  1. Agree re: salary. He could return next season with his entire starting 5, a $800K salary (230% increase), and the chance to have an even more successful season than this one. Stock would be even higher and phone calls from P5 schools would be flowing like the salmon of Capistrano. It's a risk for sure but a low one at that. Not sure $1.5M would get me to sign on the dotted line. BE ship has sailed in my opinion. Unless we can reel off a few very deep tourney appearances over the next 5 years and even then, not sure it moves the needle for the BE. I see our only chance of playing in the BE as a reactionary move by the BE, not a proactive one. Or a few whales decide to go the SMU route (albeit on a much smaller scale). Come on, Dr. C, the NBA thing isn't going to happen. Make SLU your NBA team. Let's get them to the BE!
  2. This is correct. Some of the more knowledgeable posters on their board claim that Schertz has the updated contract ($800K) on his desk he just needs to sign it. SLU offering in the $1.5-2M range is what I was thinking.
  3. Sycamore board Recap of the Schertz interview on Dakich this morning: I heard it. Most of the interview was about the committee and missing the tournament and preparing for the NIT. At the very end DD asked him about the SLU rumors and he sort of fumbled a bit and they went into the typical "there are always rumors" "I'm focused on now" but did say that at the end of the season he would sit down and review offers and make a decision that is best for him and his family. Love where this poster’s head is at. Although if players plan on following Schertz to SLU I don’t see him leaving them behind to play in the NIT: So there is a school of thought that it would be best for all involved if HCJS would announce his departure today and leave for SLU tomorrow and not coach the NIT. That way he can start working the portal for SLU immediately and Angie can name Graves interim and he can start working the portal for ISU. Everything I've heard is that Graves is a really good recruiter so tag him interim with a whisper campaign that he is the HC in waiting and get to work.....just a thought.
  4. You could make a case for all of the bubble teams that got in and a handful that didn't, but UVA has absolutely no business playing in any tournament but the NIT.
  5. My computer is telling me this joke has 100% chance of producing laughs, especially from the dads. WWNTDTL: read Wiz's post
  6. From the Sycamore board: WTWO interviewed Schertz tonight and they asked him about SLU job…he said “his focus is on winning an NIT game and nothing is official.”I
  7. Depends. Which fruit basket are we talking about?
  8. Completely missed the other 2. Our next head coach Tom Crean had something to say about teams turning down bids:
  9. Please god. Not only because he’s the best option but also so we don’t have to see Blake Ahearn’s name anymore.
  10. Yeah I checked earlier in the week: back to DC next year. Not sure about subsequent years though.
  11. Schertz will be dominating some Protzel’s Deli in no time. Great Jewish deli. Curious to see how NIT impacts an announcement with Schertz. I’ve got to imagine he’s on the move, whether to SLU or somewhere else.
  12. Dukies win. All 7 of their fans going crazy in Brooklyn. Resident expert @Bay Area Billiken what specific neighborhood is Barclays technically in? It’s like the four corners of Brooklyn but I’d say Prospect Heights?
  13. 20 point watch for….both UCONN and Marquette. 4-4 with 12 minutes to play in the first half.
  14. Oregon v Colorado in the Pac12 finals. CO should be in already, especially after last night’s win, but Oregon would be a bid stealer.
  15. I believe both developments also have private security. A lot to like with the development going on in that area.
  16. For those of us that don’t want ISU and Schertz in the tournament, a big win by Oregon tonight against Arizona. Will play either Colorado or Washington State in Pac12 finals. For those that follow the various bracketology lists closely please correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Oregon is even on the bubble.
  17. Just listened to this segment. I guess they let just about anyone host a radio show these days. Given my recent blood pressure issues I'm not even going to attempt listening to Zac's segment with Slaten but good lord, this guy's hot takes and condescending tone was almost too much to take. @Pistol is a true American for showing patience and not talking to this guy like he's a 5 year-old.
  18. Speaking of May, I think he's doing some consulting work for the Cardinals these days: Oliver Marmol contract extension as Cardinals manager (mlb.com)
  19. Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man
  20. Mack would be the perfect candidate for UL! Kidding aside, Vandy will probably go hard after him. Did I read that right? Stackhouse buyout over $15M? Yowsers! We really need Indiana State to get snubbed on Sunday...
