  1. The hot dog coupon has an expiration date on it, the dates expire on 12-21 and 3-5, so one is for non-conference and conference. Not that confusing, sure the wording is a bit off but not anything to raise hell about. Usually good business practice is to just give the person with the expired coupon the damn hot dog. That isn't on SLU Athletics, that's the concession company. One game they ran out of popcorn! Popcorn! Don't even get me started on the beer lines. I get they are students, but why not add a few adults who can help out and pour beers? Either way the food is better than in recent years, but still way behind Busch or Scottrade. Way behind. As far as will call goes, if you buy through groupon you have to print a home, so that isn't in will call anymore. I haven't had a problem getting in all year like in year's past. Also, whoever thought of spreading the will calls out did a good thing, plus it's on their website. Remember, a lot of people who get these deals are coming for the very first time and that can slow down the line, it's not all SLU....and the people working the will calls are usually students. Overall, will call is the least of anyone's concern in my opinion. Just keep rolling till March! The rest will take care of it's self God Willing! Go Bills!
  2. I was just looking online and three stories were about the Rams. Go look...hard to find anything about last night's game.
  3. Three main stories online are about a 7-9, done for the year football team. The only thing I saw about college basketball was about the Kansas game. Absolutely terrible. Way to support the home team.
  4. Went to the game tonight and loved hearing the Christmas tunes being played by the band! Thought it really was a classy touch. Nice to see a little life in the atmosphere before the game.
  5. I buy some games from my friend, who is a season ticket holder. He was told they were mailed out today! He said it seemed earlier than usual, first regular season game isn't until November 8. I doubt there will be many at the exhibition game on Halloween.
  6. Rise of the Billiken?.....didn't we already rise the last two seasons?
  7. I guess you either own the gift shop or a relative of yours owns it. My opinion....it is lacking, if that is the flagship gift shop (which it is) it needs some help. The selection is great if you like Holloway, Gliddan, Hanes instead of Nike.
  8. I have tried to buy Christmas presents at the Arena after games and it's slim pickings. In my opinion, it has a terrible selection. Butler isn't a state school and their fan gear blows us out of the water. My point is that even the kids on campus don't want to wear their own school's merchandise. My nephew has told me that the book store on campus has a much better selection, not much better he said than the Arena. I'm talking about a new logo Billiken and whatever else nike can do to get young people interested in the university. I hate to say this as an older guy, but I think unless you went to SLU or have some type of connection, it has a perception of being associated with a bunch of old people. A refreshed Billiken and word marks might help the programs image.
  9. I'm not a fashion expert, but after reading a few posts tonight about our merchandise, could the Billiken use a nike make over? Most rebrands aren't very successful, yet would it help sell more gear to young people and use our unique mascot to our advantage? I never did understand why the university did not play up the mystic of the Billiken. I have no idea what would/could be done. With the talk of moving to the BE maybe and the hiring of Cheney and the recent buzz around soccer, baseball and of coarse basketball, would this make sense right now? Maybe people can't buy SLU merchandise because it's aimed towards old guys like me and not to a younger crowd? If you make it, will they want it? Can't do anything but seem to go up from where it is now. Thoughts?
  10. My nephew just got an offer from SLU about young alumni tickets for only $100. That comes out to $5.55 a game. Plus they sell $2 beers before the games. I don't know what age young alumni is, but that is a great deal. As far as the donation fee goes, most major programs raise money that way. You have to spend money to make money. The problem I feel is that an upper deck seat at $32 for VCU should not be $32 for North Carolina A&T. Not all games are discounted. Agree with the point about discounting too much can be a big turn off for season tickets.
