characters. This is fine with me, I have a thick skin.
  14. Essentially what I have been posting in a different thread, but analyzed to player level. RI is not about to repeat this performance against us. Looking at theTeam Rankings site shows the ranking (theirs) of the 9 opponents against which Rhode Island has won. 6 of these defeated opponents were schools rated int he 300s, RI won two games against schools rated in the 200s: McNeese (#261) and Brown (#233). RI has won only one game against a reasonably high ranked team, LSU (#52). The rating numbers for Team Rankings are the current numbers, you can check Kenpom if you wish, I do not think their rankings will be that different. The point is that the win over LSU was one of those things where everything lined up for RI against LSU (an outlier to use the nomenclature some of you dislike so much). The chances for them pulling the same kind of thing against us are very small. We should win this one unless something totally unforeseen happens.
  15. Wisconsin ahead, Iowa blown by a combo technical and standard foul that gave Wisconsin 5 points. Wisconsin ahead 62-55 with 6 min to go
  16. Absurd Bills Fan, care to translate?
  17. Wisconsin is picking up the slack, primarily with 3 pointers. 21- 20 now for Iowa but their lead has evaporated.
  18. The norm I was referring to is the distribution curve used in your calculations. If the distribution curve is the gaussian curve then the average is the mid point which is also the mean. This is not the case with other distribution curves belonging to different families. An outlier is a value that is not under the distribution curve used (whatever the curve may be). As such an outlier value is an anomaly, not a part of the distribution used, and therefore not expected to recur. You can calculate probabilities for all values under the distribution curve used but not for outlier values. The outlier value issue is always a problem in statistical analysis of real events. If outlier values are found frequently in an analysis, the chances are that the distribution curve being used is not appropriate for the event that is being analyzed. Search google for "analysis of black swan events," these are very much unexpected outliers. What you will find out is a clash of definitions and analytical approaches, with much confusion and acrid debte between people that are trying to define this type of event and predict its occurrence. Outliers are a major issue in risk management. And by the way, you can look at a basketball game in terms of risk: which team is more at risk in any game, etc...
  19. I do not know if I can explain this without repetition, but the "norm" is many different things at the same time. If you want to take the rankings as the norm that is fine, if you want to define your own norm (and your own rankings like the Wiz does) that is also fine. For every single ranking system that you use there will be future outcomes that will be outliers. They should not be ignored, however things will generally (not always) tend to settle back towards the norm, whatever you have defined the norm to be. Clear as mud is it not?
