  1. You got me there Brigadier, T I T (This is True)
  2. Whatever they call it it is a series of games between a pre selected group of teams.
  3. Oh yes, but I would be so happy about it that I would not care in the least. If the opposite happened I would also be surprised but I would be so depressed that I would probably not post anything at all for a while. Anyway I guess I am ready for whatever.
  4. Nothing at all should surprise you, that is the point.
  5. The thing that makes no sense with this tournament is the choice of participants: 2 schools way down in the rankings, 2 in the low 100s, and one top 10 school. With an obvious win to the top 10 school it looks more like something done to comply with contractual requirements of some sort than a real tournament.
  6. I think it is, look at Cowboy's post
  7. Think again sulfanskip, I fully agree with what you say but in a group like this you will always find someone that will surprise you.
  8. These are good signs Basketbill.
  9. Happy Thanksgiving JMM
  10. My bad, sorry, it is KDNL. Box that is good, what I see me doing is going through channels until I find one that carries it, it is worth is to have this information.
  11. KNDL is carried by Charter in St. Louis, channel 12 std, 712 HD. They are part of ABC network.
  12. Thank you billikenbill, Happy Thanksgiving to you and all as well
  13. OK cheeseman to end this I must confess I have a thin skin, my bad. I also loose sleep at night thinking how hard it is to be me. I also must confess that you are blameless and humble at times and that it fits you well. So, now that all of this is out in the open will you please have a nice Thanksgiving and enjoy your turkey.
  14. I want to confirm Torch's statement that Jolly slapped a counter (the scorekeeper's?) when he was pulled out of the St. Francis game after a foul and walked out to the rear. I did see that. I did not see Roby or Yarborough pulling trantrums on the bench but again I was not watching the bench either. I really do not know anything about coaching but do know that players get very emotionally tied into the game play and have to blow steam somehow. I have no idea what the best way to handle these events may be.
  15. That is an interesting point, what it means is that the ranking is not a good measure of the team. Some teams ranked low may be much better than they seem.
  16. Dwayne's_World it goes like this, realistically we will lose, the question is by how much. However you cannot say there is NO WAY we will win either.
  17. Cheeseman, I believe the mistake you made runs a lot deeper than disagreeing with me. You raised false accusations against Yarborough's performance in the UNF game. As far as Crews goes, and not in this particular thread but in multiple occasions in past threads, you have made very disparaging comments about Crews. I do not think I have a thin skin, but you are entitled to your own opinion in this regard. I already thanked you for the source of stats, there is no need to feel sorry for this. One observation, humility does not suit you, or me either. All the best
  18. Teamrankings has Louisville at #4.
  19. I fully agree, what I saying is not a deep or valid analysis over the long run. But it is simple to articulate and covers most of the basis for the Louisville game. Your model is, without question, more analytical and more exact than my simple on the fly post. What my post does reflect is the feeling of goodness, relief, and happiness I experienced after last night's game. More of a quasi analytical wishful thinking analysis. Yes, there will be millions of dots to connect and a lot more data to take into account, but it is OK to feel whimsical and playful (in a quasi analystical fashion) from time to time, don't you think?
  20. They all played well, and played like a team that wanted to win.
  21. Hello Wiz, first of all I agree it is not realistic to expect a win against Louisville. They would have to have the whole team contracting gastroenteritis from eating something bad the night prior to the game before we had a really solid chance to beat them with a respectable margin. However, things may not be that bad if you look at them from a certain point of view: Louisville has beaten every team they have played so far. They have won their games by 41, 35, 28, and 44 points (in order of occurrence). However so far they have played no one anywhere near their standing level. The best team they have played so far, North Florida, they beat by only 28 points. I am not saying that North Florida is a bad team, but we just beat them by 13. So, let's project this to the Louisville game (which of course is not statistically correct) and pretend that our players will be able perform as they did against North Florida. We may still be beaten by them, but the difference in points between the 28 point margin they got against North Florida and the 13 point margin we got against North Florida is only 15. So comparing our presumable performance by the way we played against North Florida, we are 15 points behind Louisville. We can do the same for the games we played (both Louisville and SLU) against St. Francis and Hartford, in these cases Louisville was 28 (St. Francis) and 24 (Hartford) points ahead of SLU. So now, if we play at the same level we played against North Florida a loss by 15 or so appears doable, and if we manage to get ourselves really into beating Louisville, we may do even better. The point is that a loss against Louisville in the single digits will advance us in the standings, as well as in your ratings. On the other extreme, a loss over 25 or so will sink us. A loss between 15-20 is likely to have little impact in our standings, or so I hope. So, let's hope we manage to do well against Louisville and advance significantly in the ratings. Yes, I know hope is subjective, not objective. We will see.
  22. Cheeseman, always the fair, bias free, and knowledgeable poster! Well I did check the SLU AD website for stats (thank you very much this was very useful) and found the following: Yarborough 2 TO, 1 A, 7 R Roby 2 TO, 0 A, 0 R Neufeld 2 TO, 0 A, 2 R Bartley 1 TO, 4 A, 1 R Agbeko 1 TO, 1 A, 9 R Crawford 1 TO, 1 A, 9 R Yacoubou 0 TO, 2 A, 10 R Reynolds 1 TO, 4 A, 4 R Gillmann 4 TO, 3 A, 0 R Milik'a game was not terrible, he did contribute positively to the SLU win. As you can see above you are entirely wrong in your call of the multiple and horrible turn overs committed by Yarborough. He had exactly 2 turnovers, no more than Roby or Neufeld and less than Gillman or Agbeko. However you in your "well informed impartiality" decided to bad mouth Yarborough by saying his rebounds were nulifiied by the 3 or 4 turnovers he had. Wrong baby, he only had two turnovers plus his one assist and 7 rebounds which leaves him in the (+) column, and not worse than most of the other players. Please check your facts before you post insults to our players. I presume you are in deep thought since last night about how to spin this "terrible game by Milik" into a major failure for Crews. All I can say to you is: keep on thinking baby, JC is doing just fine so far this year. Happy Thanksgiving to you and enjoy your turkey.
  23. Milik made 7 rebounds in 14 minutes of play, true he did not score but in a game that depended primarily on defense 1 rebound every 2 minutes is a fine contribution to the team, not a misearable game. Davel played 12 minutes, in that time he made 7 points but no rebounds. Neither of them were credited with assists. Both contributed significantly to the win. And both spent basically the same amount of time playing and warming the bench (Davel warmed the bench a bit longer than Milik did).
  24. I do not think anyone could have predicted that with confidence, until the actual playing started.