  11. SLU, Dayton, VCU, Richmond? Maybe Wichita St? Thoughts?
  12. I like Bronson, but my point was someone (Majerus) saw something in this kid and gave him a chance. This is just my opinion, but the same guys that say get Tatum over Ahearn are the same as the guys that say vice versa. I trust Crews will hire the best person available. You've got to think Crews already has people in mind, any good coach would. All this talk is saloon banter anyway. Nothing against our current staff but please don't act like we can compare ours to a program like Louisville's or Kansas'. Again the only guy that matters is Crews. I just said Ahearn would be interesting because of our guard play and the talent we have at that position. Nothing more, nothing less. All things being equal, what is Rich Grawer up to these days? This late in the year he would be a great fill gap option as well.
  13. Nothing against Bronson, but didn't Majerus bring him in at a young age? He is still young correct? I have no idea what his basketball IQ is- Ahaern. If he knows his X's and O's, bonus. With Crews around that shouldn't be a concern. But getting a guy in that played in the nba and is a great shooter, how is that not a bonus with all of the guards on the team? Who cares if he is black, white or purple? Do you think Jett cares more if he is white or black or that the guy played at the highest level and can help him improve his game? I just made a statement he would be an interesting hire. I don't know the guy or really care, I just like his playing resume. Crews knows what he is doing more than any of us on billikens.com. All coaches good or bad had to get started somewhere. The head coach is the only position that matters, assistants come and go all the time as proof with Whitesell.
  14. I can't wait to see him in action. Everything I've heard has been good!
  15. Where would a mls team play at Busch Park?
  16. I'm going to miss Jim Whitesell and I wish him nothing but the best going forward. Hopefully after this season we see him on a regular basis in league play! That being said when one door closes another opens, been thinking about Ahearn and what he would bring to the staff if reports are true he is in the mix. Ncaa record holder, nba pro career, one of the best shooters in the country, from area, trend in coaching is going younger. He just doesn't have coaching experience that I know of, that is a major red flag. However he might be a X's and O's genius, no clue. I just think about what guys like Crawford, Mccall, Jett, Evans, Lowe could learn from a former player like that. I think the fact alone he played a little in the nba might go far in getting the players attention and also help recruit kids to the Billikens. In Chris May and Coach Crews, I fully trust their judgments and who better for Ahearn to learn from than these two gentlemen.
  17. Who cares what we call the guy as long as this deal with Crews gets done and we get into the Big East! Missing the whole point of the post. I just hope there is more to Crews not being signed yet, in a good way. Everyone knows Biondi has the final say on matters like this.
  18. Sorry I assumed everyone knew which "Father" I was speaking of.....Father Biondi will work so there is no confusion. Ha!
  19. I think Father will do the right thing in the end.
  20. As this goes longer I have more respect for Coach Crews. If he just would have taken whatever Father decided was good enough for him I would have been sick. Don't think that the relationship and conversations with Coach Majerus doesn't factor into dealing with Father. I bet he is asking for everything a real D1 program would need to keep up the success of the last two years. Coaches salaries, money for recruiting, etc. If not we are all in trouble. I see this as a great sign that he isn't going to be a puppet and who knows he could have other irons in the fire (other schools, network deals). If Crews ends up walking away, you can't blame the AD or anyone else in the Athletic Department. Blame one guy and one guy only. IF this does happen God save us all! And if Father can't figure this situation out.....forget the Big East!
  21. People that live in St. Louis area ask a kid 25 and under what they know about SLU and see if they mention SLUH first....I think you will be shocked they will think you are talking about the high school. Our basketball program is so under the radar, this year and last helped, it isn't even funny. For anyone to say any different is missing my point. This is a problem......only winning can change.
  22. When I am in St. Louis and talking to some of my brothers and nephews/nieces about SLU Basketball some of the younger guys think I'm talking about SLU High School. I'd bet if the University did a poll in the St. Louis Metro Area that most young people 18 and younger would identify SLUH before SLU. "Where did you go to HS?" Also, before this tournament run I bet many people didn't even know SLU was D1! Getting into the BE and moving forward turns us from a Mid to a Major program in D1. Father either has to be the main driver or get out of the way and give the AD the full power to run this program like a Xavier or Creighton.
  23. sludevil and I think 99% of the people around SLU get it, I just think the one guy that doesn't holds all of the cards.
